Played course as a single on Wednesday for the first time in over 5 years when my friends brought me as we learned the game. The course conditions are much better than i remembered it, with smooth flat greens, lush tee boxes and fairways. It took me a while to remember the holes, but as earlier reviews say it is rather short with mostly long par 3's. Accuracy is a premium but does play longer with strong gusts in the afternoon. It must play at least 3-4 strokes easier in the a.m. I would describe the course as a nicer Debell or shorter Montebello C.C. Staff is really nice, had an afternoon tee time but got me out over an hour earlier. The electric carts with GPS are some of the nicest around. This place is perfect for the mid-higher handicaps (or playing with wives/g-friends) which also contributes to longer rounds. My bro is just picking up the game and this place is perfect to wean him off of Arroyo Seco and Scholl Cnyn. so I'm sure we'll be back again soon.

Played on Sunday 4/26 with my brother. Employees were very friendly and the course is in great shape. The greens have healed almost completely. They were playing a little slower than they look, but very smooth. They may just need another week to be 100% before they start ramping up the speed. As usual for American Golf we had a 5-some in front of and behind us for our 5 & 1/2 hour round. This course is a great golf value during the week, and if you are interested in spending a lot of quality time with someone but never getting into a groove with your swing, a nice way to spend a full day on the weekend.

Good course. Challenging for seniors. Course in good shape overall. Good customer service.

OK to be honest my feelings were mixed. Partly b/c of the course conditions and partly because of the pace of play.

First the course conditions. Greens still need some time to heal. Starter and front desk were pretty up front with that. I like that. They said that the greens are coming back just need a little more time, perhaps another week to completely heal. The mix of hot weather and the way the course is set up will play a positive factor there. Fairways are nice. Rough is trouble and thick so stay out of it. Sand, is pretty darn good and I saw my share of the beach. Overall pretty happy with the conditions just wish the weather wasn't a sweltering blast furnace, thankfully there was a cool breeze and the roving concession stand was making its rounds (saw her 3 times). Let me put it this way... I didn't dress right for the round. And that is my fault.

Now for the part that gave me mixed feelings. No problem with the golf course just the knuckleheads in the group ahead and the group ahead of them which was part of a small group/golf outing (I think 6 groups). First they were slow. I mean slow is being kind. They were beyond slow. Throw that in with their conference golf style of play, one guy without shoes; playing barefoot it made for a longer day than necessary. When we arrived at the course they were 10 minutes ahead when the last group of their outing went out they were 30-40 minutes behind. The thing is without a large range area and just a net to hit into a moutainside I really didn't have a chance to warm up. Could have played better but I couldn't put enough shots together long enough to get my swing into some sort of groove. I suppose that is my biggest gripe. Spoke to two different marshalls and I suppose it fell on deaf ears either the slow groups or on the marshalls. Who knows.

The funny part of the round if it couldn't get any worse... there was a BEAR siting. OK not really a bear but a bear cub. But if you know anything about bears... momma bear must be close by. He decided that Hole 10 was a perfect place for a picnic. They shooed him off only to have him return to the lake around 14. It created general mayhem on the course with folks being forced to skip certain holes for saftey's sake. Oh yeah that and the baby rattle snake on that long par 5 around the hillside parked along the path between the green of the par 5 and the tee box of the next hole.

Overall I felt drained. It was a hot day and it only contributed to that. Will I be back again... well yes b/c these greens are some of San Dimas' best. And the course conditions are pretty darn good. I will just hope I do not get stuck behind a bunch of bumpkins that slow me down. I mean we were a fivesome and the foursome behind us had trouble keeping up when we had spacing.

Our group had a 10:30am tee time and we got out 30min later as we followed the last group of a tournament. If we knew what was in store for us I think we would have chosen a different course. Nature was the theme at San Dimas today as staff made attempts to 'shoo' a brown bear off of the 10th tee. Then at 12 we had to take alternate routes to the 13th tee cuz a rattlesnake decided to kick it on the sidewalk between the green and tee box. I actually enjoyed the nature part but 90 degree temps and 6 hrs later I didn't care how I scored as the tournament group really slowed the pace of the round. The marshall was no where to be seen for most of the day. When we did see him to mention the slow play nothing happened as the group ahead of us continued their horrid pace as they fell behind. I recommend you call the course and plan accordingly around any tournaments they host as it seems they don't care for to regulate these groups. A 6hr round is not acceptable for any course!!

I don't want to take today's experience away from the course itself. This course is in great shape. The greens still show the punch marks from recent aeration but they are already running pretty quick and true. I didn't notice any bare spots from tee to green and the sand traps are soft and fluffy. Maybe today's round was an aberration but I definately will play here again.

Played on 3/25 which means they had just aerated the greens. Other than that the weather was great and the course was in great condition. Once the greens are back to normal I will be back.

Played today Mon 3/23, had an internet special $25 no aeration (Supposedly). Knucklehead, should have checked GK. Aerated today, holes punched, spread sand. We decided before the round that we would take 2 putts on any holes that were punched and sanded, chip on and putt once. many of the holes were being aerated as we played, with temp greens set up about 50 yards short of the actual greens. Actually some of the sanded holes putted nice, a bit slow but true, go figure.

Rest of the course is in very nice condition, some divots on the fairways, some divots on tee boxes, some people still don't fix ball marks, or rake bunkers. Bunkers did have nice sand and played out of them well. Starter got us out right on schedule, marshal came around once, but did not come by us the rest of the round. We played in 4.5 hrs, without too much waiting except for 3 holes. We waved up group behind us on all par 3's which helped some, and all groups looked like they were within one shot of each other. Nice round regardless, and we all had decent scores.
