Had a 7:15 tee time out here this morning. Started about one tee time late, despite the starter telling players that they were running right on time. (The group in front of us was hitting their tee shots at 7:15.) I was paired with two other guys and we were behind another threesome who let us play through at the 11th tee. POP was great, around 3:40.

Course conditions are very mixed and seem to have deteriorated somewhat in the last 10 days. The good news is the greens are the best conditioned part of the course: medium-fast and smooth. They are pretty firm, although full shots hit well will usually stop quickly. Fairways and rough are like a roll of the dice – some parts are nice and fluffy and other spots are bare or dead, stringy grass. There seemed to be an abundance of divots in the fairways today; twice my tee shot ended up in one, one of which was not filled with sand. I wasn't in a bunker but they looked good. Tee boxes were a little shaggy but some of the lushest, greenest grass on the course. Worth playing via Forelinx but otherwise hard to recommend.

Played today at 9:50 using Forelinx. Got paired with another single, following a single who was behind a foursome. Total POP was 4:20 with occasional backups on a few par 3s.

Conditions are decent. Thankfully the greens are the best part of the course right now: smooth, medium to medium fast speed, and they hold good shots. Fairways are sprayed with a green tint, so from afar they look better than they actually play. They are dormant bermuda, thin in some spots and puffy in others. I preferred the puffy lies to the thin. Rough was dormant bermuda but not too penal. Tee boxes were good. Bunkers were okay; seemed to have decent sand on top, but not very deep.

Overall, worth playing with Forelinx but I wouldn't recommend anyone pay anything near rack rate.

Played the Blues (6276/70.9/128) as a single using Forelinx in 2H, 25M. CPO early in the round, the weather was around 40 when I started and in the 50's by the time I finished. Clear & breezy conditions. Most tees were fairly lush with over seeded rye, but several could use leveling. The par 3's had large amounts of divots, but most had already been properly maintained. The Bermuda fairways were sprayed green which provides contrast with the dormant rough but are below average overall. Definitely winter thin with okay coverage and some GUR spots. The Bermuda rough has Okay coverage for a dormant grass and weed mixture in the winter. The traps were nicely maintained with good sand. The greens are fairly smooth, putted medium fast & held approach shots well. Good to very good but not excellent like they were in the fall. Had a long conversation with the Greenskeeper Jim Federly. Good insights on the challenges this course and others face. Rich the starter is exceptional, got me out early and was sending updates on the GPS on which holes were CPO and when CPO was lifted. No beverage cart today. Nice clubhouse & restaurant/bar area, both the food and service are good. GPS on carts to the front, middle and back of the green only. I enjoy the difficulty factor of this course, tough but not overly tough. You have to keep it on the short stuff here. Recommended = Yes if you want to be challenged by quick/firm greens and many penalty areas.

Played the Blues (6276/70.9/128) using Forelinx as a single. After the rains over the weekend and the wind advisory today, almost had the course to myself. Only saw a couple of other singles during my round, so POP was not an issue. The weather was clear & WINDY in the 60's. This is NOT a great course to be playing with a wind advisory in effect! Most tees were fairly lush with over seeded rye, but several could use leveling. The par 3's had large amounts of divots, but most had already been filled. 6-8 weeks ago, I felt like the dormant Bermuda fairways were above average because they had a good cushion along with good coverage. However, that cushion is now gone. They are definitely winter thin with okay coverage and some GUR spots. I would now rate them below average. They were sprayed green which provides contrast with the dormant rough. The Bermuda rough is consistent for dormant grass with good coverage, tough to play longer clubs out of. The traps were very nicely maintained with good sand. I noticed the green side trap on #8 was thin, but the others I was in were good. Like the fairways, the greens are not as good as they were 6-8 weeks ago. Still good but not excellent like they were. Still fairly smooth, they putted medium fast & held approach shots well. The starter Rich is among the best of any course I have played, very personable/helpful. He sets the tome for excellent customer service from the starter when you drive up all the way to the attendants that clean you clubs after the round. No beverage cart today. Nice clubhouse & restaurant/bar area, both the food and service are good. GPS on carts to the front, middle and back of the green only. I like the layout, condition and difficulty of this course, all are a consistently above average. Recommended = Yes if you want to be challenged by quick/firm greens and many penalty areas. However, I could see high handicappers hating this course.

Played Tuesday morning. I had a pretty nice deal to play, but I feel BAD for anyone that pays over $50 to play this track. it is one of the worst conditioned courses I have played in the last year. Front 9 definitely in better shape than the back nine. Bunkers were hit or miss as far as nice sand. Greens were average, some bumpy routes to the holes here and there.

I do love the layout of the front nine on this course. The trees and their colors looked amazing this morning. It's hard to keep your shots near the cart path all day. If I had a pushcart I would of walked. This is true for any course that is cpo only and not a reflection on the course.
I'm not a huge fan of the back nine 17 and 18 are fun plus few others. The front 8 holes are hard to follow.

Service was great minus one greens keeper who bothered my awesome playing partner (who though over 20 yrs my elder and partially handicapped but beat me by 10+ strokes) for driving his cart on the grass. You just don't do that to people. Especially when you see the other cart observing the cpo rule it's just tacky.

Played the Blues (6276/70.9/128) using Forelinx. Matched up with Kerry, John & Mark for a fun round in 4H, 30M. The weather was partly cloudy and breezy in the 60's. Most tees were fairly lush, but several could use leveling. The par 3's had large amounts of unfixed divots. The dormant Bermuda fairways are winter thin but still have decent coverage. They are sprayed green and have a good pad underneath and are spongy. The grain often seems to run against you, which can catch you club on takeaway. The Bermuda rough was fairly consistent for dormant grass with good coverage, tough to play longer clubs out of. The traps were nicely maintained with good sand but several could use more sand. The greens were smooth, putted medium fast & held approach shots well. I putt well on these greens for whatever reason, I see the lines better than most greens and the speed is consistent from green to green. The beverage cart was out and came around multiple times. Nice clubhouse & restaurant/bar area, both the food and service are good. The starter was very helpful and the check-in was quick and efficient. GPS on carts to the front, middle and back of the green only. I like the layout, condition and difficulty of this course, all are a +. Recommended = Definitely IF you can get a deal, but I would not pay rack rate here.

Played the Blues (6276/70.9/128) using Forelinx. The weather was partly cloudy and breezy, started in the 40's, ended up around 60. The customer service was questionable with their handling of a frost delay. SF's policy is that if there is a frost delay, your tee time is canceled if scheduled during the delay period? They offered a bunch of affected groups two options: A) Go onto the waiting list and get worked in. With a full holiday tee sheet, that was ? even for a single, much less for those there with 3-4 players. B) 9 holes on the back 9 for a reduced rate. I had a prepaid, non cancelable tee time later that I would have missed if I went on the waiting list for any length of time, so option A was not viable for me. Considering my early round was already prepaid for 18, I did not consider option B equitable, but it was the best of poor options. It took some doing, but I managed to make Option B work out and get a full round in. Matched up John, Anthony & Sam for 9 holes in 2H, 40M after the frost delay. Very fun guys to play with. Had to come back and play 9 as a single right before dark in slightly more than an hour to finish my "round" in slightly less than 4H total. Most tees were fairly lush, but several could use leveling. The par 3's had large amounts of unfixed divots. The dormant Bermuda fairways are sprayed green. Winter thin but still have decent coverage. Good pad, fairly spongy, my irons often get caught on my takeaway. The Bermuda rough was good to hit out of unless the ball settled down. Fairly consistent for dormant grass with good coverage, tough to play longer clubs out of. The traps were nicely maintained with good sand. One trap I was in was nice, the other a little thin. The greens were very nice. Smooth, putted medium fast & held approach shots well. I didn't make a ton of putts but had an excellent lag putting day. I like these greens more with each round here. The layout, conditions and difficulty are all above average IMO, which is what I primarily look for in a course. Played early this morning, Dec, 30th. There was about an hour frost delay. Our group was first out at 7:30. This is only the second time I've played this course. The first time was about seven or eight years ago. I didn't know until today that I heard its run by the same company as Robinson Ranch, basically my home course. We finished in little over 3 1/2 hours. I really like this course. Very challenging but fair. I thought the course was in great shape considering what Southern California courses have gone through this year. The fairways were good with some bare ground under repair areas but other than that, the rough, bunkers and greens were really nice. The staff was awesome. We were down to short sleeves buy the back nine. If you can play for coupon rates, this is the best course I've played on my Holiday vacation.
