Amy and all her crew does an excellent job of keeping up the course. I know there has been money problems in the past, but through it all Amy and her crew have done quite a remarkable job. This course really deserves a chance. Put your egos away and come out to Rio, it is so worth the value. You won't be unhappy. GREAT JOB AMY AND ALL YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Course is showing some stress due to the heat we had last week, but all in all, it's holding up better than some I've played in the last few weeks. It would be a boost if they could replace the current contents of the traps/bunkers with real sand (no pebbles). My sand wedge started out with a chrome finish, but had a burnished look to it after the first round I used it there. The staff at Rio La Paz are great...very helpful and accomodating. A test for them as their A/C was not working today (they still haven't moved into their new clubhouse), but they smiled thru it all. Seniors can get on for $27 (fees, cart & a hot dog lunch) with a coupon from their website or the Sacramento Bee.

Course is in fairly good shape now that better weather has hit the valley. The greens are still spotty around the edges on most but the interiors are pretty solid and roll well. Fairways much more playable than last time out there. For $25 for fee/cart, not a bad deal. They've reversed the nines.

The new tournament director (AMY) is awesome, extremely helpful, and the course is in as good of shape as anywhere in the Sacramento area. Put your egos away and try this course in Nicolaus. The greens are normally the best around. I play $80 that are not as in playable condition as this one. Try it you will agree. A+

Majority of the greens are pretty ugly around the edges, but the centers are rolling very well...the edges look like some practice tee boxes I've seen but don't know what caused it. Some fairway areas are in serious need of grass transplants in the bare dirt areas. Didn't find myself in any sand today so can't comment on the quality of the traps. For $25, it was ok.

Greens holding approach shots very well, but brown areas are appearing on many of them around the edges. The greens are slower, due to extensive watering to combat the valley heat, but puttable. Wish there was some way to put a system in place to catch the bozos who won't take the time to repair ball marks. Fairways, for the most part, are playable, but there are some bare spots that appear to be outside the range of the sprinklers. Sand in the traps could be improved. All in all, a course that's well worth any of the various discounts you can find for it.
