Played this afternoon. POP: SLOWWWW! 5 hours. Ouch! This is the first time I have experienced this at Talega. Normally 3.5-4 hours. I have a feeling its because every other course is under going maintenance and Talega isn't due until end of the month. So besides that, the course is in fair condition. They started punching tee boxes and fairways. Greens are in decent shape. Some of the sand traps are like concrete and others have fresh sand. My suggestion, stay off the beach :)

Nice course. Layout has some quirky holes like 15, where you tee off to a blind fairway over a wash area and trees. Rough was bad. However pace of play was worse. No Marshall. Starter sent out multiple groups of 2's in a row. Thank god we were smarter and teamed with the group ahead. The course though does need some work. It could be great.

I played last month for my free "Birthday" round. The staff was very courteous. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Its a somewhat challenging course and very enjoyable layout. The temperature and breeze in SC is a bonus when its been 85-90 degrees out lately. The downside, if you want to use the range...it's a good 5min drive and not convenient at all. So i would arrive at least an hour earlier to warm up or else there is no time.

Customer service is most important to me. Unfortunately, Talega needs lessons on how to make guests feel welcome. My golf group played there very recently, and unbeknownst to us, they were setting up for a wedding with 200 guests. This course cannot handle tournaments and weddings at the same time. They are just not set up to host weddings. Since weddings bring in more revenue, we golfers were ignored. The clubhouse, bar, snack bar, and all the restrooms were off limits to us golfers. After golf, some of my golfers had to go to the shopping center nearby to use the restroom. We do our own scoring, usually in the clubhouse lounge where everyone can sit, have a drink, and mingle while our scorekeeper goes to work. No place to do it, so they set up two tables and three chairs in the cart staging area where the clubs were cleaned and carts passing through to the parking lot. Most of the players left since they did not want to stand for an hour waiting for the last group to complete their round. Staff members in the staging area were rude. All in all, a very bad experience as most of the players had never played there before and were so looking forward to this prestigious golf course. Very disappointing for a high-priced course, not worth $100. We will never play there again.

Played on 7-1-12. First time I played here in many years and was a little disappointed. The course was in okay shape. I use to play here a lot years ago because things were always in great shape. I hate to say it but it looks like the owner has cut the budget back a little. The Golf Shop was bare which is not a first impression. Apart from that the golf course will test anyone who tees it up. But dont expect the best customer service or conditions. I hope to see the course and its team return to the level they were at a few years ago. Good Luck.

Played here for the first time with a late Saturday start. The course is definitely one of the better ones in OC, and an excellent value with a discounted tee time from the web. The fairways are in great shape, soft underfoot with few bad areas. The rough is also well done, though it gets spottier areas. There were more ball marks on the greens than I would have expected on a course like this though.

Our only real issue was that a wedding was on the 9th hole, so we need to skip 8 and 9 and pick them up at the end of the round. It only added a little time, but it was a bit annoying. I guess the course needs to supplement the golf income somehow.

It is fairly far south, so unless you are living in South County, it may not be much less of a drive than some of the good courses in the IE, but it is definitely a well maintained and fun course.

Played a morning round on June 28TH. Went to driving range to warm up. The driving range is not well maintained, disappointing. This was my first round at this course. I found the holes to be challenging, but mostly fair. I did expect the greens to be a little quicker than they are, but they were not in bad shape. Since this course is so well bunkered, I would expect them to maintain their bunkers well. About 75 percent of the bunkers were soaked and the sand was compacted. They were not raked or fluffed. They could do a much better job for the green fees they are charging.

Played today for the third time in about a month. The course is in pretty good condition now. We got a good deal on GolfNow, but if we had to play full price we would have been disappointed. We played at twilight, and there was no starter, no marshal, and no beverage cart. Two weeks ago when we played it got pretty slow, and there was no marshal to send out to speed things up. This time we saw a fivesome waiting to tee off ahead of us (a couple of them playing in sandals, and the alcohol started before they teed off) and we asked in the clubhouse to go ahead of them. Glad we did. We were following a foursome, and on the back nine we were 4 or 5 holes ahead. I'd be steamed if I had to follow a slow fivesome, and there was no marshal to keep things moving. Unforgivable.
