Played Tuesday 5/27/14. Special Rate off Tee Time, and it's not worth the $140 fees. Paying the special rate, your treated as such. Given maybe 15 balls to warm up with, but was told you can pay for more if you want more than that. GPS in golf cart is left off because of the cheaper rate, so used my phone GPS. Tee boxes were good,Fairways just OK, green were as slow as any public course I've ever played. Started at 10:30, and the Poa Ana was already long and flowering, not even sure the green were mowed that day. Views are spectacular, but play the 9 hole course at Terranaea just up the road, for a lot less money, better conditions, and not treated like a "Special Rate" golfer, with the same ocean views.

The most unbelievable golf course I have ever played. Got out to Trump on Thursday at an 11:10 tee time under perfect weather conditions. When you pull up to the club house they have free valet that takes your clubs and puts them on carts ready for you by the putting green. The clubhouse is gorgeous with a large restaurant and pro shop. When you enter you feel like your in a million dollar mansion over looking the ocean. Once you pay you can go order food from the deli where they have someone grilling up one of the most amazing hot dogs ive ever had for you. Also by playing the course you have full access to there state of the art locker room after your round. Next you drive over to the large grass range over looking the Pacific ocean. Now to the course! Sadly the course had just aerated the greens a week before but still rolled fine and looked pretty good. Every thin else on the course was in absolutely perfect shape. The layout of the course is extremely difficult with very narrow fairways on most holes. Many challenging greens and interesting bunkering. The highlight of the course are the many waterfalls and amazing ocean views. All in all, 100% worth the extra money even though there are great deals online. Cant wait for next chance I have to come out to the Trump.

Played Trump on Sunday 2/23/14 under the most perfect weather conditions you could imagine. 70 degrees and NO wind! Will try to keep review short and simple. Customer service was first class as you would expect from anything with the Trump name attached to it. Grand clubhouse, excellent well stocked pro shop and friendly bag attendants, pro shop, and starter all made the pre-round experience fantastic. You get a small warm up bag of balls with your greens fee. Course conditions were pretty good all the way around. Greens were smooth and true, but sanded and definitely running slower than I imagined they would. Tees, fairways, and rough were all lush with pretty good run out in the fairways. Bunkers were a beautiful Augusta white. As you all know the reason you play here is for the view and there isn't a single hole that does not provide a great view of the Pacific Ocean! With that said, I found the layout itself to be solid but unspectacular. If you take away the ocean views and million dollar waterfalls on #1 & #17, then you basically have yourself a course in the $75 range. The entire course is built into the side of a hill and many holes are next to each other in a step like fashion (think Westridge in La Habra) and everything breaks toward the ocean. This is not a knock because I had a great time, I'm just saying in my opinion the layout was average. Many similar holes with lots of bunkering. Bring your straight game off the tee of you'll be penalized heavily. My buddy had a foursome voucher that got us a fantastic rate but I don't think I would ever pay the rack rate here. If I could get another great deal then I would return. Crossed another one off the list! FYI, if you play on Sunday like we did, golfers can enjoy the Sunday brunch (highly recommended) for $35 instead of the usual $75.

Got the pleasure of playing trump today with a buddy. Crazy foggy for the entire front 9. Made things tough for some one who hasn't played there. Conditions were solid but not quite what you would expect for $200 plus. Tee boxes and greens were a little furry and needed a cut. There are some great green complexes. Playing very soft overall. From the blues it's actually pretty short and the play is a fairway wood for most holes. Would play again if the price was right

Played this course today. played short due to the roll in the fairways. I thought the greens were as good as I have ever seen them. As a plus handicap golfer I truly enjoyed the course conditions. I wish they could keep the fairways hard and fast all year. If you want to test your game this is a great place to get a wake up call, "a shot missed played is a shot lost forever". Too much fun!

Played under mild conditions on 9/21/13, from the blues. Got a decent discount on EZ links (145). First time here, and would say I was somewhat disappointed. The fairways were average at best, with noticeable thin areas, hardly distinguishable from the above average muni. I was in a couple of bunkers which seemed to need more sand (or it's my poor bunker play). And the greens were anything but smooth and fast. The views are very nice and all but I don't think it's worth the asking price. Finished the round (4some) in about 4:40 without any waiting at the tee boxes.

Played today with jralias and a single, $109 EZ Links Tee Time Special @ 11:20am. Pace of play was 4.5 hours and could have been slightly faster but there was an SCGA Tournament ahead of us. As mentioned previously, there were some bare spots in the fairways but everything else was in good shape. Happy I can cross this course off my list and it was lots of fun but not worth the rack rate in my opinion. If you can get a deal somewhere, its worth it to play the course at least once. Recommend. Edit: I forgot to mention that some of the bunkers, mainly on the back nine, appeared to be fluffy on top but were actually wet underneath. A minor quibble but just wanted to note it. Also, as jralias noted we hit off of mats on the driving range this day but the course does usually allow you to hit off the grass.

Finally played here and can now scratch it off my lists of "must play" courses. $109 green fee on EZ links - The most I have ever paid for a round of golf. I'm more of a $15 - $50 budget / value golfer, but figured, why not, might as well play here one time. Played with a buddy and another single. 4.5 hour pace. Good customer service, no drinking water on course but cart girl made plenty of passes and they give you two bottled waters when you get the cart (they forgot to put ice in the cooler on the cart). GPS included. Comp driving range balls, but you do hit off mats. As previous reviews have mentioned, fairways are a little brown in areas, but everything else is good or great. Bring extra balls, fairways are tight and unforgiving. Pro shop is expensive - $9 for a sleeve of Burner balls. Enjoy those amazing ocean views, that's what you are paying for. Quoted $100 replay rate at 4pm which I thought was ridiculous. Worth it? For me, $109 for a round of golf is really pushing it on my budget. I've played nicer conditioned courses for less and won't be back unless a really cheap deal hits, although I doubt it will .... but I'll say recommend - play it at least once if you live here or are visiting from out of town.

Something must have happened to the fariways since the review of Trump last week. I have played Trump approximately 10 times on an EZ links special tee time costing $115 and $130, and have always loved it, and a great venue to bring out of towners for the uuality of the golf and the breathtaking views. Everything appeared as always from the friendly staff in the pro shop and starter. Drove up to the first hole and noticed the white tee was on a downhill lie and the box was very shaggy like rough. Then driving to our balls noted that there was hardly any grass on the fairway with bare spots predominate. Unfortunately this was the case for the majority of the rest of the course. The fairways reminded me of playing on an not well maintained public course The rough was very lush but unkempt for a premium priced course and the vegetation around seemed not to have the tender loving care normally experienced. I must admit nothing can ruin those views.

What is perplexing is that the greens and the sand were as nice as always, what happened to those fairways? I am also perplexed as to why the pro shop or the starter said nothing about the conditions and gave us the option if we wanted to play, considering the price they charge. When we finished the guy cleaning our clubs asked the perfunctory "How was your round". When my group described the conditions of the fairway he replied he will notify the pro shop. Really, you guys aren't aware that the fairway looks like Encino/Balboa after the course was flooded by rain? C'mon.

After round sitting on the balcony enjoying the view and a beverage with friends is priceless and ended the experience on an upbeat note.

I will not be back however until I am assured that the course conditions are up to the price they charge.
