Kicked off new decade as 1st off. Course in terrible shape
Greens outstanding. Happy new year!

In town for a week and decided on a Sat double hitter. Ran out to Rancho for early waiting list round then head up to Woodland Hills CC for afternoon 18.

Rancho greens fast and not 100% back-bumpy. Tee boxes scruffy. Not in bunkers but usual heavy dirt-ish sand, unraked by all. Fairways excellent. POP 4 hrs joining a group after 45 min wait on list.

Fun course requires well struck shots and positioning of tee ball. $45 to walk pricey but will swallow.
BTW excellent muffins at 12 snack stop.

In town on bidness for a week so had company pay for free weekend.
Tampa heat/humidity precludes normal 18 walking at 7am July-Sept so wanted to test legs.

Raced out TO Rancho at 5:30 Sat morning as single: out with 3 walkers at 6am. POP 3.50.

Can't really add more superlatives to conditions than prior reviews!
All good, greens great.

Only tempered comment is bunkers, tho not in any. They look tired and neglected, like ex girl friend. I thought I was in courtyard of Grau man's Chinese Theater with all the footprints. Apparently maint does not smooth them out in morning. Sand appeared heavyish.

Otherwise Ole home course still rates as #1 on list.

7:34 am tee time

Will only say cost is $20 with cart, no greens punched.

Florida golf in summer is cheap.

To quote Raymond Chandler:

"Farewell my lovely "

Out as a single in 4th group Sat am walking the blues with a great group of guys- just under 4hrs waiting on a slowish group that early

Played 111th and final round at Rancho prior to move to Tampa. Course in spectacular shape -green everywhere. Grass sod taken hold on all the usual dirt patches such walking off 6 green to 7 tee. Lush rough, smooth greens, good sand mix in bunkers.

Will miss playing this icon-birded 18 from the Palmer stone as going away present.
Next postIng will be from World Woods

Much tougher course than RO. Modeled after Pine Valley- I'll take their word on that.

Hilly, tree lined- no palm trees!- big, breaking, fast greens. Excellent shape all round. Breezy.

This course is heavy with waste areas. Lots of uphill shots to well protected greens. It's all in front of you so you can see where to hit it. Played w/3 locals which did help on which way fairways bounce on some holes.

As with RO-great par 3's. Water only in play once.

Both courses are walkable, but there is distance Green 2 T.

Can recommend both courses.

Made it to the mecca- 1 hr N. of Palm Harbor/Tampa home for the Rustic Canyon of the Gulf.

Worth it- Aced Signature #8; flag in front on a 4 club green.

Conditions excellent tee to green. $49 online summer rate. 1st off joining a 2some so POP not a problem. Hills, elevation changes, big, mounded greens. Course is supposed to mirror Augusta in topography. Much like a Northern Michigan course with tall pines. Great layout. Water on couple holes.

Lots of fun- word is, easier than Pine Barrens. No frills clubhouse, just golf in the middle of nowhere. Will be back with Premier Card.

Concur with prior review.

Pace easy 3 1/2. Long course from blues in chilly morning. Too much sand in bunkers, which are large and deep around seemingly every green. Fairways as expected shot. Greens firm.

Yes- backlog on 1st tee @9:30 equates to 5+ hr round. Scratch off County courses after 7am.

Thanks to playing partner for getting 2nd time for group.

Won't be back here.

Played June 30.

Wonderful Donald Ross course near Gulf - kinda an Oakland Hills feeling. Front bunkers were being redone. Walkable if early am tee time- otherwise very humid.

Gently elevated greens in excellent shape. Fairways country club caliber. Top rate during peak season to walk $ 55- a deal. Nestled in an upscale area.

There is another Ross course closer to my upcoming home I was planning on making it future home course- Dunedin GC in Dunedin. Front was outstanding- had some elevation changes. Last 5 holes for some reason turned into mundane Fla course- water & palm trees. Ruined the feel.

1st off on a PGA course last week is quite nice. Course soaked with heavy overnite rains made it play real long. $140 if you stay at the Resort.

Course has hills, turns, downhill approaches, uphill approaches. Tree lines and water hazards. Just feels like a top notch course when you're out here. Visually appealing.

Will be living in PH soon so this will be on quarterly rotation as its fun, hard, not brutal.
Conditions prime but for water logged. Only lost one ball.

Sat June21 - haven't played here since Jan 14. First off so pace of play not a problem as you can walk this course in 2:45. Marco in pro shop excellent letting me off 1st as single.

Course is pristine- that's it. Can never be in better shape ( s/b after city tourney).

Fairways lush. Greens true, not that fast.

Did notice groups behind were mostly 3 somes- price knocking out some early morning'ers? Nice to be pulling out of lot @ 8am.
