Played today around 11:30, 5 hour round. Please refer to my prior review, it's two weeks later and not much has changed. About the only differences were that the sand in the bunkers was quite a bit softer (good), and much more of the course is now hard pan (bad). I will be giving the 'Wick some time to grow out before returning.

Played 2/10, $30 special w/cart, hot dog & drink. Good deal, bad conditions. Tee boxes were inconsistent, some ok, some bare. Fairways were patchy grass, weeds and dirt. Rough was ok, can't complain there, not too long and not penal. Better lies in the rough than in the fairway. Bunkers were pretty hard packed. Greens were bumpy and slow. 5 hour+ round. This is pretty much the dead of winter condition, hopefully the only way to go is up. On the plus side, customer service was great.

If you walk this course then, the green fee is worth it, if you like to ride then there are a number of other local courses that would give you a much better value and experience for the cart and gree... Continue »

If you walk this course then, the green fee is worth it, if you like to ride then there are a number of other local courses that would give you a much better value and experience for the cart and green fees. Fairways were definitely in winter mode with a lot of dormant grass, and a number of bare spots,, bunkers were a little thin, but were decent with a few pebbles here and there, tee boxes were hit and miss, some level, others were pretty uneven. The greens were probably my biggest complaint, very bumpy. This course is easy to walk and not too long, hopefully in the spring everything will come back to life

Generally in good shape perhaps because cold weather lately has kept traffic down. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens OK with some bare spots at end of paved cart paths. Wide open fairways, most with trees on either side, and OB generally not a problem. No water and a few avoidable bunkers.

Played yesterday (Sunday) at 930. First - customer service was outstanding. Without going into details there was a major screw up with the booking and the guy helped us out in a HUGE way. Major props.

Greens were better than expected - slow but smooth. Muni style fairways and didn't see too many brown spots. I was in only 1 bunker and seemed to be ok for sand.

Even though they allow fivesomes pace of play was ok. 4.5 hours.

Range seems to have dead balls. My friends and I all seemed to be hitting balls about 15 yards less than normal on range. Could be we are just getting older :-)

One final note - many reviews referred to this course as a "confidence builder" This phrase became the joke of the day because you still have to hit a lot of good shots to shoot low. That being said, it's almost impossible to lose a ball on this course.

Played Wednesday Nov. 21. The course is in fair to good condition. The fairways and bunkers are in good condition. The rough is good with some patchy areas. The greens were slow and bumpy. Soft greens and afternoon golf yields lots of footprints. The tee boxes are not the most level but are playable. The last time I played here in May the conditions were better but the low green fees make Willowick worth playing.

It has been over three years since I last played here. I called to confirm that they had not just punched greens, etc and was told the course was in great shape. Well. it was true that they had not punched the greens, but the course was far from being in great shape. It was "playable" but certainly not in great shape. I could say that for $26 it was about what one would expect, but when you consider that seniors can play Dos Lagos for $29, Empire Lakes for $35, Eagle Glen for $39, etc, etc, and those fees include a cart, this course does not warrant that much $$

It will be several more years before I venture back. I don't hate it, there are just better courses and better values out there!

Played at 11:15 on 6/30/12, $51 rack rate. Normally I would not play this place for full price, but some old friends called me to join last minute so I guess the company made the round worth the price. The layout here is typical of most muni helmet golf courses, with all the holes running alongside one another. No water hazards, forced carries, or anything else that gives a course character. It is a very good place to go low and build confidence, as mentioned in previous reviews.
Conditions on this day were a mixed bag; tee boxes were above average, fairways were ok to good, rough was anywhere from dirt to very lush, bunkers were very solid and a bit rocky, and the greens were inconsistent all around. Some bumpy, some smooth; some slow, some fast. Some held shots well; some didn't.
Customer service was excellent all around, which is always a good thing. However, there was no marshal or beverage cart out on the course, and they allow 5-somes and sometimes even 6-somes out there, so be prepared for a long day.

Played early morning on 5/26/12. Pace was surprisingly faster than usual. Holiday weekend. They did however finally by new carts with GPS. Very nice. There is some work being done to the course which is nice to see. The greens were really soft and had several divots that were not repaired from previous players. The staff is very friendly.
