I played the 18-hole executive course on 5/26. It was a bit claustrophobic with the holes so close together. The greens are the size of postage stamps, but otherwise great short-game practice. By the way, the front nine of the regulation course is shut down for a major overhaul - don't know for how long.

Played Alondra in the wind on 3/15. The course is fair shape. Greens are small and on the slow side. No real definition between the fairways and rough. There are lots of concrete drainage ditches ... Continue »

Played Alondra in the wind on 3/15. The course is fair shape. Greens are small and on the slow side. No real definition between the fairways and rough. There are lots of concrete drainage ditches throughout the course that are unsightly. Not an exciting course.

Alondra was a lake last Sunday after the heavy rain the night before. Should have brought a fishing pole.

In a pinch I recommend this place. Staff today was very nice and accomodating. As a single the starter helped me get out. Thanks to Mark in the Starter's office for being good natured and helpful.

Now the stuff I didn't like. Greens are bumpy. Balls do not roll true. Fine that on that cold day the greens were firm, I could deal with that, but come on putting on a bumpy green just plain sucks. It's the luck of the draw that your ball would end up where you plan it to and if all golfers would depend upon luck to make a put I should have been in Vegas taking advantage of this luck. Fairways are .... OK. Little barren but playable. Tee boxes -- a good portion of them on the front 9 are unlevel. My pet peeve was playing with a twosome of newbies. Completely unfriendly they decided to take off in their cart after they hit leaving the 3-some walking they were also with (including me) the dubious honor of hitting into them. After yelling for them to come back we proceeded but then they wanted us to go ahead. In retrospect we should have but what good would that do? We would still have to wait. We would still have them hit into us and we would piss off the groups behind us. Amazingly we did keep pace with the group ahead even with the newbies, but at the expense of getting hit into numerous times by the newbies in the group. Kind of unsettling especially if you have to keep looking behind you since they were lagging behind. Slow round, stopped after 9 very painful holes. My only advice to newbies, stick to the par 3 exective courses. If you can't hit a 5 iron 150 yards don't even bother trying a bigger course. You can, but can you deal with the frustration factor?

Alondra is a nice traditional style city course. Fairways are tree lined and tend to be average in width. The course is primarily flat. Greens were in good shape. They tend to be elevated from the fairway and average in speed. Not much break or hold. Fairways were green and cut to a good level. No dry spots visible. Tee boxes were level and green. The rough was at a reasonable level, but still challenging. Sand was good in quality. Excellent for explosion shots to the green. All in all, Alondra has greatly improved from past reviews. It is a good track with good care. The practice facility is very nice as well. Driving range from mats, chipping area, and several practice putting greens. A solid city course.

Played 10/2/07. The Bad: Greens recently aerated. Very bumpy, even for Alondra. The Good: Finished round in 4.5 hours. Not bad for this place.

Perhaps because of the reviews here I was not expecting much at all from this course. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The course is making an attempt to improve conditions and their work is starting to pay off. Although still not in great shape the fairways and greens are noticably improving. This course is worth playing with reasonable value and short playing times for a muni. If the conditions continue to improve I'd like to see what happens over the next few months.
Watch out for the sand though. It vaires from clumpy to rock hard. Each bunker is a different story.

Dropped off kids at school so had some time to play a round of golf before work. Easy for single to get on. 4 1/2 hour round easily. No group behind or in front. We were a five and the foursome behind couldn't keep up. OK to break the stereotype I saw in my group 4 Koreans that all fixed their divots and the divots of others. Just like Bogey said it only takes the proper training. Greens however were in bad shape. Crows are tearing up the place. Greens will not roll that true but after they were cut I did notice the balls started to roll flatter and better towards the hole. Fairways look burnt and overwatered in areas. Straightforward vanilla course. What you see is what you get. I play here b/c I can get on fast and certainly beats working.

This is by far the worst golf course I have ever played at. A friend of mine wanted to play here, so I decided to make a 1:30 pm tee time. Not knowing what to expect since the last time I played here was about 5 years ago. My first problem was when paying for my green fee, they only accept cash. What normal 18 hole golf course do not accept credit cards or debit cards? Luckily my partner had enough cash to pay for both of us. Second, I have never seen such horrible greens like Alondra Park's. Alot of brown spots all over the greens and not to mention how thick they are too. Third, you have to keep a good eye on your ball because other players just hit them without checking it. I don't know how many times I drove my ball off the fairway and seen other ignorant players hitting my ball. There's just way too many hackers who have no idea what is going on. I will never ever play at this sorry a$$ course. For those who never played here, don't!!! Try Victoria golf course or Lakewood Country club, same price as Alondra Park but much better!!
