I'm not quite sure why the previous poster is so enamoured with Skylinks. It was a horrible track with horrible facilities. It was the black-eye of Long Beach courses. I'm glad it's being remodeled - the golfers in the area deserve a better track. Even with the increased rates, the golf in Long Beach is a great value - resident or non-resident. People need to realize what "other muni" courses are charging. FYI ... Rec Park went thru some renovations years ago (i.e. cart paths) ... that course will not be touched.

Drove by today 10/2 and they have staked out the new fairways and greens.Lots of heavy equiptment rolling around also.Greens were being watered and they are still green.When all is done,those greens should be in the best shape without any play for a year.Will keep y'all advised as I drive by there every day.

They are doing a $7 million dollar rebuild on Skylinks, the course will close October 1, 2003 for approximatly a year. From what I've heard they are completely redesigning the course, not just 'fixing it up'. Currently, they've stopped watering the fairways and rough so it's all dead. Greens are still in OK shape. It makes for an interesting time.

By far, the worst course in the area. Dead spots all over the place. The worst thing is the uneven tee boxes. It's like teeing off a pitchers mound. I avoid this course at all costs.
