Played yesterday and it was very sloppy and wet. The course has reached (IMO) its saturation point. Needs time to dry out. Much standing water, wet rough and muddy areas. They even had CPO which is very rare for here. The one bright point of the day were the greens. Though not mowed, they putted very well and in a few days/weeks will be excellent. They were already working on the traps, tee boxes were very good. Not going to rate the course, as it would be unfair to do so. Customer service excellent at all levels.

Played here yesterday with a 6:12 tee time. Played as a five some in 4.5 hours walking. I have played Los Verdes many times and always enjoy the challenge and the views. The course conditions are always a mixed bag though. They usually keep the greens nice which always brings us back and this time was no different. The greens were the best part. Rolled true with a few bumps and medium fast but are always a challenge to read. The tee boxes were mostly level and nice to hit from and the sand was nice as well. Now for the fairways and rough.........very patchy and hard to get a good lie anywhere. Many areas had large patches of crab grass weeds just off the fairways.. I think they could do a much better job clearing these areas and by doing it may even help the pace of play! Not! Anyway, we had fun and will go back but just not as often since there are many other courses in better shape however not with these awesome views.

Looking for some dry conditions so I played Los Verdes today as this course drains better than any other I can think of. 7:20 ended up being 7:35 cuz the starter decided to let a couple groups out ahead of us. PoP was 4:40! I don't know how 24hrgolf gets in 3.5 hr rounds here ... he must tee off in the first few groups. Our group had a beginner which got us a hole behind, the group behind us was more like 1 and a half behind us, so I kinda see how it goes here. Throw in walking 5 somes and AmerGolf ... ta-duh! Anyway, conditions are good in the fairways but it's only the fairways. Anywhere else gets ugly and uglier the farther away you go. Wire grass gets worse each time I visit. Greens are consistently good Poa, though, so they got that going for them. And the views are unmatched, especially for $30 walking. Worth an occasional visit now, even though I used to play here every week.

Played today in a nice POP of 3.5. Course is in fairly good condition presently, though the fairways need mowing and a little more drying out (especially # 16) but overall played well. Tee boxes had been mowed and are fine. Bunkers appeared to be playable and heard no complaints. Greens had been mowed and putted great and fast. They lost one large tree behind # 3 and to the right of # 9 and some limb damage on a few trees on the back 9. Customer service excellent at all levels. This place will be great when spring hits or even Feb/March provided no more heavy storms come through? But I would say the course came through these latest storms just fine.

Played today in 3 hours. No rain at all. Course is handling the rain very well. Fairways are wet and some have standing water. So one plays LCP and it works. Tee boxes are just fine. Bunkers are playable (quite surprised). Greens, though not cut putted well and are draining just fine. Customer service at all levels great. Did not rate due to wet conditions. But the course is playable.

Played yesterday on a cool/clear morning, before the rain. POP was right on 4 hours. Customer service as usual, excellent at all levels. Greens were in very nice shape and fast, even with the recent rains. Bunkers were in good shape and heard no complaints. Fairways were still damp from recent rains (no roll) and rutted with many cart tire marks, due to wet conditions (best to play winter rules) and I am sure the super would have preferred CPO but no doubt would have faced angry customers and some would drive on them anyways. Tee boxes were all fine, as expected.

What better place to take out of town guests than to Los Verdes on a near perfect December morning. Never any concerns as to frost and because this course drains so well, the recent rains did not present any issues.

Greens rolled well, fairways were thin but still playable. The rough, what there is of it was a combination of mud, mulch, spotty grass, etc. However playing here at this time of year is not about the course conditions. Hey, it's December and you're golfing in your shirtsleeves. What could be better. It didn't even bother me about the pace of play - just thrilled to be outside on such a splendid day. Thank goodness for living in Southern California.

Spent a gorgeous Christmas Day at Los Verdes and was pleased with a round that started at 11:30 but had enough time to finish with a fairly ample amount of daylight. Two days after the heavy rains and one day of drying the course out made Los Verdes conditions quite nice as it drained well and played very nicely.

Found the fairways to have a few thin areas but overall the coverage was good. The rough is a different story - mulch, dirt, dried out and patchy in many areas - keep it straight and don't worry about it. The greens were rolling quite nicely I thought and were in good overall shape - accepted shots well and rolled true, albeit a few bumps here and there. The traps were in good shape overall, and the tee boxes were okay, but a few chewed up a little bit, but no big problem.

Best part of the day were the gorgeous, clear sky views all the way to Santa Barbara Island and the Channel Islands up north, and the POP which, while it seemed was moving much slower, actually clocked in a just below five hours - which is pretty great for a Sunday at Los Verdes. No frills carts but you can definitely walk this course. While there are some poorly designed holes here (like 9, 13 and 14), overall it's a challenging and fun course when you get a day like the one we got.

Played today in a POP of 4 hours. Course is in good shape. Tee boxes are fine and no issues. Fairways had good grass coverage and provided good lies and roll on tee shots. No problems with traps, other than footprints of lazy golfers who won't rake. There are areas of rough off some fairways, that have appeared with recent rains and can be troublesome. Greens were in great shape for putting/chipping and were fast. Customer service it's usual excellent self at all levels. For this time of year, the course is in good shape and very playable IMO.
