I played the Mountain Course on Thursday after work (3/18) with some co-workers. Since we work nearby, it is a fun way to end the work day. We started after 4 pm and were able to play 14 holes before it got too dark. It was not crowded, like it can be sometimes, and the course was in good condition. This is a great place for us to play at least 9 holes and $12 for walking is a good deal. It is also a decent place to have lunch, big portions at fair prices; often co-workers just walk over at lunch time. The service is friendly.

Have not played Whittier in some time, used to be on the regular rotation. However, was always difficult to get a weekend morning tee time and played very slow. Walked on as a single 10/28. First 4 holes were splendid and fast but hit the proverbial wall, a 3 some, which I joined, a 4 some, 4 some and 5 some. The problem was they were your typical Korean golfers, which means, slow. I can say that because I am also Korean! Tee boxes were sanded a little while ago with all the tee markers moved up. Fairways were the same, thin, plenty of roll and the greens were average. All in all, a fun place to gain confidence.

Now for the course review.
This course has 3 -Nine holes. They use two sets of 9 for the 18 hole course and one set of 9 holes for just playing 9 holes. Not a bad set up if you are pressed for time. Tee boxes are relatively flat. They are updating more than half the tee boxes and look to be done later July. Currently they have tee boxes set up adjacent or around 100 yards in front of the new tee boxes so the course will play shorter. Several of the greens and bunkers are also redone and you can tell by the type of sand they employ. Newer, whiter sand, new green. Old sand, older green. Typical Muni, relatively flat. Course plays it like you see it. Just watch out for undulations in the fairway. You could end up in a valley and have to club up for your approach shot. Loads of mature trees line the holes. Fairways are pretty green and well maintained. Green speed is pretty decent. Not slow, just medium speed. You get faster greens for the newer ones.

Pace of play was fast for Friday. Finished in around 4 hours walking. Played as 3 some surrounded by two 4somes in carts.

Overall nice decent course and at $17 for twilight, walking, who will complain?

Played here last Tuesday and was pleasantly surprised by the fairway and green conditions. It was windy enough that day to affect ball flight but overall a great round.

I have been playing for 2 years now and playing the pine-mountain 18 hole makes ait challenging with some of the par4's since they are pretty far. TH
he hole locations on the greens are farely easy and flat which has allowed me to finally break 90's. Great course to play on a sunny summer day.

I had not played here since 2004. I guess because my expectations were low, I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course, particularly the greens. They were excellent! Fairways not so great. Generally I felt the course was much improved since I last played here. I noticed some "new" greens. Because of the rain, pace of play wasn't too bad.

The round was quick at 4 1/2 hours. As mentioned in previous reviews the course is nice and wide lay out with little trouble throughout.

Fun wide open fairways, although dying grass at parts. Enjoyable round. Played at 2:30 on a weekday, and got through 9 holes in just over an hour walking.

Fun wide open course. Most holes are in good condition, yet a couple of torn up tee boxes and greens. Pace is very good. About 3.5 hours at twilight on a monday. No cart girls. Staff is so so. The starter made me wait until a group showed up 20 minutes, when none came, then told me to go ahead and catch up with another group already out there. Also starter was a bit rude with treating me like an idiot for not knowing where the bathroom or cart area was.
You won't lose many, if any balls here. There is one wash you hit a tee shot over and lost one there, but most areas are wide open.
