Well we got out around 1:30pm and it was semi busy. PoP was a little slow but not unbearable. The course was rough around the edges but fun all the same.
Tees were mostly level but a lot of bare spots.
Fairways were hardpan dirt covered by a thin layer of dormant grass.
Rough was decent, about 2-4".
Bunkers were awful, hardpack covered by a thin layer of sand. You'll want a low bounce wedge.
Greens were rolling pretty true, but some greens were kinda beat up.
Overall, it was below average conditions for Scholl's standards. Not worth driving out of your way for atm, but worth it if you snag a golf now deal.

Tee boxes- Pretty tore up where the tee markers were located for the day. Obviously they are trying to get extra miles/days from each spot before moving. #1 was leveled and fixed over the summer and it is still a pleasure to hit from.
Fairways/Rough- Fairways are typical thin conditions with winter dormancy. Not bad to hit from. Rough was nice, cut about 3-5 inches long.
Sand- Good.
Greens- Rolling super fast and firm. A little bumpy but not many divots. #7 and #9 were leveled/repaired over the summer.
Overall- Conditions were typical. Worth the value considering the cost.

Played 8/26. Off at 8:20 am just 5 minutes behind scheduled tee time. This was my first time out since early June due to some back issues. I chose Scholl Cyn so I could enjoy 18 holes and not swing too many big clubs. An excellent choice! This is a nice executive course with six shorter par 4's & 14 par 3's where you don't have to tee off of mats. The back 9 is very different from the front, offering risk/reward over arroyo shots, elevated tees and some really nice views.

I see by other recent reviews there was a tournament the day before. This would explain the severely chewed up tee boxes. I'd think after a tournament they might move the tee markers a few feet. The rest of the tee area was quite lush. However, nothing could be done about leveling the tee area. As others have said, you are either teeing off a downslope or an upslope. On the other hand, the tee boxes are quite big so you could face a very different course each time you return if the markers are moved around.

The fairways were somewhat dry & duffy, but quite playable; they were not hardpan. I found the rough to be juicy and somewhat penal. But I think that's a good thing on a short course. Since we teed off earlier in the day it would explain the dampness in the longer grass and in the sand traps. One trap looked like a pond had just been drained.

The biggest negative was waiting at every tee box. You wouldn't think it would take 4 1/2 hours to move around such a short course. BUT...all of the par 4's are under 300 yards. Thus, everyone thinks they are driveable (including my two partners). So everybody waits for the green to clear before teeing off. I didn't see anyone drive a green all day...in front of me, in my group or behind me. Seriously, get real people. You're playing Scholl Canyon; you're not that good! But I'll play here again.

Played in 3 club tourney. I agree with all the recent reviews, they pretty much say it all. Bottom line nothing to get excited about, course conditions are OK maybe even better than expected. Good course for a 3 club event but without some sort of gimmicky format not sure if ill be back. Thinking a glow ball tourney would be fun.

Played yesterday in the three club tourney with the L A golf group. Had a good time. The course is pretty dry except for the bunkers which had a lot of wet sand and standing water. The greens were nice and soft though. A bit slow on pace but true rolling. The fairways were not very green but playable. Not a big deal as there were only about six short par four holes. The grass around the greens were very green and plentiful. A few extra ball marks on the greens to fix, but that was to be expected. The tee boxes were terrible, almost a challenge test to find a level lie. Most of the tee areas were moved up quite a bit, maybe the regular spots are better. Nice little course away from any houses. Good pace til we caught a group on 12 and it backed everyone up. The three club max would be a better test on a different course than this one though. I would play this course again.

Played out here with the LAGG today and had fun in our "three club monte" event. I think the format may have made this course easier without any temptation to hit driver on the short/narrow par-4 holes here. It's a fun executive layout with some good views. Back nine is definitely more interesting than the front.

The course was in decent shape. A few VERY unlevel tee boxes, but most OK. Fairways pretty dried out, but fine to hit from with only a few really bad areas I noticed. Greens soft and fairly slow with some tricky/severe breaks on a few of the holes. For $22 on a Saturday, not a bad value for an unusual event like this or a practice round. Front nine very easy to walk, but back nine has plenty of hills. Walk between 11th and 12th holes had us all pretty winded, but fortunately having only 3 clubs in the bag made it more bearable!

Another 3-club tourney at this course. Note that I did not say dog track, but it once was a dump. I always feel weird golfing here. Not sure if it is the feeling that the course can just slip off the side of the mountain toward Los Angeles, or if I am just breathing landfill gasses all day. We had a good pace for our four groups, starting at 10:00 a.m. and finishing at around 1:30 p.m. When we finished, I could see many groups lining up at the first tee, waiting for the big hitters to wait for one green to clear. Ugh, going to be a long day for those folks. I would say decent turf conditions were present over all, with only some areas that were marked GUR, and some areas really wet. Most of the crap was not in play, even hitting 7-iron off the tee on all the par fours. Greens were soft and slow; however, I did not see putts go off line. You just had to hit 'em firm. Tee boxes were somewhat not level; you had to search for a level spot, even though the back tees were moved up quite a bit on most holes. At $22 to walk on a Saturday morning, it was not too shabby. Good times were had with our little golf league and the 3 club format. Really, at this course, three clubs is all you need.
