Invited this AM for a free round and lunch today. Hard to turn down. Had not played here in quite some time and am impressed with what they have done here. All new driving range with Trackman. And it was packed this AM. Beautiful tennis/pickel ball complex as well. Found the course to be in great condition. All clean/playable tee boxes. Nice green fairways in between all Par 3 holes and nice green fairways on the few Par 4 holes. If one missed the green on a par 3 you had good lies and lush grass. On the par 4's the fairways were lush with good lies. Not much rough but you don't need any with all the OB areas one has to navigate. Traps all playable. Greens had been aerated and were in top shape but were semi soft but that was great because you could go flag hunting w/o fear. They chipped/putted nice all 18 holes. Yes it is a Par 60 but it has enough variety of holes (especially the back 9) to make it interesting, fun and challenging. Great customer service and very nice breakfast burrito. Recommended.

Got out for an early tee time this morning, ended up hitting off the first tee twenty minutes past our tee time. Not the best start. Inside they had one person working the register and there was a line of up to 8 people once I checked in. Somehow though, we ended up finishing the round in less than 3.5 hours POP, which is pretty astonishing, especially for this course. Coverage was decent, lots of divots on the greens that nobody seems to fix (nice etiquette douchbags in front of us) but the course is doing the best it can. I feel like this course gets a lot of hate on this site but it's a really decent outing every time, fun to just try to get GIR. Wish it was about $10 cheaper for how short it is, but it's LA. Better than being $10 more than what it is, lol. Tee boxes on the other hand need a lot of work. Incerdibly uneven and tough to find a good lie. The greens rolled really quick and there were more than a handful of invisible breaks. Honestly pretty tough pin placements so kudos to the greenskeepers for keeping things interesting! A good morning with some friends. One of the only places in LA that you can still get a tee time thanks to everyone and their bots. Really frustrating. But wonderful views!

Played on Saturday 12/10 at 10am for $44 with cart. I haven't been to Scholl canyon in years (so i thought i try it since I couldn't get a tee time anywhere eles). A lot has changed. The driving range has about 35 stalls and looks like about 15 stalls have a launch monitor you can pay to use, a nice upgrade. The golf course is a different story. I remember the greens being the highlight but now it's full of ball marks and bare spots. It putted better than it looked but still not pleasing to the eye. The fairways are how I remembered it, almost non existent, hardpan and very very thin grass. Around the greens were slightly better than the fairway. The rough is a mix of grass and weeds. The tee boxes were really beat up but you expect that since there are all par 3's except the 6 par 4's, but even those tee boxes were chewed up since it so short and a lot of people were hitting irons off the tee. I can't say I can recommend this course and I won't be coming back anytime soon. Also waited on almost every hole. Took 4 hrs and 15mins! Seemed longer!

Played today with a mid-morning tee time. It took us about 3:45 to play 18. We had to wait to tee off on almost every hole. Playing under COVID-19 rules. No rakes in bunkers, leave pins in holes on greens, no ball washers. Being a Sunday, they made us walk the front 9 and then we can get a cart for the back 9. It cost us $12 to rent a cart for 9 holes. At the turn we had to wait for carts that came off 18th hole. It's really tough to walk the front 9. There's a small hill approaching the 3rd green and there's a elevated green on the 5th hole. At least the weather was overcast and cool today. Saw a couple coyotes on the 8th tee.

I should have checked here before I played to find out that the greens were recently punched. Aeration on the greens were with big holes and a lot of sand. Putting was very slow and bumpy with all the sand on the greens. I say you should wait 2 - 3 weeks before greens are back to normal. Teeing areas had good coverage. There were a couple of teeing holes that are being re-seeded. The 10th tee was currently being re-seeded. The fairways were just in so-so shape. There were decent coverage but there were many thin and yellow areas. Landed in a few bunkers and found that some were a little thin and mostly dirt. Rough tends to be fairly lush.

The driving range was open with physical distancing in effect and face masks required. Haven't been here in a while and they removed the thick mats with the real feel turf mats where it's hard to put your tee in the mat. Face masks are required to enter the golf shop to pay with a credit or debit card. The snack bar was open for take out only. Came here to mostly practice my short game. Love the views of downtown LA from the 15th tee.

Scholl is in very good shape right now. The sand has been replaced on a few holes but a few holes there is still dirt. The greens are in good shape, the tee boxes could use a little leveling. I played with a member of the men's club and he explained that Saturday's are packed but every other day is smooth sailing. We finished in under 3hrs for 18, after passing the slow 4-some ahaed of us. Scholl is one of my favorite places to go, it's fast and the views are worth it. It's tougher than it looks and harder than its handicap. The range is usually slammed with people but that's not always the case with the course.

Played this AM with a friend who is getting back into the game. First thing we were hit with was no carts for the front 9. Only the back. So walk/carry/push the front and ride the back (they do not have enough carts to satisfy the demand). Very poor customer service. This course while short, is not walkable for everyone. This is in effect F - Sun until after Noon. But it is not mentioned on the website or when you book. WHY NOT. Luckily I had my push cart in the car for my friend to use. Very foggy at the start and that added to the uncomfortableness of the walking. Glad the sun burned through for the back. Course is in decent shape for the amount of play it gets. There are 6 par 4's and the rest par 3's. The fairways for the 6 par 4's is in semi good shape. Lots of yellow areas but decent lies and roll for the most part. We really did not notice any issues with the tees and as we were joined by two others, no one complained about the traps either. Greens were in good shape but many golfers here are absent minded when it comes to fixing ball marks. The greens putted well all round and there are many you do not want to be above the hole on. Other than the cart issue, customer service was fine. Snack bar was open and check in was inside the pro shop. Standard LA county virus rules are in effect when checking in and on the driving range (which is fully open). I enjoy this course on an occasional basis but will wait a few months before returning. And not on a weekend LOL.

Played this AM. First out. 2 H POP. First tee time is 7 AM (asked why not earlier and was told that was what City of Glendale wanted? OK). Gates open at 6:30. So no reason to get there early. And they want you to walk the front 9 unless you have Hdcp or are disabled. You can then get a cart for the back 9. Seems they have a shortage of carts at present (see below). I rode with my friend who has a hcdp placard and flag. When you receive your confirmation tee time, the cart situation is explained in detail (read it). Maybe tee times and cart situation will change over time? So if you are going to play, confirm with pro shop if you book with them. Only online and call to pro shop available for reservations. The course itself is in very nice shape. All the tee boxes were just fine. No rough to speak of but enough OB and side hill lies to give you problems. Sand traps were clean, but the sand was not soft and the surface was hard to hit from. Only in one trap thankfully but others had trouble all round. I noticed that on the par 4 holes the fairway grass was dormant and not green. Looks like they did not water them? They were playable but visually they looked bad? Greens were just great. Held shots. Released shots and putted with speed and especially downhill. All the holes had pins with inverted cups. Customer service excellent at all levels. I enjoy this course very much. It has a great variety of holes and challenges. And the prices are really good. Don't want a strenuous round of golf? But want a challenge? Play here IMO. Not to mention that the views are awesome. And they were today.

Played today after reading the review from Weber. I had never played here before and am glad I now have. I will agree totally with what he has provided previous to my review. He had overcast. I had clear skies and fantastic views of the LA basin. Course is located right at the base of all the tv towers one can see on Mt Wilson. If you have not played here, I would recommend it. It is truly not like your typical Par 60 course by any means. Tremendous OB areas on almost every hole. If you are a slicer I do not recommend this place (LOL). But if you like challenging holes and greens and want to test your short game, by all means this is the place. $21 with cart (senior rate). If you play or have played, you will know why you want a cart, after you have left # 11 an play the back 9. As I am not far away unlike Weber, I fully intend to play here a lot more.

It was only after reading a recent review, did I even remember this course, so made first time off today at 6:30am. Unfortunately it was cloudy so did not enjoy the spectacular views this course offers. However, the overcast did keep the temperatures moderate. Staff was friendly and very accommodating.

This is only the second time I have played this course, and must admit that I really had a great time. I find this course very charming. It is so much more than just a short executive course. (In the same vein as Goat Hill Park) The greens were reasonably smooth, and if you were above the cup, really quick. Bunkering (condition aside) around the greens is excellent. Very good bunker design. However, other than a thin layer of sand, there was not much sand in them and allowed little opportunity to "explode" from them. Fairways are a non-factor on this course. The tee boxes are really beat up, not level, and lots of divots, since you're teeing it up, you can deal with the divots.

If this course were closer, I would play here a lot more often. It's just a long tough drive to Glendale in traffic for a two hour round of golf)
