Played on 11/12 with a morning tee time. Took us about 4 hours to play 18 on this executive course. Course was real quiet with forecast of rain that day. We got rained on in the middle of front 9. Weather was just awful with rain, cold and wind. With the rain that day, the bunkers were just awful. Sand was so wet and had water in it. It was so hard to hit out of.

The greens looked liked it was recovering from recent aeration. The punched holes were filled with sand and with the rain during our round, made it too difficult to putt on the greens. Felt like putting in a sand box on some of the greens.

Fairways, rough and tee boxes were in so so condition. There were so many areas roped off as ground under repair. There were lots of bare spots all over the course. It's not worth paying full price to play here. I do like the views of downtown LA and the westside from tee box on hole #15.

Played this course for the first time on 10/24. We walked on at around 8am as a twosome with the intention of squeezing in a round on this executive course in 3 hrs or so...but that didn't happen. It was relatively crowded and slow. We only finished 15 holes in the 3hr space. So here are my thoughts for the first 15 holes...
This course is tucked up in the mountains and for the most part in decent shape. The fairways are not much to talk about, but then again, there aren't that many fairways (i think only 4 par 4s). The greens were just now recovering from being punched out a few weeks ago. The greens were surprisingly tricky, even though they were a lot slower (per the locals we played with) due to the moisture. My biggest complaints were the tee boxes. All of them were in repair and the temp ones sucked. They had them set up all over the place and most of them was on some sort of slope.
All in all, a decent course to work on your short game.

Greens were rolling true, nice and green, and very few divots. I think aeration starts next week though.
Tee boxes are my only big complaint. There are a few boxes that just aren't level, especially hole #1.
Pace of play - smooth sailing for a 2pm tee time.
All in all, great course to practice your short game. You can't beat this course for the price.

Great times here at Scholl. Played in just over 1 1/2 hours. Course is mostly par 3's mixed in with reachable to almost reachable par 4's. Greens are in good shape, rolling true and not bumpy like i used to see it. Fairways are decent, and only a handful of them are needed, since most are par 3's. Tee boxes were atrocious. Where they put the tee things for the day were on very divoted and unlevel areas, and I had to pull my tee's back to the official markers, which were semi-level. Easy to walk with the exception of one big hill. Love this place since got my first ace on the opening par 4 hole. Will definitely be back here. Fun layout and set up for casual rounds.

Played today with the MeetupLA Golf Group in a "3-club Monte", one of our league events. Choosing 7-iron, pw, and putter makes this dog track somewhat interesting. I thought the greens were in pretty good shape: soft, lush, fast to medium fast, but a little bumpy at times due to ball marks. That is were the best part of this course ends. Tee boxes were almost all not level; however, they were fairly consistent with a ridge running front to back on most of the back tees. Front tees seemed fine, but they look like they are almost never used. Fairways and rough were a little thin and in places scappy looking. Lots of roll on most downhill fairway shots. Greens had a lot of break and were troublesome for most of us as the pin placements seemed tricky with lots of break at the end. This is definitely a course where you will not need to pull driver as there are only 6 par fours and the longest is 324 yards. You don't want to be long on many of the approaches because there is trouble (hazard or o.b.) due to this course being carved into the side of a mountain. As always, I had a good time with the group from MeetupLA.

It was like playing golf in an asylum today - I know you get hackers here but this really took the cake. Balls flying everywhere, shanks going right angles off the tee, hackers who couldn't even connect with the ball (3 out of every 4 strokes were whiffs from one of my playing partners - surprised every time she connected on the 4th) and people sharing golf clubs.

took 2.40 hours to play 9 and that's only covering 1500 yards - manager at pro-shop not interested in refunds or in anyway willing to recognize how much of a farce this was.

Course is in pretty lousy condition - fairways are so hard, thin and baked that they make Lost Canyons look like Augusta National. Tee boxes are cross-country style, rough is thin. The greens were decent I suppose.

Don't even bother going here if you want a somewhat decent and credible golfing experience.

Played in a tournament here today. It took us about 4 1/2 hours to play 18. We pretty much started on time. Like playing the front 9. The back 9 is pretty challenging especially holes 13, 14 and 15. Its pretty easy to lose balls on these holes with canyons off to one side and hole 14 had a carry.

Was not happy that the greens were still recovering from being punched. The practice putting green was not punched. But when we played the greens were punched (usually the bottom or top half of each greens were punched). If you landed on the greens in these areas, it was quite sandy. I also saw a lot of unrepaired ball marks on the greens and I saw a lot of unraked footprints in the bunkers. Please for the consideration of other golfers, please repair your ball marks on the greens and rake your footprints in the bunkers. The fairways and tee balls were lush in spots, bare in other spots.

Course is pretty tight. I kept on hearing "fore" on a lot of holes. It is pretty easy to hit onto adjoining holes (like hole 1 and hole 10). Even though this is an executive course, it is not an easy course to play. But the views from the course are pretty amazing. Today we can see downtown LA and Century city buildings from hole #15.

It's late summer at Scholl so that means fairways are dry and brown! Luckily, most holes you don't need to play from them. Greens looked pretty good overall actually, with the usual un-repaired ballmarks. Slow and somewhat bumpy they were still fairly playable given the severe slopes you encounter here. Tee boxes shambolic and most traps looked like packed gravel (wasn't in any so can only make cosmetic observation). Still, for 20 bucks on the weekend it's a fun time with lots of challenging holes and although it's short you still have to think your way around to score well. Front 9 is flattish parkland style while most of the back nine is a very challenging (and hilly) trek through a scrub covered mountainside. 13, 14 and 15 are as good a trio of holes as you'll play on any muni in LA county. Try it out for a fun and challenging round.

Played 4/19/10 and enjoyed the course even though greens were punched last week. The tee box on 1 (if you can call it a tee box) is like teeing off of a downhill fairway. Marshalls are friendly and do their job well. Bunkers are so so, sand 1 inch thick with hardpan below. Views are amazing on back 9. Fairways are very rough on most holes. Very fun course but wait 2 weeks and it should be better.
