Played Sunday afternoon, twilight rate. Course was not crowded with a decent pace which picked up after the front 9.

Greens were bumpy. You need a sharp blade to cut grass. Strongly suggest you make sure those shears are sharp enough otherwise you get uneven cuts and bumpiness. Overall health of greens decent but very bumpy with twilight sun. Fairways were decent with good coverage. Rough was mixed back of thin and thick lies -- Just like Gump's box of chocolates. Bunkers were treated like waste areas without grounding the club. Tee boxes were unlevel but playable. Course is really wet on and around greens and tee boxes. In between you get a mixed bag of cut grass, not so cut grass and bare dirt.

It was hot so bring you own water as the drinking fountains may work but not the most hygienic looking. Thankfully they were operational when I played.

Played today Wednesday. The chipping area and practice greens are open.

Tee boxes are thin and uneven.
Fairway and rough are a mixture of few different grasses, cut to same height. About 40% nice grass, 40% thin areas and 20% bare ground.
Bunkers have good amount of sand. Thin in some areas but very playable.
Greens are slow, bumpy and spongy but no bare spots, looks green and healthy.

Played back 9 Saturday & Sunday. 1.5-2 hour round both days.

Pace of play decent. Slow players are just slow; even with 10 minute increments.

Greens in decent shape. They don't run entirely true with med speed. Well struck will respond well enough and keep on line longer.

Fairways are hit/miss. Loads of thin lies to just plain dirt. More grass than dirt though. Rough cut to same height as fairways so not a problem.

Bunkers are OK. Decent sand, just a little thin in spots.

Tee boxes were relatively flat and easy to hit from.

Overall green complexes in good to decent shape. Fairways and rough are lacking but playable.

Everyone in SoCal knows how hard it is getting good tee times right now, so when my Saturday magically opened up on Friday afternoon, I was lucky enough to call Alondra and find out they had a cancellation for a single just 20 mins before, and it was for 11:30am. Dumb luck so I took it and never looked back. Well, at least until after the round. Got some range balls and a cart and was paired with three nice gents. The carts are as archaic as it gets so bring your own amenities. There was no cart service and only the snack window at the turn - convenient enough. POP actually ended up better than we thought, but we were behind an incredibly slow foursome that was at least one to two holes behind all day. Rhythm was tough to come by. And conditions didn't help. Right now at Alondra you're going to find some pretty abysmal and dried out, thin fairways, but I always try and look at that as good practice for better-kept tracks. The rough is no better, so finding a good lie will be one of the best parts of your day, but it won't happen all that often. Bunkers were dreadful. Hardpan, recently muddy messes. Tee boxes were just okay. Greens were apparently fixed up a few weeks ago and they are actually not too bad except a few too many had chewed up, sanded over scars across them, but the untainted ones were okay. Tame and uninteresting, but rolled well enough. I have some very memorable personal achievements at Alondra (my only hole in one for example), but it will always be an 'emergency' round at this point going forward. And there's nothing wrong with that. Maybe one day it will somehow magically evolve into a well-kept, well-conditioned course, but until then, make plans to play elsewhere unless you're in a pinch. (Update: Just saw my bill for this on my bank statement and it was $57 to ride ... um, where do I update my 'Worth the price' selection?)

Greens ran with medium/slow speed but very bumpy so much in fact you really had to hit the ball square to ensure it had even a remote chance of staying on course.
Bunkers around greens had sand but hard packed. No rakes so I wonder why the superintendent staff rake the bunkers in the AM because by the PM when I played they were in sore shape if they do in fact rake the bunkers daily.
Fairways in OK shape, loads of mixed fescue and really thin lies. Rough cut to same height as fairway. Tee boxes in OK shape perhaps best part. Grass around tee boxes are thick.

Pace of play for 9 holes -- 1 hour for a Sunday!!!!
Personally though I get better prices at City courses that is unless you can actually get on a city course, this county course is OK in my book. Not the greatest, not the best, just a passing grade here.

Played Sunday afternoon with Shelter-in-Place restrictions relaxed and the course is in perhaps the best shape I have ever seen it. Check out my photos of Alondra on the GK App. Tee Boxes are lush. I like to tee my ball low and the tee boxes are cut slightly below where I normally tee up. They are flat and lush. Fairways are mowed low with very good coverage. Bunkers have no rakes. They are rock hard but treat it like a waste area and you can get out. Fairway bunkers are firm. Bunkers around the green complex are hard-pan but playable. Rough is deep. Easy to loose a ball from just off the fairway. It's very thick and sticky to hit from. Greens are SLOW and soft. It's expected. You need to hit it firm to keep it straight. Noticed that if you hit it firm it will roll fairly true with little bounciness. They are practicing good COVID-19 mitigation. Sales are credit/debit only. No cash. No rakes and a little foam insert in the cup. There was good spread. You MUST make reservations prior to playing. NO walk-on's allowed. Bring a mask for use in common and high traffic areas. Otherwise it's clean fresh air on a course with decent conditions. If you want super fast greens I would wait. I believe they are slowly cutting down the greens to speed them up but that may come later rather than sooner. Perhaps a little top dressing may be in order soon to firm up the greens. It was a welcome sight to see after the restrictions have been relaxed. And they make you feel safe with the mitigation strategies in place. Being one of a few choices here in the South Bay it's golf, they are open and ready for business.

Several holes on the back had this while others I felt looked healthy and rolled pretty true Fairways a thin. Rough varies in height from thick to thin. Tee boxes are flat and playable. Bunkers are mixed bag. For most part they are thin and hard packed.

Pace of play was slowish only because I played with a few newer players. Not a problem.

The fact that this is not a really busy course makes it a nice fix for me when the golf bug bites. Mileage will vary per recommendation. At the moment the greens are a bit splotchy so you really can't expect pristine conditions.

Played here on 2-16 which was a fairly busy Sunday morning. I had never played here before and having read the previous reviews I did not have high hopes. This is probably the worst conditioned LA county course I have played.
Tee boxes were a mixed bag, some very thin and beat up and some looked like the had not been cut in a week.
Now i understand that its winter and don't expect lush fairways but these are just plain terrible. Lots of dried out areas some just dirt and big clumps of weeds which give you some crazy bounces. Lots of leaves both on the fairways and in the rough.The rough was not much better just a little longer.
The bunkers have zero sand and most are just compacted dirt.
The greens had good coverage but were really bumpy and very slow. They looked like they had not been cut or rolled in days.
Now for a Sunday morning the pace of play was decent at about 4 1/2 hours and the staff at checkin was friendly. We never saw a cart all day.
Only reason I played here was my son in law lives very close and is a very new golfer so it was a good place for him otherwise I don't think I would go back until conditions improve.

Late to review. Played the back-9 early morning on Saturday.

Greens rolled pretty well with medium pace. Green to green consistency was decent. They rolled true with a nice pace. Bunkers had a thin layer of sand with hard-packed underneath. Fairways had decent coverage. Truthfully a mix of nice to thin lies. your mileage will vary.
Rough cut to same height of fairways. Tee boxes were OK, flath-ish and decent coverage.

Pace of play was brisk. Group I was with was just slow. We were perhaps a hole behind before the first front 9 group reached us on 16.

Overall I was impressed with conditions. It's not a tough course just a decent place with currently decent conditions.

I needed this round to get in my golf fix and with conditions improving it's one of those courses you could play regularly.
