Sunday one hour frost delay and the pro-shop / restaurant was busy with players filing in and paying. No frills but all you need. A cool vibe of players mingling (with C protocols) discussing the NFL Saturday results and when he fog would lift. It did yielding to mostly sunny no wind mid 50's perfect. This course is parking lot full most Sunday's
Course damp, the greens cut and serviced. Played well semi-quick and subtle breaks at times and bigger undulations on some holes. Fairways offered roll-out with some dormant areas. Playing it down was fair through the green.
Moved from second to first out because we were a two-some (GOLF MOOSE!) and moved through the front at our own pace. Hit a slower two-some on 10 ; father / son who waited for us to play the par 3 11th and they let us through (clearly learning the game, but knew to let faster groups through) and we got back to wide open play on the short par 4 12th thru 18. We got a beer at the turn and staff was looking out the back door to make sure the group he put out in front of us was not going to slow our pace. Appreciated that.
Overall good scoring put a bigger smile on for the ride back home. The Golf moose deal and the great service and above value conditions keep us as repeat customers every other week in 2022.

Weekend two - of 2022. Sunday second out with no frost a little low fog that burned off to sunshine just after sunrise until the 10th hole when low clouds and cool breeze became dominant. So an interesting day dressed in layers with the knit cap and mitts used all day.

Rudyclub review in Nov spot on as far as the course description and layout. Today it played wet with dew through out. Interesting with a good day off the tee to follow the roll out of my ball it the dew on the fairways. A long one on the 9th (#1 rated) was perfectly straight. Shots into the rough held up quickly robbing distance. Bunkers some are ok some not good. A couple I noticed but avoided were weedy but the rake was still on the edge. Almost picture worthy for a LOL. Greens good rolling a bit slower than normal expected that.

Overall a good round and spoke to the 3-some on the tee who let us go first as we recognized each other as Sunday regulars. We agree that the R.O. facility and track is worthwhile value in our area even with a small drive. Versus public / municipal venues closer to Sacramento that have weekend G fees in the $70+ range. Casual fun atmosphere here is another plus.

Played 11/27/21 10:30 GMoose deal. Course is pretty flat and very typical parkland style. Some interesting holes w/ severe doglegs and very short par 4's and semi long 3's. Over all not a lot of undulations in the greens, but a few had strong tilts. Fairways were mostly green with a mix of winter dormant brown. Decent coverage. Some areas cut nice, others on the shaggy side.
Greens had full coverage and very soft. On the slow side and bumpy, but very decent to good.
Many tees crowned and uneven with mostly good coverage. Traps firm, but consistent. A fairly short course making it great for family fun and new players. Course was in decent to overall good shape and reasonably priced.

Good to see a course that still fills in the early times seems a few have gone to fixed time regardless of sunrise missing these early slots.

The course is in an improvement in all areas on the course mode. Including tee boxes, cart paths, and it is noticeable. Ownership putting in the capital and the staff working to make it happen. The bunkers may get some sand soon too it's rumored

Greens are good and the fall service will commence this week a verticut and light sanding scheduled. They are soft and receptive and rolling smoothly. No many undulations so ability to make a straight putt from the mid-range should help your score here.
Fairways are good have some patches crabgrass and the rough is playable not too long.

Early tee time cooler fall weather. = Fun and a recommend.

Greens in good shape medium speed smooth healthy. Only a couple out there to fool you. Most are straight forward and you can be aggressive uphill.
Fairways good. Rough playable and bunkers damp and could use raking.
Not much extra water in the wetlands or vernal pool areas as there should be this time of year so evidence of drought for sure but not where you should play from. I escaped from here pretty well.
Check-in easy carts clean and snack bar open by the time we turned for the back 9. No beverage cart service here. Inside seating closed outside open. Quick easy menu fairer.
Beer's cold Customer service great and prices nice.
It's just FUN...

Played 10/4/20 early the dew was heavy on the grasses front 9. Course conditions overall very playable. I didn't lose a ball which doesn't often happen in my round.

Greens healed from aeration rolling a bit slow and bumpy allowing for aggressiveness with the flat stick. Alas held birdie-less. Two triples kept me out of the 80's
Fairways nice. Sand traps wet and footprints in most need a tilling.
Good service fast POP and it's a recommend as a lower difficulty rating and slope course. Busy when we finished most carts out on the course. Practical Covid rules.
Ok Fun.

Greens putt a bit slow but are consistent and hold high shots. A couple had brown area on fringe and edge of greens. Fairways good coverage.
Staff at check-in and bar great and practicing CV-19 protocols.
Good course for the higher handicapper to score well if playing well.
A bit out of the way but worth a look. They are steady busy, but not too crowded.
Recommend as a quality venue at economical value.

Played River Oaks at 1:30pm Saturday 12/21, paired up with Mark and Kyle of NorCal for a 2 hour POP for 9 holes. Why just 9 holes starting in the afternoon in winter? 'cause, even 9 real holes are way better than TopGolf! Our original plan for TopGolf in Roseville, was because the weather outlook earlier that week was not in our favor. However, that days weather was in our favor, no rain, just overcast and temps in 50's. I traveled 400 miles that morning, and needed this 9 hole outlet! Mark and Kyle are great hosts and lower handicap players, willing to guide me through one of their area courses. Nice conditions and nice staff. This was my first time at River Oaks, let alone any NorCal golf.

Tees, in good shape for winter, 6 out of 10, for level, mowed and maintained boxes.

Fairways, winter is here. They were decent for this time of year and between rain events. They would easily give, however, the divot strips would break up, instead of staying into single 'scalps'. 6 out of 10.

Rough, the rough here was as expected, patchy, yet mowed. You will not lose your shots in the rough, but it will still slow and stop the errants shots into It. 6 out of 10.

Traps, give easily about 3/4 of an inch, even though they were soaked without standing puddles after the rains. 4 out of 10.

AARG(Areas ARound Greens), within 20 yards, were mostly green, somewhat cut and soft enough to allow my short game to thrive. 6 out of 10.

Greens, these were naturally soft after the rains, and rolled consistently slower and true for the front 9 I played. There were a few greens still showing what I call 'green acne' areas, still trying to thrive after the fall seeding/aerating. There were an average of 2-3 ball marks per green, needing fixing. Come on, golfers! 4 out of 10

I enjoyed watching Mark attempt to use his trademark draw, and Kyle's cut shot, however, the air was very humid and cool, thereby causing them grief. They really needed about 30 range balls before the round, to detect and adapt for that day's conditions and thick air. We did not allow ourselves this range and putting warm up before the round. Maybe next time! Cheers

Played here yesterday on my way up north. I booked a 10:30 hot deal the day before for only $17, but arrived closer to 9:30. Place was pretty much empty on a cold, dreary day, so I teed off right away and finished pretty quickly. I played through one group and leapfrogged another single at the turn. Hardly anyone out there, which was just fine with me. Course conditions were decent considering it's winter and this course is slowly coming back to life after it was closed for some time a couple years back. Sounds like they have been putting a lot of work in here. It's pretty rough around the edges right now, but playable enough and not really too soft or wet. Definitely some mushy spots and had to be careful where driving the cart, but not bad for this time of year. Tee boxes kinda shaggy. Fairways mostly pretty good. Rough kind of hodge podge with dormant sections, thick green stuff and some weeds, too. Bunkers damp and not great. Greens looked kind of rough and had some ugly spots. However, they rolled surprisingly quick and I never had any putts thrown off line too much. Several of the water hazards were dry and others had low water levels. For all the hubbub of bringing this course back to life and the fact it's a Peter Jacobsen layout (I've liked all of his courses I've played). I was expecting something a bit more distinctive. Front nine fairly flat and open. Back nine has more character, but still nothing that memorable. It's an OK course in OK winter condition, but at least it is open again. That's about all I can say!
