Another great day at the Goose. Called for a twilight time for a twosome, and got out right away. It was a hot day, but there was still plenty of activity on the course....which, as usual, was in immaculate shape. Total time was 3.5 hours for two 100+ shooters, which made the heat bearable and the track even that much more fun. If I lived in the Inland Empire, I would want this to be my home course!

Booked an internet special threesome this past Sunday (4/17), for a 1:18pm tee time. The clubhouse was friendly and on-time, but that's where the good time ended. Overall, the course is in good shape, and I should know because I had plenty of time to view the surroundings as we waited hole after hole for the fivesome, threesome, and fivesome ahead of us to muddle their way through the course. Without a marshall in sight, at one point we rolled up on a tee box only to find a lone straggler from the fivesome ahead of us taking his second and third tee shots of the hole (even running over to his cart to grab another ball as we stared in disbelief) while the remainder of his party searched for their shots down the fairway....Needless to say, four hours and 12 holes after starting, my buddies and I called it quits. After complaining to the clubhouse manager, we were given three vouchers for nine holes, but until they stop putting high-handicap fivesomes out on the course, this will continue.

Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day to take an afternoon off and play a round at Los Serranos (North). Overall, the course is in good shape. There are some tee boxes with problem areas, and the greens seem to be inconsistent between being fast and slow, but the shorter track is a nice ego boost for those of us who rarely hit the green in regulation. Customer service was awesome, and the pace of play was good--4.5 hours for a round that started at 12:30pm. I'll be back.

Played earlier today 12/29 with two of my friends. First time on this course. Wasn't too impressed with the tee boxes (very uneven, but lush), the fairways (lots of brown spots), or the "rough" (more like hard-packed dirt), but was incredibly impressed with the greens...they were soft, but fast, and lush and green with no bare spots. If they only took as much care with the rest of the course as they do with the greens, they'd have a real winner! The course is a fun layout with a mix of narrow and wide fairways, smaller greens guarded by sandtraps, and a great view of the local snow-capped mountains. Customer service was great as well as friendly groups of players both before and after us. As a vet, I was touched by the letters from servicemembers posted in the clubhouse, and I was given a rough dose of reality when I heard the faint volleys from the Honor Guard performing last rites at the Riverside National Cemetary next door. Beautiful day for golf, and overall, the General wasn't a bad place to visit.

Played 12/5 in the annual Kris Kringle Tournament to benefit Project Shepherd. Played Scotch rules (alternate shot), so didn't get a real chance to play regulation, but the course is in great shape. The greens are fast, but true (do yourself a favor and hit the putting green prior to going out). The fairways are green and lush, and the tee boxes were in superb shape. Nice to see my "local" course looking good!

Played yesterday with three of my buddies using a coupon for complimentary geen and cart fees (for four) that I won at a tournament earlier this year. I was a bit concerned that I wouldn't be able to use the coupon during the "holiday" week, so I called for a tee time almost two weeks ago. Even though tee times are not usually given out more than seven days, the pro shop attendant made my reservation (thanks). When we arrived yesterday for our 9:52am tee time, we were even asked if we wanted to start early. We declined so we could warm up with a small bucket of balls at the range, but it was a nice offer. We played the River/Pine courses for our round of 18. The conditions were a bit soggy in many places throughout the course, especially on the first three greens on the River Course. As mentioned in other reviews, many of the tee boxes need some work to get back in shape, as there are bare spots and the boxes tend to be uneven. Overall though, the course was in serviceable shape for a municipal course. The course layout is pretty basic, with nice, wide fairways, and no real water hazards. The greens are relatively small compared to the wide fairways, so the course is fun for those who like to "cut loose" off the tee box then sharpen their shorter iron skills as they get closer to the pin. Pace was good at 4 1/2 hours. The customer service was excellent, and my buddies and I enjoyed our free day of golf.

Played yesterday, 11/6, and although the wind was very gusty, the course conditions were beautiful--even better then when I played this past April. Despite a very dry summer, and some very hot days the past two months, the course looks and plays like a champ.
