Shorecliffs is a very tight course. As usual , it was a little ratty around the edges of the rough. They still have not fixed the par 5 16th. There was a landslide that took out the blue tee box. They have you hitting off mats up by the red tees. It looks as if they are trying to fix up the course. There were a couple occasions where there was piles of dirt off to the side of the holes, but no one working. It baffles me that they don't put a little money into this course. It could be awesome.
That aside, the greens were spectacular. The fairways are very much like your standard muni. Some barespots here and there. If you are a better golfer looking to keep your game sharp, this is a great course.
I believe that is why this course gets beat up by reviews. The higher handicap player is going to lose a lot of balls. For the single or low double digit handicapper, this course is a true hidden gem.

Played Shorecliffs last weekend. I found the course to be in nice shape. They have not aerified the greens yet so this is one of the few courses in Southern California that has playable greens right now.

I spoke with the starter and he mentioned to me that #14 along with a number of other tee boxes were being leveled and the tee areas re designed. I started playing Shorecliffs about 7 years ago and WOW what a difference!!! (dramatically better)

This course has certainly improved my game due to it's difficult nature.

To the staff of Shorecliffs... Keep doing what you are doing and keep up the good work. I will keep playing there and will enjoy the modest green fees and friendly atmosphere.

First off, the driving range blows, yardage only goes out to 200yards, range is in a shape of a pyramid (you onbiously hitting into the point), so cant really get a feel for how you're hitting that day. ALL of the tee boxes were uneven, riddled with divits and on hole 14 i think, you were hitting off of MATS!!! Not even nice mats, looks like the things have been there for 20 years!!! Fairways were all terrible, lots of bare spots with dirt as hard as concrete, fairways were as narrow as a typical living room. i could go on and on about this course, NOT WORTH THE $52 green fee!!!!!! Take that money, get a tee time and go to San Juan Hills!

I always have mixed feelings about playing here. Some of the holes are very narrow, and it's difficult to stay in the fairway. A slightly straying shot can be a lost ball. #13 is uphill and into a chute. Other holes are wide open and good scoring chances. The greens are in good condition. The tee boxes can be uneven; on #16 you hit off a mat. On #15, they're working on the tee box, so we were relegated to the reds. But, we played 18 holes in a little over 4 hours on a Tuesday afternoon at a GolfNow.com reduced rate in great weather. I'd say overall it was worth hitting some extra balls from my bag into the bush.

Played infamous Shorecliffs in a long time. It hasn't changed much and still maintains its quirky characterics. It's not as bad as some people label it though. The problem stems from its lack of good consistency throughout the course. For example, I noticed some good tee boxes versus some horrible tee boxes. Fairways also showed a large discrepancy in quality. Greens were quite nice for the most part, however. I developed some fondness for Shorecliffs, because it's easy to get on and relatively inexpensive for O.C. Took about 4 1/2 hours for a round.

This is a great old time course. No, it is not in the best of shape, but the playability of the course is almost unaffected. For the money, this course is the diamond in the rough. If you want a pretty course, go up to arroyo trabuco and pay out the nose to play a mediocre course. Shorecliffs will never change, I have been playing there for many years and the clubhouse still has the same paint job. One interesting note, maybe once or twice a year I play there and the greens are PERFECT.... I don't know why or how, but they could not be in any better shape

I LIKED PLAYING THE LAYOUT OF THE GOLF COURSE, BUT I WOULD NOT PAY THE AMOUNT THEY CHARGE ON WEEKEND $50, I WOULD ONLY WANT TO PAY ABOUT $20-$25 - I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTTTED ON THE CONDITION.
