I used the recent bulletin board discussion of Sac town courses to find Morgan Creek. In town for a funeral, I had little time to drive to a course and this one was very close to the hotel. I really enjoyed it. Only a few miles off the I80 in Roseville, it was a rural atmosphere teaming with wildlife. I played horrible for the first six holes and began to worry that I would run out of balls given all the water. Thankfully, my body forgot the long drive eventually and I could enjoy the course better. I was surprised how thin the grass was on the greens but they were firm, fairly quick and rolled true. The fairways and rough were lush. The sand was okay. The tee boxes were only okay (some were pretty chewed up). It is a public course that began with aspirations of being a country club and the conditions showed it. The customer service was fine. I walked up as a single, paid, and was second on the tee with a local couple. The design is fairly tough and I was happy to play with people with experience on the course. We played in about 4 hours and I am sure one reason we took that long was my poor play at first. I would gladly go back although hopefully not for a funeral next time.

If you haven't played it check it out! I played 12/12/10 and although we've had quite a bit of rain the course drains very well and played great. This is a newer club that was private for a brief time but is now open to the public. The rates are reasonable. I walked it on Sunday for under $50. The course is very well maintained and a pleasure to play. With 5 sets of tees you can select the difficulty level you feel comfortable with. The course is fairly flat and requires some target shots. Some of the tee boxes remind me of a Pete Dye design where you can't really tell where to hit the ball standing on the tee. The greens are in great shape and are usually pretty fast. There's a nice clubhouse with good food and bar. Decent practice area, although I don't think there is a practice bunker. It's a great course although it takes a time or two before you figure out how to play it. I can't wait to go back.

Decided to play here after finding out the course we intended to play was aerated. Glad we did, course was in great condition, green was fast and smooth. It's not a easy course for sure but it was a fair course. I enjoyed it. Definitely made the my list to play in Roseville/Sac. area.
