Played 11/23 for the first time. Its a nice layout considering what they had to work with. There are some areas in the fairways where all balls will funnel to. These areas are going to get chewed up quickly. Greens are big and if you're a long way away you're likely to three put. Tee boxes and fairways also in good shape. It's a nice challenge.

Played 11/14/04 sunday 8;00.First time since their upgrading course.Yeah !!!!! Upgraded very well. overall good condition. But I wonder until when they'll keep this condition because I saw that course is very busy,a lot of divots on fairway ,even playing 4 kids delaying 3 groups behind at par 3 200yards. Always the pace of play is critical this kind of courses. 5 hours 30minutes.I hope keep going this condition forever.

Played on 11/14/04 my first round since the remodel and all I have to say is wow! what a job they did here. Some of the routing has changed but the overall condition of the course is fantastic. The new greens putt true and they all have ridges, some of them have two or three running thru them and with the increase in size this has turned into a putters course. The sand in the bunkers is a little softer than usual but it's better than no sand and i am sure they will firm up overtime. The green fees have been raised but it is worth the $49 weekend fee to play a course like this.

I've played this course 3 times since it opened, and it gets better each time. No more flat greens! That's for sure. This course will make you think on how to hit shots ... it will definitely make you consider the "risk and reward" of a shot played due to the amount of bunkers, water holes and pin placement. I can't imagine how difficult this course will become during the LB City Amateur tourney - it's gonna be brutal.

Green fees: yes, they are higher in comparison to Rec and El Dorado, but I consider it a good value nevertheless. We have it so good here in LB, but people will still bitc& on how much green fees are - they a look at other munis across SoCal and California - and you will find this is great deal. In other words, stop whining and complaining about fees. If fees are so high, play at twilight - problem solved.

forgot to mention pace of play was 5 hours and 30 minutes, teeing off at 9:30 am...do not see the rounds ever speeding up do to the difficulty of the course and the size of the greens...

Played Friday, November 12th for the first time...played the blacks all the way back...golf course is definitely much harder...fairways are very thin, grass is dormant...greens good...too much money for non-residents...drove into one fairway bunker and had to play out to the side, advancing only 40 yards...would like to play more but price will keep me away...

Got out to the new Skylinks on 11/8. Went as a single and got on within 20 minutes max. I don't know what the previous players meant, but I thought the course was very different, from the first hole. Still short, but now water definately in play. Back to back par 5's for two and three, re-routing through out the front nine, and a brand new par three on the back. I think Cal Olsen did a great job. Course is in good shape. Very contoured fairways, lots, I mean lots of bunkering, and beautiful HUGE greens. These are greens where you need to know what side to hit them on now, or you are in danger of three putts, but they run nice, a little firm but hold short irons and wedges no problem. Fairways nice, bermuda rough tough, ball settles down. Traps nice, everything was nice, even new Nike practice balls. 54.00 with a cart for a non-resident during the week is a little steep, but a very nice course. Let's hope they and us keep it up.

The thing I used to like most about the "old" Skylinks" was that it was CHEAP and EASY($29 to walk on weekends and easy to get off the waiting list).
The "new" Skylinks is neither($49 to walk on weekends and much more crowded).
However, Skylinks is actually a good test of golfing ability, now. You have to drive the ball to the correct side of the fairways, hit approach shots to small areas of the gigantic greens, have a good short game, and putt well to score well.
In short, its's a much better course than it used to be.

Renovated course is nice with the new trees, greenery, undulating greens & a lot of new fairway & green sand bunkers. But some of the greens are already damaged, barely a week after it opened. Hope ... Continue »

Renovated course is nice with the new trees, greenery, undulating greens & a lot of new fairway & green sand bunkers. But some of the greens are already damaged, barely a week after it opened. Hope players will repair their marks. Layout is basically the same with some rerouting. My only complaint is that it is pricey -- $49 for weekend walking & $18 super twlt are a little bit much.
