Had an 8:53 a.m. tee time yesterday and finished about 12:40. Course is in great shape except for greens which are still recovering from aeration earlier this month and are sandy and bumpy. Tee boxes, fairways green and lush, some very wet spots seen. Cart path and tee box under renovation on #4 so tees are well forward.

Played Sunday, first time in a while because there is always slow play 5+ hours and Sunday was no exception. First the good green and tee boxes where amazing like normal but the fairways where absolute garbage there is no difference between the rough and fairway just a clumpy mess. I always applaud the greens keepers for how they keep the greens smooth and nice as well as the tee boxes but they need to do something about the fairway. When you play here be prepared to wait if you tee off after 9am the first hole is 411 yards but plays shorter then a real short par three for hole two i have seen 3 groups stacked up on this hole which is embarrassing. Over all id give it a 5 out of 10 and if they keep the fairways up its a very fun course

I only play here occasionally, but I am always impressed with the overall condition of this course. The greens were wonderful! In fact the entire course is in really nice shape. While certainly not a very long course, because of the condition and accessibility, it's nice to get out early and zip around in a couple of hours.

Ok this was my first time playing here and my last time.

1st off the pace of play was ridiculously slow. 5 hours. It took 2 hours to play 6 holes.
2nd. The marshal is worthless there. When I asked him about the pace of play. He reply "so what do you want me to do". I also asked why 5-somes were being let out on the course? His reply "you are a 2-some they let you". He was rude.
3rd. The first hole a regular picked my ball up and when asked he said " I didn't pick anything up. I watched the guy.
4th. Another group of regulars rode out in the fairway when I was ready to hit the ball. The guy just threw his hands up.
Seriously this is the last time I play in Orange County. People around there are just rude.
For the same rate I rather play in Riverside County. At least people know how to respect one another.

Played today, 8/11 at 10:45, finished in about 4.5 hours, decent weekend pace. The course is in very good condition from tee to green. The tee boxes were a bit shaggy, but mostly level and undamaged. The fairways and rough were very lush, and the rough was also quite sticky and difficult to play from with the ball sitting down. The bunkers I found myself in were somewhat firm but quite playable. The greens had minimal ball mark damage, and were medium speed and true rolling.

I really enjoy the risk/reward options presented by the layout here. There are plenty of doglegs that can be cut off, but if you end up in the rough you will usually pay for it. Nice, wide fairways, mature but well-spaced trees and small, undulating greens give this place an old country club feel. Definitely worth the price of admission. Very green, very lush, and fun.

Used to play both CM courses a lot, but it's been over a year since I've been out there for a weekday twilight round. Some people might look down on the overall short yardage of this course, but it's one of the most fun layouts around. Lots of risk/reward options and scoring opportunities. The only major challenge here is the greens. Relatively small with lots of undulation, and you can almost always expect 3-4 pin placements that make you scratch your head. There were some downright evil ones today on side slopes and edges of tiers! Just a fun course I always enjoy playing for a more laid-back evening round.

They have made a few alterations since my last visit here. I noticed a number of trees missing (including a few that had a definite impact on the angles of some holes) and they cut down the "bunker from hell" that used to guard the super-short 15th hole. Takes a little bite out of this very fun hole, but it's still big enough to keep this a great risk/reward shot off the tee.

The course was in great shape, probably the greenest I've seen it. Fairways and rough were green and lush. Lots of fluffy lies on fairways and a mixed bag in the rough. When the ball sits up, it's nice to hit from, but if it's sitting down it can be a b$tch to hit from. The tee boxes were mostly level and very lush...almost a bit too shaggy if you ask me. By the time you get your tee firmly into the ground, the grass comes up higher than I would personally prefer. The greens were in excellent shape. Firm and fast. They did get a bit shaggy toward the end of the round, but that's to be expected that late in the evening. I wasn't in any greenside bunkers, but I was in a couple of fairway bunkers. They were very thin and crunchy, which isn't so bad on a fairway bunker if you want to pick it clean, but if the greenside bunkers were like that it would suck (especially because some of the greenside bunkers here are deep and nasty).

Look forward to my next visit!

We played Mesa Linda on Saturday, 3/30. We teed off at 9:53 and we finished in 4.5 hours as a fivesome. This pace of play is probably not normal out at Costa Mesa, but it was awesome to be able to play that quickly.

There are a couple things that everyone should know going into playing this course. First, the greens are probably some of the best if not the best in Orange County. Seriously, I have no idea how the Superintendent keeps the greens so pure with that much play. He deserves a raise. Second, the course is EXTREMELY short but don't mistake it for easy. The greens are incredibly tricky and you can get some pin placements that keep you shaking your head. There are times when you miss a green by a few feet and would be lucky to chip it within 20 feet.

All in all, Mesa Linda is a fun place to play, the service is always great and I don't know if you'll get a better value in Orange County.
