Played this course on the 13th of July. Great layout and really fun track with some great holes along the ocean. One of the most well known par threes anywhere where you hit over the ocean to the hole but not quite as cool as the one at Mauna Lani South, IMO. Greens were not nearly as good as its sister course, Hapuna, but still really nice but rolled slower and had more grain. Rest of the course is super and in perfect shape, from the rough to the Sand, nothing wrong anywhere. Really fun layout and had some definite challenge and some great elevation change. This course was really fun and worth the splurge.

Played in early July Played Mauna Kea, Mauna Lani, and Waikloa- Beach Course while on vacation in Hawaii. Of the 3 courses, I felt this course had the best overall views hole to hole as the course is more severe in elevation changes so many of the tee boxes and greens offer nice panoramic views due to being elevated. I really enjoyed the layout, there was a lot of variety from hole to hole that offered multiple choices for club used off the tee- if you play the correct tee box lol. The 2 ocean holes are par 3's and they are both spectacular. The conditions were very nice, all bermuda grass which was thriving in the Hawaiian weather, solid coverage without any bare spots. The greens were in excellent shape and rolled true and the tee boxes were level. Bunkers were in good shape, a few pebbles in some of them. The sand was good quality, but a little compacted. Customer service was great. We tried to eat a late lunch at the clubhouse (about 2 pm) but found the kitchen was closed- this was on a weekday, I would think it be open later on weekends. Thankfully, the Mauna Kea hotel is a short walk from the course and it was easy to eat there. Also, if you want to walk to the beach after a round of golf, this is an excellent course to do that as golf course and beach parking are shared.

played a round here while visiting the big island, heard good things and reviews about this particular course. got a pretty good rate off a discount website. rack rate is $295. still, i was pretty disappointed. customer service was minimal, felt like there were 3 people working there that day, one person to grab your clubs, one person in the shop, and a starter who was MIA that i had to get the shop person to look for. no one at club dropoff, no beverage cart, no water on course, comfort stations were closed. they did give you 2 bottles of water. range had only 5 or 6 stalls set up, flags with no distances. Course conditions were pretty decent, had no issues with the teeboxes, fairways were generally in good shape with no bare spots. rough was an inch or so, would penalize you a bit but not too bad. greens were pretty slow, but ran well. the course has a few scenic ocean holes, like #3 and #11, but most of it was inland, most holes were essentially 'hit drive to a narrow landing area with a lot of fairway bunkers and then dogleg it to an elevated green. i didn't find it too challenging nor interesting from the resort tees. it was hot, around 90 degrees, and pace of play was pretty bad. a few groups of older men and women teed off about 40 minutes before us and we caught up to them by 5 and were waiting on every shot after that. no marshal at this resort. anyway with the heat, slow play, and uninteresting course, i actually gave up and left after 3 1/2 hours and 13 holes. never done that before on vacation. went back to the hotel and spent the rest of the day with family instead. honestly wouldn't play here again. rating is based on course conditions though.

Played Sunday 6/19, first off, walked on as single, paired up as a 2some. Used Golf Hawaii Card 2 Hapuna/1 Mauna Kea 3 play for $295. Pretty good deal even with the $50 card fee, and if it's the only time you use it. They have 4 and 5 play deals and other courses as well. Unlimited golf each day (of which I wasn't able to take advantage of) and 20% off merch. ell. This was probably my favorite course of my trip, with Hapuna a close second. #3 is their signature hole, and almost worth the price of admission by itself, hitting 180yds over the coast. #7 is another fabulous par 3, similar to #6 at Pebble, but longer. Most of the holes featured elevated greens, making hitting greens a challenge. Some beautiful holes with dramatic elevation changes. Greens very grainy.. fast 10, downhill downgrain putts were a legit 14. Wind was mild to nonexistent today, hot day. Cart girl came around a couple of times. I used the golfboard for $35 upcharge, and it was worth every vacation dollar. I want one for myself. If you get a chance, and you have average balance/athleticism, use it!
