Home of the thin lies. It won't disappoint.

Greens have recovered. Still very bumpy in the afternoon sun. Tricky to hold the line on putts. You definitely have to strike the putt solid to get through the bounciness. Greens rolled to slow/medium speed. Fairways for the most part a mix of thin lies, thinner lies and some decent lies. I honestly aim for the green spots and hope for the best. Bunkers are thin as well. Tee boxes are flatish. Just have to hunt around the tee markers to find a flat spot.

Pace of Play was a quick 3.5 hours. Not bad but the conditions are at best mediocre. I often wonder why I play here and then I finish a round that quick and I am reminded why I play here.

Needed a bit of a reboot round so figured that a pretty straight forward course like Alondra would do the trick to get me out of my funk. I was wrong. I always seem to forget that playing a course that's in relatively poor condition makes golf harder, not easier.

Lies are thinner. Tee boxes are junkier. Putts are funkier.

Right now, Alondra is just slightly below average in all aspects. The fairways are actually a little better than I expected them after the rains, but it's still quite easy to find yourself in some thin grass or dirt altogether. The rough is the same. The greens are bumpy and slow but also not as bad as I've seen them before.

The bunkers are very thin and it's tough to decide whether to simply try and chip out of them or take (non-existent) sand. I opted for the latter and probably added 4-5 strokes throughout the day because of it. Tee boxes are in their general poor shape.

I also had the distinct displeasure of playing with three young dudes and simply no f*!@#s were given. They talked incessantly during putts (using colorful language at all times), drove their carts right to the green aprons and onto the tee boxes, did power slides off the fairways and one of them even hit a horrible tee shot onto the opposite fairway, drove his cart out there paying ZERO attention to the group ahead of us trying to tee off, ate some food, then proceeded to hit his shot 20 yards and do it all over again.

Yeah, it was that kind of a day. I always have a soft spot for Alondra and I'm sure your experience with the clientele would likely be different, but it certainly feeds into the 'you get what you pay for' moniker. By the way, that was $32 to walk. You tell me if it was worth it.

Played yesterday Sunday Afternoon Twilight. Played 18 in under 3 1/2 hours. Course was EMPTY!! That was the highlight, although much of the conditions on the course is sketchy there were some definite pluses. Greens were OK. Poa is in full bloom from water and warmer weather. They were a little firm with medium/slow speed. You really had to strike your putt well to keep it online but definitely easy to putt once you had the pace down. Greens were firm, and there is work around each of the greens so you really cannot run a ball up. From what I saw they punched the collars. Aside from Hole 16 (Handicap 2 par 4) which was punched a few weeks ago that is the only maintenance. Fairways were OK. Mostly thinish lies. Rough cut to the same height as fairway so not a problem. Bunkers in fairways were hard packed and easy to play through; not a lot of sand so if you hit a thin shot at a fairway bunker good chance it may bounce out. Bunkers around green are a mixed bag of hard packed, not sand and decent sand. Happy with pace of play. I can see greens being a problem for most folks but for me it was decent once I figured out what to do to get the pace. And 18 holes in under 3 1/2 hours on a Sunday at Twilight, who is going to complain?

Had a match play tourney here on 2/10. If you go into Alondra knowing what to expect, it's not as bad. We had a guy in the match play who complained nonstop from Hole 1 to Hole 18, but we all had to play the same course.

The fairways were very firm which led to some big drives but at the same time tough to hit off hardpan at times.

Greens were very bumpy which made for some adventurous putting, hard to get into a groove with those greens.

Found myself in a few traps and they all had a little sand and your wedge bounced off the bunker. Most times after you hit your bunker shot, you look down and see the hard dirt underneath what little sand there was.

Many dry spots throughout the course. The most difficult was the dry spots around the greens which made chipping tough.

Overall, it was a good time due to the fun of playing matchplay and the guys we played against were really good guys.

Conditions are OK. Tee boxes were flat for the most part. Two of them were closed or at least pushed forward which shows signs they are trying to improve their tee boxes. Fairways are hit and miss. I always aim for the greener spots. It's a mix between thin and relatively thin lies. Loads of mud line the fairways. It appears they really need to fix their sprinklers from the amount of mud that line their fairways and rough. Rough cut to the same height as the fairways so not very penal. Bunkers are hard packed. Greens look to be the best I have seen in a while. They run a little faster than normal for this place (Which says a lot) but with the afternoon sun the greens tend to get a bit more bumpier. Overall the greens held their line well with a well struck putt but for the most part were inconsistent from green to green.

Pace of play was slow considering it was after the holidays but bearable. Almost didn't finish and we were a threesome behind a really slow foursome.

Played here last week, Been playing the long course since late 1960s, it is in the worst shape I have ever seen it !!. Mud holes from leaking sprinklers, hard pan all over, fairways and rough, greens were in good shape and that was the only plus about the whole day. We had lots of trouble finding balls because of the mud, had to dig out 5 or 6 times after looking for long times, lucky no one was behind us pushing. The greens would have been much more enjoyable if people would fix their ball marks, probably average fixing 6 to 10 per green.Somebody in the county has to do something to rectify this place or we will never go back. The bar was closed, the kitchen was closed and the employees seemed like they could care less .

Tried to play 9 at Super Twilight and very disappointed. $16.75 and still feel like I was ripped off. Greens are shameful. They really have to look at their mower. Their cut is uneven causing high/low spots on the green. It appears to have been punched with smaller tines as indicated by the look of the greens and the HUGE amount of mud around the front of the greens and the noticeable tire marks in the front of the greens. The greens are slow, don't hold their line and if you should happen to be lucky enough to get the ball to go on line it's easily knocked off because of some high/low spot from the mower. Short answer, bring your 4x4 ball. Notwithstanding twilight affecting the bumpiness of the greens, I honestly think it was even worse earlier in the day. Some of the holes were really rough cut, I would strongly suggest sharpening the darn hole puncher or better still doing it right the first time. Sound frustrated? You betcha? Nitpicking? Perhaps, but you tell me if you would enjoy your short putts getting knocked off line by some spot on the green you forgot to flatten or didn't see. I would hazard to say that even Harbor Park's greens are even better than here currently. And that is saying volumes. Fairways are thinning with bare spots. I try to aim for the green areas. Rough is cut to same height as fairways. Bunkers appear to be hard-packed and playable. Tee boxes are uneven but get flatter further away from the stones. It's disappointing about the conditions of this course. It's fun with not a lot of trouble but honestly when you create such a sub-standard product no wonder you don't get a lot of play. I would avoid until better conditions appear. (I would hazard to say not sooner and a lot later.)No sense in beating yourself over poor greens. There are better places to play at better prices.

Greens were brutally disgracefull. 2 and 3 or 4 (don't recall which) had some fungus going on with sanded areas. All the greens were shaggy and slow except a couple on the back nine. None were like the practice green which was pretty good. Bumps were consistent throughout the course.

The fairways varied from dried hard pan old school drought Alondra and lush kikuyu. The rough was up in spots.

Overall, the course is a disgrace to the County golf system.

With regard to service, I can't get past the bizarre sequence of groups, single, single, woman giving playing lesson to six and ten year old girls, threesome, twosome, twosome.... The fact we played in 4.5 hours on Sunday mid morning did not make me feel any better. We were in the group behind the playing lesson. It could not get over fast enough.

What can I say about Alondra?! You have to know going into it that the course is always beat up, 5somes all over the place, and 5 hour rounds are the norm. If you experience anything positive, well than you just made out. I played Monday, August 21st at 2pm. The course was pretty wide open. After getting through a slow 4some at the turn, we had the course wide open for the back nine. We finished at 5:45pm, so POP was great at 3:45. The course is struggling. Tee boxes are ok. The fairways are a mix of hardpan, GUR, and spotty grass coverage. The rough is about the same. The traps we actually decent and playable. The greens were HORRIBLE. 3-4 of them were sanded, 10 of them were crazy bumpy and slow, and about 3-4 were just 'ok'. Again, anything above pretty bad here is a bonus. Today the POP was good, so I guess we made out, hahahaha. I wish they could get it in the shape it was in around 2014-2015. I remember it being in great shape then.
