Well, I play this course once or twice a month now due to it's cheap price and solid challenge. Today played around 1PM for only $13 via c4tt.com. The front 9 is a disaster. They appear to be starting to reseed many of the fairways on the front. Most fairways were yielding crappy lies with grass clumps, hardpan, bumps, divots, etc. The greens were aerated 3 weeks or so ago but still were very bumpy on the front 9. I think they might have aerated them again. Pretty much all tee boxes are in shambles. The 16th hole is still being reconstructed and is now playing as a par 3 instead of a par 5! The back 9 was in generally better shape, but not great shape. To make things worse, they decided to start a group on the back 9 just as we made the turn. Fortunately, we were still able to finish in about 4 1/2 hours. Overall, I am hoping with the new ownership, that this is the low point of this course and things will improve.

We paid $29.00 each online for our twosome at a 12PM tee time. Course is definitely a challenge for a 30 HCP hacker like me. Fairways narrow as advertised, and in horrible shape (pretty bad considering the rain we've gotten lately). As others have stated, you are either hitting off hard pan or in a swamp on your approaches. OB is only a matter of a couple yards from the fairway on many holes. Greens deserve some credit for being in good shape. They are by no means undulating, but they roll true and are a welcome positive aspect of the course.

The snack bar has a menu posted on the 9th tee with a phone number to place your order and pick up at the turn, that was quite convenient.

Overall, the course was enjoyable, considering the low price.

I was looking for a good value for my dollar spent. I found an on line tee time WITH cart at Shorecliffs. I thought; "Hey. less than $30 with a cart? What a deal!!

I got on easily enough with a twosome who have played the course before. One of their first comments was, "you'll find this course interesting." Boy they weren't kiddin!! The course is NOT for those out there who hook or slice them. This is a shotmakers course. On several of the holes, I felt like I was shooting through an hour glass!! The fairways were in less than optimal shape, to put it mildly. Half the time I was hitting off hard pan on others, the ground was soaked. More than once one of us made a comment about not ground under repair, but ground NEEDING repair!! After a couple of holes, I could see why they give you a riding cart. As you move from one green to the next tee, you have to pass under tunnels that cross under the streets surrounding the course. There is no way on God's planet that you would want to walk through these things. Wet and/or muddy and always an "adventure unto themseleves" I felt like I was on a ride at an amusement park and not on a golf course.

The ONE saving grace for this course is their greens. They are nice. Not too difficult to read and in pretty darn nice condition. Would I go back? Probably not.

The course DID give me an appreciation for a few other courses I've played that I thought were in bad shape!

WOW, narrow is an understatement. Bring your A game when playing this course, you must be able to hit the ball withing 10 yards right or left of where you want it. I agree with previous posts regarding the upkeep of the tee boxes and fairways, they need some work. Hole 13 par 3 147 from whites, plays uphill and at around 195, with a house on the right up the hill. I hit the house, played my 3rd shot into the greeside bunker when an old man yells down to me "here is your ball, it hit my house two feet from the window" I replied "thanks, sorry about that" his wife says " that was a terrible shot, you need some practice". "Yes maam it is obvious I need practice if I am hitting your house!" The course is under rated with a 127SR. Great course to work on your game. Leave your driver at home or be prepared to lose balls.

Tee's need work, find a flat spot, fairways were not in good shape, some brown spots and some areas that were thin or dirt. Some are being worked on, #16 was played as GUR all the way. Bunkers were mostly 2 inches of dirt with hardpan underneath, but the greens are great, smooth, fast, stay below the hole. $32 senior rate is good, but not worth an hours drive from Brea/Whittier area. We finished in 4 hrs.

Tee's need a little work, find a flat spot, Bunkers need a litte more sand, but the greens are great, smooth, fast, stay below the hole, if your a good putter you will be fine, play during week at around noon, 3 1/2 rounds, wide open no wait on holes.

this course isnt in good shape, it is pretty challenging. some holes are super narrow, greens ok, bunkers and fairways arent too good . however for the price id say its worth it, the ocean breeze is prevalent and lower temp than north oc. my experience here was ok, there are some people who live around the course(#6) that are jerks and apparently think their s*** dont stink.

Did I mention...71 degrees with ocean breezes. it sure beats the inland empire for summer afternoon rounds.
