I rarely play this course! It's been several years and I must confess that the general condition of the course is much improved. I an not a fan of this course, too many "funky" holes. But the staff was excellent, price is very good and pace of play was quick. A nice change of pace, but not on my regular rotation.

Played 10/23 had a noon tee time and got right out. Hit a bucket on the range to warmup. Very small and mats close together. The tee boxes were the worst I have ever seen. Can't remember one that was ... Continue »

Played 10/23 had a noon tee time and got right out. Hit a bucket on the range to warmup. Very small and mats close together. The tee boxes were the worst I have ever seen. Can't remember one that was level. Lots of divots and weeds. Some looked like the rough they where so long. Very tight layout. You really need to hit it stright or you will pay with high scores. The fairways were green and just ok. They also had a lot of weeds. The greens were the best part of the course. Good sahpe and rolled consistant but kind of slow. Never was a trap so can't comment on those.
With some work this could be good. Some really interesting holes.Paid $28 with Golfnow. Not sure I will be going back any time soon.

I love this course. I learnt how to golf on it and still remember the days when I struggled to break a 100 here four years ago ( shot a 76 today). And because this course is special to me, I keep coming back, despite the 5 hour round, despite the many hacks who don't belong on a difficult course like this one and take 15-17 strokes (not exaggerating) on several holes.

Upside - tough, challenging layout, great coastal weather, very good greens, very friendly and accomodating staff.

Downside - bad tee boxes, hard fairways in several places (the course isn't maintained very well) and too many duffers taking too long.

Played on 7/13 afternoon. Pace was very slow as there were lots of golfers enjoying the good deal in this course. Highlights are definitively the greens and sand traps. You need to keep the ball in play as it is very narrow and unforgiving. Service is absolutely great from golf shop to the marshall to the cafeteria and bar. Bring balls, you'll need them... ; )

Inexpensive course. Lots of specials.
Some fairways tight ... some wide. Lots of elevation changes.
Punishing rough on every hole. The call it 'The Ditch' for a reason.

Played on Easter Sunday with my wife. Great day. The best part of the course was the pace of play. From tee box to the green was rough to play. A lot of bare spots on the fairways, no sand in the traps. Greens rolled true, so it was fun once you got there. Do it again, yes.

The Good
1. Walked on as a twosome with no wait, did not get joined by anyone.
2. Got a free round because of the LA Golf Show, only had to pay $10 cart fee
3. Pace of play was 4.5 hours.
4. Staff was very friendly.

The Bad
1. The greens were a little long for my take.
2. Some kid asked us for our cart at the end of the round. very odd.

The Ugly
1. The tee boxes were sandy.
2. The course was extremely muddy. This course does not drain well.
3. Alot of bare spots in rough and fairway.
4. Hole on the back, par 5 16th, is completely messed up. They basically closed the hole and left us with 168 yards left. I warning at the pro-shop would have been nice. It doesnt look like that hole will be open anytime soon.

I wasnt worried about the course conditions so much cause I havent heard many good things, its a shame too cause with proper care this course could be very challenging and good.

This is a fun course. Pace of play, money for a round is very good. Only if the fairways where as nice as the greens, this would be a country club. Tee boxes are the worst I have play in OC. Will play... Continue »

Beware of this course if you are in a hurry. Because of the inexpensive price to play you get players of all abilities that makes the pace of play VERY VERY slow. Played this morning and walked off after taking more than three hours to play the front nine. It's a shame because it's a fun course that can really challenge your shotmaking abilities. The greens are exceptional, smooth and very fast with the only negative being they are very firm and will not hold a shot unless you drop it straight down. Fairways, rough and sandtraps are marginal at best.
