Played 02/12/2014. It's not what I remember it being. It's been about 8 months since I last played Talega. Course is cureently looking better than it is playing. What do I mean, well from a distance the course is looking nice and lush, playing it is another story. Greens are bumpy are slower than I remember. They need to be mowed and rolled. Fairways have little patches of grass growing in the middle of the fairways. It may have been towards the end of their mowing cycle but it's frustrating to hit the faiway but have a clump of growth behind your ball. Bunkers I was in had pleanty of sand. Staff was great just wished they would mow the greens and fairways.

Played today @ 11:52. The course is in good condition except for the bunkers. The greens are a little slower than what I remember them to be. Also bumpy & few had bare spots on them. Afternoon round I expect greens to be a little bumpy. They were fairly receptive. Fairways were thin to lush, not very good looking but very playable. With last night rain softening them, not getting much roll on tee shots. Tee boxes were getting a little shaggy and need to be addressed. The rough was consistent and not too penal. Most of the bunkers were abysmal; hard packed dirt. They had very little to no sand in them. But was in only one today so really didn't affect me. Overall nice course just need to cut and roll greens to smooth them out. Also trim the Tee boxes to level them out.

Cons- The fairways look terrible. Plan and simple. They roll great and are firm and are average to play out of... but generally they look bad.
Overall, like this place for 3 times a year golf.

played here a weekday afternoon, hadn't been here in a year or two. course was in okay condition, but nothing really great to speak of. tee boxes were fine, but a bit shaggy. fairways were spotty. mostly green, but there were wet and muddy spots, bare spots, and brown spots making the lies inconsistent. rough was a bit patchy in places. greens were also very inconsistent, some were perfect and smooth, and some, like #9, seemed to be hard as concrete and dying. pace of play was awful. took 5 hours to get around on a wednesday. sheesh. no marshalls in sight. cart girl was around 3 or 4 times which was nice. layout in general is alright with a good mix of holes, probably the only one i don't like is the par 5 on the back with the completely blind tee shot you aim at a pole sticking out of the trees. otherwise the course is a fair challenge for the most part. still. speed it up.

Great conditions for our South Region Group 2 Match Play 3-way (David, Jon, and Shaun, accompanied by GKer Mark) on Sunday morning 7/7/13, sunny and warm with only light breezes. Overall course conditions were very good and the course looked great. Greens were receptive and running medium-slow - they need to dry out and be cut. We found many tees to be soft and needing cutting as well. Otherwise great, and great company and a good time. Surprisingly empty given good conditions and weather - where are all the players in south OC? It was the last day of a long holiday weekend, but still ..... Recommended.

Played Talega this morning. Course is coming back in shape. Fairways a little thin in spots but greens in very good shape. Ball rolled pretty true. Sand traps are terrible and there are a lot of them. I wish courses with a lot of traps would do their best to make them playable. These were rock hard and like hitting out of clay. This is a beautiful course but really overpriced unless you get a deal or a senior rate (like me). Best to play early when its cool and not windy because there are some tough tee shots if you have to hit into the wind.

The golf course is in wonderful condition throughout. The tees and fairways are very lush and provide a great playing surface. The greens were excellent. (I had no cut greens on the back so they were very slow, but I had about 7 cut greens on the front and they were just fine.

Being fast off, pace of play was not a problem. Staff was great. Other than the price being a bit high and not being a course condusive to walking, this is a terrific track

Played today, May 23. This course is in excellent condition except for the bunkers. The greens had been verticut but should be perfect by Saturday, if not tomorrow. They were not lightening fast but were smooth and fairly receptive. Be aware of where the ocean is, it has influence on the break. Tee boxes were level and in fine condition including the par 3's. The fairways were excellent with plenty of roll. The rough was consistent and not too penal. Most of the bunkers were abysmal; hard packed dirt. The bunkers on 18 were OK. The condition of the course was somewhat surprising. The management of this course was hit with a big maintenance headache by the County Fire Authority. The CFA is making them remove all the vegetation on the slopes by the houses that surround the course. I've heard rumors of a cost of close to a million dollars. The work is now going on. It is too bad as the slopes that have been done are bare and the look of the course is suffering. It is nice that the management has not cut back in other areas in order to save money for this project. This is fun golf course. The only questionable hole is number 15. This is a par 5 with a completely blind tee shot. There is a guide pole, but there is also plenty of trouble to the right and left. Also having 3 par 3's, two of which are in a row, 7 and 8, on the front 9 is a little odd. But it is a fine course, with the expected elevation changes and some great views
