Played today at 12:30 from the blue tees Not much to add from my lest review. Fairways and tee boxes have a bit more divot damage and the holidays probably have something to do with that. Greens are still a veritable garden of craters of all sizes and shapes. Footprints were holding in them as well but look at my tee time for the reason why. It was a bit slow today (POP 4:45) and we finished 20 minutes after sundown I believe. Most of the blue tees were shoved to the front of the tee boxes and a few were even moved up beyond that. Good course for the $59 we payed for twilight.

The course in in solid shape and the fairway transition from (insert one of about 5 different grass types here) to kikuyu is nearly complete. fairways are much better than I have seen them in the past and the rough is following along. Greens are in good shape with ball marks being the only problem. I fixed more than my share of craters today. Bunkers were also good with plenty of sand. Tee boxes were thin but I had no problems with them. POP was right around 4.5 hours and the service was solid. All in all a good day. Be sure to find a deal because normal rack rates can be a bit on the "Wait, really?" side.

Played on 11-15-14, Saturday morning. POP was 4:15. First time playing here, and I found the course interesting in design, tough but fair. The greens weren't overly fast and some were hard to read. The fairways were in good condition overall, and the tee boxes were mostly level. Most of the non-par 3 tee shots had something unique about them, and a few holes had major ob/hazards that could swallow up your tee shot. I was in the sand once and found it to be of high quality. This course is on the pricier side so I can't play it often but look for a discount and it will be worth your time.

1st time here. Great course, challenging, thick rough but if you hit straight will be rewarded. Greens had good pace and were in great shape. Good deals on Teeoff.com.

Greens are in the best shape I have seen and I've been playing here for 10 years. Smooth, true, medium firm, and above average speed. Great work by grounds crew here to get these in shape very quickly after aeration in early September.
Fairways are filling in as well. Just a few spots in middle of transition, but overall quite good.
Rough was being cut on this day, so should be very playable over the next week or two. Lush, but fair.
Bunkers I found were very good as well. Very clean and more consistent depth than in the past.
There was a fairly large shotgun outing going out noon on Friday, and I hope the patrons appreciated the quality and took care of it while out there. Seems the 'once or twice a year players' that frequent some of these kinds of outings have little regard for course conditions. I'll be back out there on Sunday and will submit another review.
As stated in many other reviews for BG, fun, challenging layout, great views and excellent customer service inside and out. Enjoy this course now.

I found the course to be in the best condition I can ever remember. The greens were near perfect. (Except for the thinnest layer of sand(?) which did not affect the roll or speed. So long as you wiped your ball before putting, you were fine. (Early morning the ball is wet, but I'm sure later in the day it wouldn't even be a factor)

Overall the course was great with the exception of some of the rough. (Very spotty) Traps were excellent. Staff was very co-operative in getting me out first so I could zip around in about 2 1/2 hours. A perfect day to play golf ! Love living in So Calif.

Course is in good shape. Saw a fairway or 2 that were being aerated with big punch marks, but not that big of a deal if we landed in one (we'd just take it out). Greens were in pretty good shape - not quite as fast as I remember them - also a bit bumpy as I played later in the afternoon.

Pace of Play was the downfall of the round. On the first hole there was a 4some in the fairway, a 3some on the tee, and our 3some on deck. Turns out there were 2 other foursomes in front of all that. We waited on every single shot and it seemed impossible to get a rhythm going. There was a high school tournament behind us so apparently they just pushed us all out ahead.

Overall I like the course. I wish I could afford to play it more often but rather only do when I get a deal. The layout is fun and difficult. There is lots of trouble on the course so don't expect to go low unless you are a serious shooter. The backside especially gets quite narrow and quirky at times (that par 5).

This has become my go-to course when I want to play a step above my local muni. I'd consider this a very good middle-tier course that has the ability to compete with some of the more pricier courses.... Continue »

This has become my go-to course when I want to play a step above my local muni. I'd consider this a very good middle-tier course that has the ability to compete with some of the more pricier courses. The reseeded with poa and the results are pretty good. Its an odd grass as it tends to lift up the ball a bit more, which makes the rough a little easier to handle sometimes. I like the layout of the course a lot. The bunkers could use some work as it didn't find it fluffy but a bit wet and hard. The greens are sluggish and soft. They feel like you're walking on memory foam. Nice atmosphere, and the staff is very good. If you can keep your ball somewhat straight on this narrow course, you'll do well. It definitely plays to know the course as there's numerous shots where you're hitting to an elevated green and you're pretty much blind to where you want to aim or to exactly how long to hit it (even with a range finder or the cart's GPS). I hope they continue with their maintenance as they're on the cusp of being a premier place.

Played 10/4/14. Greens 95-100% healed from 9/8 aeration. In as good of shape as I've seen in a long time. Receptive but smooth and fast. Very good condition. Rated 9/10.

Fairways are still a bit of a mixed bag, but for the most part, good to very good. Only a few spots of transition to go. If you keep it in the middle, good chance you'll find good turf. While kikuyu is filled in most area, and is cut low, still can be a bit spongy. Rated 7/10.

I found 4 greenside and one fairway bunker. Greenside were a little thin, packed sand under a thin layer of fluffy sand. Kind of deceptive. Do not recommend a high bounce sand wedge. Fairway bunker was wet and thin. Rated 6/10

Tee boxes, while quite level throughout, were a bit chewed up on a few holes, particularly the par 3's. Just need a little care and common sense divot fill from patrons. Rated 7/10

Really very good overall conditions. Especially pleased with green recovery early summer when riddled with ball marks. Go play now.
