I have noticed a number of previous reviews of Terra Lago were not too flattering. The South course recently reopened for the fall and is in very good shape. The greens were very smooth and running at a good speed. The fairways were in places thin where they have had issues with mud in the fairways otherwise they were well groomed and in great shape for winter play. Worth your time to go out and enjoy desert golf.

Where to begin. Tees on the par 3 holes were awful. You were lucky to find a patch of grass to place your ball and they were uneven. Fairways were thin. I could see dirt through the grass. The rough was barely rough. The greens were the biggest disappointment. Now I know what sever ball mark damage is. You would have to see it to believe it (save your money and take my word for it).

I could go on and on about the poor conditions of the fairways...brief characterizations that come to mind are mud bog , patch quilt and bomb crater (little extreme but, there were about 10 6"-8" deep holes about 2 foot square littering one of the fairways). It was ridiculous.

Played here Saturday, 10/29 with fellow GKer sixpez. 12:12 tee time with the Red Dot 2-for-1 deal made it only $42.50 ea., which is a great deal. The course had re-opened from overseeding just two days earlier and is in excellent condition. The greens are very receptive and very smooth, but running a little slow. I heard a guy on the range say it'd be about a month before they're able to really scalp them and get them fast again, but no complaints here. One fairway of a par 5 (I think it was #8) had some damage with a bunch of muddy, bare spots, but otherwise the course was in outstanding shape.

Design-wise, it's nice to play a desert course that isn't lined with houses. There are no houses bordering the South course. The pro shop guys said a few holes on the North course are bordered by a timeshare development adjacent to the course.

Service-wise, one par 3 that got backed up had a marshal seemingly stationed on the tee. He made everyone play from the white tees to get things going again. I like the commitment to keeping play moving at a good pace, but if I had been playing better and seriously invested in my score, that might've gotten under my skin a bit. The food & beverage cart seemed to come by every 3 holes or so.

All in all, an amazing experience at $42.50 and highly recommended if you can afford the normal $85 fee.

This course would be in great condition if the grass was all green. Too many brown patches scattered across the fairways. Tee boxes and greens are in nice condition. They need to do something about the rabbit infestation they have. Every hole there left and right, a few are good but when there dashing in front of your cart every hole and you have to slam on the brakes is not very fun. Otherwise, I had a very quick 2 hour round as I was playing as a single. Staff is friendly with the exception of the starter. I may be back if they fix the grass color problem.

After I signed up to play a tournament at this course, I read the latest reviews. I wish I would have read them before I signed up.

After I signed up to play a tournament at this course, I read the latest reviews. I wish I would have read them before I signed up.

Tee boxes were not level, fairways had a bunch of bare spots and greens were marked up.

However, I still had a great time. Not because of the golf course by any means but, because of the guys I played with. I could have been playing 18 holes off the Walmart parking lot with these guys and still enjoy myself.

I have played the South course 3 times over the last month since it reopened after overseeding. Yesterday, 12/7/10, it was in not very good shape. The first round I played after reopening it was not too bad. There were some bare spots, but overall, okay, and the greens were rolling well. The second time the fairways were showing some real wear as if they allowed driving on them too soon following reopening. The greens in the second of the three rounds were pretty good---rolling fast and smooth. Yesterday however, it was just bad. The greens had a ton of sand all over them, making putting aggravating. The fairways were just plain mud in many spots. It didn't help that they had watered the fairways so much they were soggy, and then they were allowing players to drive anywhere, just creating ruts in the ground and a big muddy mess in many spots. The other spots where there was grass your lie was so thin it made it tough to play any variety of shots.

It was very disappointing to say the least. If there is a saving grace, the North is open now and if they take care of it properly, maybe they could close the South for a couple weeks to get it back into playing shape, otherwise I worry they will lose it for the entire winter season.

Played May 16 early morning. Really wanted the North course but they had a tournament going. Played here just about 6 weeks ago and am sad to say that whatever was wrong with the fairways then is even more wrong now. They must have a virus or gopher problem as there are many many bare patches. First time in the 3 years I've been playing here that its been like this. The greens also look like they've got a virus or something. Its a shame because this is a nice course, challenging but fair. You HAVE to find the fairway or plan on losing a lot of balls!

Also ran into THE RUDEST marshall ever! Yelled at us for being behind pace- and he was totally wrong. We were 15 minutes ahead of pace. Picked it up and then ended up having to wait on several tees. Hopefully he will not be reemployed next year!

I won't play here again unless I am assured the fairway issues have been fixed.

Played this course last last Sunday and the greens are in horrible shape. Some fairways are flooded and muddy in spots after re-seeding. Not worth the greensfees.
