Best executive course I've played in L.A. area and a hidden gem. Fair and fun for beginners while challenging enough for experienced golfers to make it interesting, especially the hairy back 9, where an errant shot leads to a lost ball in the canyon on nearly every hole. Best two holes are #13 and #14. #13 is an uphill dogleg par 4 that requires a pinpoint layup first shot and an even more accurate approach to a uphill green that has a mountain on the left and canyon to the right. Hole #14 is a short par 3 with a narrow island green ala #17 at Sawgrass, only instead of water surrounding the hole, it's canyon in front of the hole and behind the hole. Only drawbacks are they sometimes put the tees way in front of the posted yardage, making for some odd, extremely short par 3s (on the flipside, allows you to drive the green on the par 4s). Also some of the pin placements (#1, #9) border on unplayable when the greens are running fast late in the afternoon, as the slopes do not allow putts to come to a stop. Best feature of Scholl Canyon is the super twilight rate (starting at 3:30), which is $17 w/ cart. A month ago started at 3:30 with a buddy and got in 36 holes before it got dark, can't beat that for $17 in L.A.

I can't visit this site w/out leaving a review for Scholl Canyon. First off, it's an executive par 3 w/a few par 4's. Not like any other Par 3 in CA and I've played many of them. Blows MPK or ARCADIA away. Definitely a hidden gem. Very challenging par 3's with uphill and downhill holes with a crazy dogleg par 4 (hole # 12). Most challenging par 3 is probably #13. If you hit short, it drops into the canyon. If you hit long, it's over the hill and unrecoverable. I can't say enough about Scholl. The condition of the greens and fairways are good. Sometimes hole location is an absolute challenge. Especially on #1 and #9, both par 4's. Definitely worth the price and the time.

Nice executive type course. Set on the hills with several barrancas. A very fun course for all levels. Take a lot of balls if your off line.

Great bang for the buck course. Lots of Par 3's. Great views of LA and ocean on clear days. Perfect course to work on short game. Only can hit off the grass on Mon - Thurs at the range.

Good course, plays fast, reccomend walking this short course. Marshal will help with rides in his golf cart up the steep hill between #11 and #12
