Played yesterday in 4some. Teed off shortly after 11 am. Behind 5some playing very slowly. Marshal did not speed them up. Took about 5:15 hours. Should have been no more than 4 1/2. 5some let gap of 2 holes open in front of them. Fairways were hard, fast, and in good condition. Greens very fast and smooth. New score card, with distances shortened a bit for blue and white tees. Course rating/slope have been correspondingly slightly lowered. Really like course layout. Grass range, instead of mats, and short game areas are outstanding.

Played Saturday at about 8:00 am. Solid 5:00 round with the back nine being a little faster. The course was in good shape. Interestingly, every flag was blue and located in the back. They had aerated the front of the greens recently hence the pin positions. I did not know about the aeration until the 5th hole when discussing the pin positions (I know, know before you go, but it was an unusual morning) because the greens were almost completely healed. One could see the punches on about 30% of the holes. It was not a factor. Otherwise typical Skylinks, with good fairways and almost no rough. Fun if slow round.

Played Sunday Feb 16 mid morning. This was my first time playing here, so I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. Course conditions were A minus. Tee boxes were acceptable, and fairway turf was firm - which is what I prefer. The greens rolled very true and quick. Chipping areas were tight and tested your action. If you have poor short game technique, this course will expose you. Bunkers are punitive here, but if you're in them,you'll find the best sand quality of any SoCAL municipal. The course layout isn't anything special; it's basically a flat track with some artificial mounds. This is a second shot track - you won't be tested off the tee at all. You can miss a hundred yards in any direction. We walked for $58, which I felt was a bit pricy. I do have 2 complaints. First, customer service in the grill was atrocious. Worst I've ever experienced. It's as if the staff was laid off that morning. They were snarling and mean. Just totally unacceptable. Second, the bathrooms were filthy. I'll be back, but I won't frequent the grill and I'll hit the head before I leave the house.

Played Thursday (2/13/14) 8:20 t-time. Course is in good shape for this time of the year. Fairways and Greens are FAST. The ball rolls for ever on the fairways and don't be above the hole on the greens. Pace of play was good at just over 4 hrs.

I played Skylinks Sunday at about 9:45. After reading the last couple reviews I wasn't expecting too much, but I had been doing so much driving the last week I just felt like playing close to home. I didn't think the course conditions were too bad. Tee to green was standard Skylinks, with decent tee boxes, tightly cut fairways and rough, and good sand. As for the greens, I would say that three greens are in serious distress (10, 14 and one other that I should have written down). Otherwise, I thought the greens were in good shape and surprisingly smooth and fast. Now, a couple of the greens are just plain nutty to begin with (7, 12, and 17), but it has been that way since the redo. As for the green fees, $58 to walk is a little high ... but, then there's Orange County. Skylinks isn't for everybody, but its a good option now and then.

Played Skylinks today, and I agree with japacan the greens a the worst combination of awfulness. The only thing worse that slow bumpy greens are fast bumpy green. The greens had quickness today but the ball was bouncing everywhere. Add to that some absolutely ridiculous pins and it made for a unenjoyable round. Several times our group had putts you just had to tap because pins were on slopes, the ball when the bounce off line.

I do disagree with japacan about the condition of the rest of the course, it wasn't in bad shape it just has lost its identity. Sky usually plays fast and hard, mounds around the greens are shaved really short so you have several options to play shots around the greens. Now the mounds and fringes are thicker, you can't run the ball nearly as easily.

Having played Skylinks many times, today I was absolutely distraught over the condition of the greens. If a course is going to be charging $73 to ride, the course should be in better shape. I have always loved skylinks, but I don't think I will be back any time soon. The course was in good shape outside of the greens, but because the greens were in such terrible shape, it was hard to really enjoy the round. My suggestion, avoid this course until they decide to lower the price....definitely not worth the green fee.

Paid $31 dollars for this glorified muni. Greens terrible. Some fairways are good. Traps okay. Boxes chewed up. Worth about the price paid, not much more in this condition.

Only complaint was when fellow GK'er Kainoa13912 accidently hit into the foursome ahead of us on 17. Look, thats part of golf, it happens ...

We yelled "four!", but this old man wanted to go on and on about it. You know the type, ready to thrown down .... bla bla bla ... all tough guys on the course. Would have apologized to him but he just wouldn't let it go, so screw him.

Played Skylinks today with jralias @2:20pm for $40 w/cart. I've only played here once before with an American Golf employee for a great discount. It's a fun course with a decent layout but I avoid it because it really isn't anything special and they charge way too much money. Even the $40 I paid today was steep for the time of day. The course was in decent shape as the last reviewer stated. The fairways are thin and brown but they play perfectly fine, just aren't nice to look at. The tee boxes were mostly level with some divot damage and bare spots but it didn't affect play too much. As for the greens, they were some fairly nice and smooth areas around the outer portions but towards the center and around the cup they aren't very good. There are bare spots and lots of bumps and divots to contend with when trying to putt and more than once I had a ball kick right or left after hitting something. I was in 4 traps on the day and all but one were wet and forced you to pick the ball off the top. Pace of play was a little north of 4.5hrs but it should have been better if not for a ridiculous group in front of us. The fivesome and foursome in front of us were together and playing some sort of game among themselves but were playing horribly slow. What made it worse was the fact that they didn't seem to care that they had holes open in front of them and that they were holding everyone else up. Didn't bother to let anyone play through, taking extra putts on the green, high-fiving and standing around after teeing off and finishing out when they should be getting in the carts and driving on. One of the best quotes in reference to poor etiquette on the course I've ever heard was "No one bowls anymore." Too true and unfortunately I was reminded of this today.
