Finally got out on the 'new' Babe course and, yes, it's nice but not much has changed as far as layout. It's still tight and difficult for sure, and a bit more forgiving. Lots of the shrubs and thick grass adjacent to the fairway rough and on the hillsides has been cleared which helps to find wayward shots, and sometimes they’ll even come back to the fairway if you’re lucky. I heard they brought in a herd of goats to eat the long grass, honest. Changes: most notably, no. 7 (long par 3) has been softened (left side bunker removed and slope of green friendlier) and the treacherous no. 8 green (#1 hdcp hole) has 3 level tiers … hey, you still MUST avoid the downhill putt. On the incredibly narrow no. 9 hole, for giggles, a fairway bunker has been added. Oh yeah, the greens are still a bit soft and slow for IH standards, we had many of our putts stop short. Naturally, that will change when the grass takes root. Back nine changes: they added a couple of bunkers on the second par three (no. 13), and that’s all I really noticed off hand. Only one complaint: green fees are up there with the Ike. Oh, well.

Still one of the best tests of golf in the area, and will be for some time. Still gorgeous. Enjoy!

The Babe's getting ready to shut down for the same renovations, which are near completion, that they've done to Ike. Yes, conditions could be better but whatdaya expect. Anyway, the guy who posted two spots previous must be a 'Pacific Palms' employee (golfers call 'em the Ike and the Babe) but, I must agree, the courses are the best around. I took a peek at the Ike and WOW, I cannot wait to play it. May even join their Men's club just to get on early ... what a beauty. Of course, you now have to pay through the nose ... the day's of $25 afternoon rates are gone. But, you know, it may still be worth it ... you'll have to see for yourself once they open, now sometime in November.

I am an extremely hard critic of courses and their customer service and have posted my displeasure a few times. I have golfed a lot of LA County courses and have belonged to Pacific Palms (Industry Hills) for a few years. Week day membership is about $150.00 for the year, with discounts on golf, food etc.

I am constantly looking for a better golf experience. I have a home above Angeles National in Sunland which is rated high and just got back from PGA West in La Quinta, golfing Stadium and Norman. I golf Brookside, De Bell, Azusa, Scholl Canyon, Rancho, Alhambra (Good Deal) a lot in order to meet friends who live in those areas.

Bottom line folks! Pacific Palms and the Babe course blow every other course away. The US Open qualifier was recently held there. The views, facilites, conditions, beauty, challenge, price, food, driving range, etc. provide a better overall golfing experience than everyone else. They even give you two free bottles of water in your cart cooler. Never seen that before.

Major improvements to both courses and facilities are being completed and only getting better. Angeles doesnt have a club house and charges more. I have read the negative comments about this course and I cant believe these guys are for real. With all the courses I have golfed and compared, Pacific Palms beats everyone. I will golf Trump soon, but based on the price it cant beat these two courses.

PGA West was not more impressive than Pacific Palms and it is rated much higher in the region. That's my feedback based on a lot of comparisons that include the total golf experince not just the course.

Take a critics advice. This is a great course at a fair price.

I had played the babe course with 3 more guys on July22. It was very extreamly hot. The course is good but the fee is not good compared to the course. Many courses don't allow carts to get in the fairways so i sweated a lot. Before ninth we wanted to go back home. the green looked very conditions however rolling isn't faster than it looks.

Anyhow I recommand that the course would be better in other season.

I have to say, I was a little disappointed in the conditions of the course this time around. I usually play here about four times a year or so and am always impressed with the course. Don't get me wrong, as far as shot value goes, this course is wonderful; it penalizes poor shots (and sometimes decent ones too) and rewards a person that can curve his/her ball off the tee. The tee boxes were a little hairy, but the greens were nice as usual. The rough was nice and lush and the fairways were good. But to me, tee boxes are really important because this is your best chance at hitting a good shot, so you want that area to be in great shape. Some might think that since the ball's on a tee, who cares what the grass is like. But for those of us who like to hit it off the turf on par-3's, it's a little annoying when the grass is sparse and in poor condition. I still love this course and thoroughly enjoy playing it. I don't miss playing the Ike one bit.
