There is no way this course deserves the 7.4 rating it is getting right now. The staff is absolutely one of the worst I have ever experienced. Booked tee time on Click4teetimes. The pro shop treated me like crap once they learned I booked it online. If you have a problem with it, then don't participate. Found out they were having an outing and asked if this would affect the play at all. After being looked at like I was some kind of moron I was brushed off then told no, why would it? I suppose I should expect 5 hour rounds on a Tuesday afternoon. No way. As far as the course, I'd give it 7 for condition and 5 for layout. Just not a good layout. Every par 4 seemed the same, 350 yards slight dogleg with some water. Most holes required about a 225 yard tee shot. Only 1 or 2 good par 4's and a few good par 5's. Overall, a real dud in my book.

Played on the 14th, with a seniors discount ($35)...course is in great condition. Greens have been verti cut, so breaks are strange in some cases, and rather slow, but otherwise great! Well worth th... Continue »

According to the fliers posted over the urinals, the course, after renovation, will still play 6100+ yards. It makes sense for them to build a new clubhouse on other side of road close to the driving... Continue »

According to the fliers posted over the urinals, the course, after renovation, will still play 6100+ yards. It makes sense for them to build a new clubhouse on other side of road close to the driving range. And, yes, new hole will be built past the current #11. #18 will become a dogleg right par four. Tee moved back and practice putting green will be the green. All the plans are on display in the clubhouse. I'm sure they're feeling the heat from Arroyo Trabuco (only $8 more to play there and the overall experience is much more upscale; the course much more challenging). Just hope SJH keeps it's mellow, low key ambience and doesn't become a $5 beer and $10 hamburger joint. They swear rates will stay low; we'll see. I won't play it during the rehab. Too much hassle.

I asked the same question, while they go through the tranisition, # 8 will become a par 3 & a par 4, # 12 will become a par 3 & a par 4. Don't know if the sides will switch right away but eventually the 1st hole will be on the other side of the road. Holes # 10 & 11 will be removed to make room for the new clubhouse & driveing range. Plans, if still in gear, are for the club to accquire land north of #11 for the new holes. More information than I was qualified for....If math is right it will make the course a par 68 while this goes on ......not a major problem, because it is well worth the fees....

Course is in great shape. Greens smooth and fast. Fairways tightly cut. Rough punishing. Get out soon cuz in May they're gonna rip the place up to do their new layout.
