Played Friday, November 13, 2009. Greens still show signs of last month's aerification, but it did not affect roll all that much. The kikuyu grass is beginning to slow down into dormancy, so fairways and rough will soon look more yellow than green. Pace of play was excellent (4 1/2 to 5 hrs.) given we were following a group of 5 walkers. We had a 7:40 a.m. tee time. It helps to be early at this course. The new range is beautiful with the new balls, nice grass, and target greens. Unfortunately, you still hit off mats and the new American Golf ball dispensers are a little more per ball than before. Customer service and price to play is well worth it.

Fun course. Walking is ok, except 1 long uphill on hole 9. Course is in decent condition. Some yellow grass on the fairways, but mostly good. Greens are a little challenging on some holes. Most fairways are bowled style and errant shots can funnel down to where you want them. Pace is pretty slow. Was in the 6th group out and finished in 5 hours.

All these years of playing all over L.A. I finally made it out to Knollwood CC. Why did I wait so long?! Fist thing I noticed walking to the clubhouse was the driving range. Is that real grass? Nice...but no time to hit balls. Good thing I spent some time on the practice green, fast and smooth just like the course greens. It isn't very long scorecard wise but with many of the holes playing uphill it fells a couple hundred yrd longer. Overall playing conditions were very good, better than what I'm used to playing. I would describe the course as a shorter but hilly Brookside #1. Emphasis on hilly, makes for a tough walk. We had a lot of fun and we plan on making this a good alternative to Santa Anita. Excellent value. Can't wait to return.

I am guessing they will get all new balls; those old ones had the dimples worn off them. Not too crowded for a Friday morning. Fairways were lush, greens rolled nicely. The whole course looked pretty lush, especially for August and mandatory water reductions. I don't think I have ever seen Knollwood this green. Nice lies in the fairways with very few tight lies. In a word, lush. Not a whole lot of roll, but as good as it can be here as far as course conditions. It is a good time to golf here right now.

Top 10 course! Conditions are very good for years now- bad rap is from years ago. Great layout- no holes run side by side. This was a private course once. The holes are in the valley's below the houses- just a great course to play. Windy in afternnon- I try to get on Sat wait list (at) 5am. 17 is a great 138 yd par 3! Counter guys are good Joe's too. I could play this baby everyday.

The driving range is currently undergoing a remodel. Dont expect to get in a warm up bucket before starting your round like I was or you'll be disappointed. Our round didnt start on time either, groups were sent out in foursomes and fivesomes and play tends to be slow. Other than that the course was in decent shape and the girl running the beverage cart was very friendly and came by every 3 holes or so which was great since the weather was pretty warm.

Overall this course is worth the Saturday green fee if you dont mind a little slow play.

I thought the overall condition of the course was rather good. My expectations are not as high here as some other courses. However I have no complaints about the conditioning, but the pace of play was horrendous. Almost 6 hours! That's just way too long for any course, let alone a course with so little "trouble" The starter admitted there are no marshalls (budget cuts) so there is not even anyone to call to assist. I have to agree with my brother ....... it's worth a few more $$ to play a higher end course and get around in less than 4 hours.
