walk on for twilight 2/1. had free afternoon, so walked on without a wait. pro shop got me out almost immediately. the tee boxes were lush with some uneven spots. fairways were surprisingly lush. bunkers were in good shape, raked/not hollowed out. greens weren't bad either. good roll although a tad slow. finished round in about over 5 hrs plus. good bang for buck experience.

In preparation for an upcoming scramble tournament, I decided to get a practice round at this course in Costa Mesa. The course being near the ocean, the weather was very tolerable when the temperature elsewhere was in the 100's. I usually don't like to play any course under 6000 yds because distance has never been my problem, only the direction, so I was somewhat apprehensive this course being 5538 yds from the tip. For Wednesday, the course was pretty busy, probably because the green fee is very inexpensive, $24 to walk and probably a lot cheaper for more elderly golfers, and there were many elderly golfers. For a short course, I played the round in just under 5 hours with a lot of time to think between shots. The course itself was in decent shape with some expected dry spots in the fairways, the bunkers were nice with reasonable amount of sands, and the greens were actually in pretty good shape, although a bit on mushy side - not all bad because most of the greens were pretty undulated and slopy. Over all, a fair par 70 track, certainly on the very short side with no real penal holes, so it's a good practice course with few drivable par 4s and reachable par 5s.

Play this course at least once a week and will continue to do so. Full marks to the greenkeeper and his staff. Great job bearing in mind the traffic on this course. Still needs more sand in the bun... Continue »

Played on Sunday, May 3. Greens were still a little bumpy from being aerated recently, but not bumpy enough to push putts off line. Finished 18 in about 5 hours, which isn't too bad for a sunday.

For being a "little course" it sure plays "big". Despite the short yardage, there are a lot of quality shots that need to be played. The greens were very nice and present a good challenge. I believe some of t he holes are mismeasured. I think that if they remeasure this course and move the tees a bit to bring it over 6000 yards, this course would receive a lot more respect.

Course conditions were in pretty good shape and greens were consistent; however, pace of play on Sunday (which is getting worse) was outright awful. Plan on playing for 5+ hours. You will have your typical 4 and 5-somes who usually do not know the rules and obviously take more time than needed.

Group in front of us was one guy who brought a spectator and 3 older Asian women; their averages drives were 120 yards and they were teeing off from the blues. The guy in front also started hitting people's balls who landed on his fairway back towards them. The course marshalls don't seem to enforce the rules on Sundays.

If you come on a Sunday then play Los Lagos.

Long par 3's and par 4's. You have to earn every shot to do well here. People are nice, the course itself is in good shape with nice greens. Overall there are not alot of hazards, but there are some very intimidating bunkers protecting the greens, especially on the back 9. I will definately play here again once my game improve.
