Played today in a great POP of 3 H. After seeing the first 4 holes I thought it would be longer LOL Heat wave has broken and we had a nice cool morning with warming temps on the back 9. I have not played here in about 40 years so it was like playing for the first time. Except one cannot forget a Par 6 hole which is still there. And I give praise to anyone who can walk this place. I believe I played only one flat hole #12 that was not up down and over like this place. Local knowledge is key here and glad my partners knew this course. We used a Golf Moose voucher so the round cost us $31.50 a piece with cart. Great deal. Check in was great and friendly by the staff. Tee boxes were playable but many could use leveling. Fairways had good coverage (not all of them) but they provided decent roll out and lies the whole round. Traps? There aren't any. But seriously I cannot even remember a bunker on 98% of the holes around the greens other than a few fairway ones that really did not come into play. But who needs traps when there are enough ups/downs like a roller coaster and a course with OB lining every hole that if you went in they would not find you + the eucalyptis trees covering the course. Just be straight with your driver if you can. Greens are in great shape and they are small and with the many elevations of the holes coming up short can be an issue with chipping as they are fast. They also have lots of unseen levels when putting that can drive one crazy. And then you have two holes #9 and #18 that are unique as any holes you might come across. #9 a Par 3 (175 B 141 W) is downhill by at least 175 yards very small green surrounded by heavy rough and trees. Making par (I did) is not easy. #18 is a Par 5 (667 B 649 W) all downhill OB on both sides of the fairway all downhill lies or uphill lies the entire way and uphill to a small green when you reach about 100 yards to the green above you. Not an easy hole to par (I did) by any means. I thoroughly enjoyed playing here as it is as different as night/day to so many courses one can play in N and S CA. Highly recommended for anyone regardless of skill just to experience such a dramatically different layout of a course. And there is a nice little Par 3 course on property as well. + Beautiful views of the bay area of from many of the holes on the course.
