Normally I do not do reviews; however, saw some recent reviews and thought I should share my experience. I played Talega on 6/18/09 and it was in good-great shape. The par 3's on the front from the tips are awesome (all carry over water- 1 (at) more than 230 yards & the other (at) more than 180 yards, into the wind!). Bunkers were good, greens rolled med. speed (9.0-9.5?), two beverage carts were on duty (on a Thursday afternoon!), Pro-shop and staff are great and we played in 4 hours and 10 minuets, pretty good considering when we pulled in we couldn't find a parking spot. What more can you ask for?.....maybe more ice in the coolers? Continue what your doing Talega, we will be back.

Played here today. What a disappointment. Used to be pristine with lush green fairways, pearl white bunkers, and fast true greens. Now it is a dump. Not even worth the 55 bucks I paid. Greens were slower than vijay singhs pace of play. Fairways were average. SOme back tee boxes were in disrepair. Bunkers were brown thin and ugly. Carts have barely any ice in coolers and no waters. What kind of product are they marketing here? Obviously its not working. Much better options out there for less like redhawk, skylinks, el dorado, eagle glen. Sorry talega you need to work on your course conditioning first and foremost.

This was the first time I played Talega in a very longtime and I have to say that I was somewhat disappointed. When the course first opened, the conditions were immaculate and lush in all areas; the greens rolled true and were extremely, extremely slick. I played today and the greens were painfully slow and many putts did not roll true. The fairways were decent though and the tee boxes were good. I paid 40 bucks and for that price, it was an absolute steal. I've always enjoyed the layout.

To give these greens a 6 after they have been punched is a testament to the excellent maintenance practices at this facility. The ball rolled true with only minor hops and slides. The sand quality is very good in the bunkers. The fairways are a bit thin due to cart traffic. This course is very pleasing to the eye. Well bunkered fairways and greens gives the course good definition for visualization of the type of shot that needs to be hit. Is it the best layout in Orange County?? certainly in the top 3!

Got out at 7:45am this Sunday - 4/5/09. Course is in excellent condition, fairways great, greens only a few ball marks, bunkers a little firm for my tastes.
Best part is a new GPS that gives you a map of the hole which includes where other carts are located (important from the tee on 15 - Blind tee shot to the fairway). Their old system was very weak so it's an upgrade.
Got around in 4 hrs with the Santa Ana winds blowing which changed everything on how this course usually plays.

2nd off on Sunday morning. Cloudy and cool but no rain. Course was in very good shape. Except the bunkers had a lot of water in them. Staning pond in front of #11 they were pumping out. Played in 3 hours. Customer service was excellent as always. Greens rolled very well. I'll be back next month.

Played 1-25-09 at 730 on a Sunday morning. Men's club (I think) in front of us. Never saw them. They played fast. Our 2 twosomes played in exactly 4 hours. Greens rolled very well. Were slower than I expected. Probably due to recent rains. Fairways were good and rough was up in spots especially around the greens. Traps had plenty of sand in them. White and fluffy. Players need to remember to knock the sand off of their shoes here as it tracks onto the greens. Staff met me at my car and cleaned my clubs afterwards. Tim in the shop and Starter Joe were pleasant and professional. Pulled pork sandwich in the Grille afterwards was excellent. Great day can't wait to get back there.

Played on Dec 30 and even with the crowds of that holiday week, it was a great round with no delays. This is an excellent course! Yes, a bit pricy, but for the area and the upscale courses, it's a bargain for what you get and how you are treated! All was in excellent shape, service was excellent, no waiting on any hole and I highly reccommend it.
