Played early morning on Friday, May 23rd with an online deal for 23 bucks including cart. It was well worth the rate. Played in 4 hours. The fairways and tee boxes were lush. There is no rough out here but you can easily lose a ball if you spray it in the surrounding desert plants. Greens were in great shape, playing firm and fast. Some of the bunkers are being fixed with new white sand but the older sand filled bunkers were still good. The toughest part of the course was the grass surrounding the greens. There were a lot of tight lies throughout the day. The owners are doing their part to keep the course looking good, even in the summer. It's definitely worth going out here to play and there are plenty of good online deals you can find.

Played on 4/28, Monday morning around 7:00 a.m. Great service - friendly and professional. The course is good shape, on the verge of being in great shape. A few of the fairways have some spots that are still work in progress, but they are definitely an improvement over a couple of years ago, which is when I last played. The greens are in great shape right now; rolling fast and true. A great bargain if you are staying at the adjacent Worldmark resort. Definitely worth checking out.

I played a twighlight round on 03/31 and the previous review is pretty spot on, I'll just throw in a couple additions. The greens were recently sanded so the greens played a little slower. And the staff informed me the courses have been getting a lot of play, which is good, except people must be having a tough time taking that divot/ball mark repair tool out of their pockets because the greens were littered with ball marks. Wind kicked up pretty good on us this afternoon, but overall, this is the best condition I've seen this course in the last couple of years.

Date: Friday 3/28/14 TIME: 1:15pm Course: SOUTH 4-ball & (Two ride along's) Psssssst! Play this course NOW as well as the NORTH layout! EXCELLENT conditions tee to green, the only knock in the rating would be the actual sand bunkers (Not to be confused with the WASTE areas) which had sizable stones & pebbles. Invest in a "rock-wedge". I would like to thank the golf course management for allowing my wife & I as RIDE-A-LONGS since I was providing Dcoachl (Scott & Pam) local knowledge to help prepare his HS golf team for an upcoming tourney. Greens: Potato chip style with hidden undulations,some areas of the green have as much as a 9* slope but the average locations were showing a 2*-6* slope using the (Breakmaster green reading tool) As a general rule, most putts break towards the Salton Sea http://saltonsea.ca.gov/geography.html On this day, putting seemed to be a challenge. Layout: I find this layout little more forgiving than the NORTH course. It has several TRAIN BOX CARS that are used as bridges from one tee to the next, intriguing to the first time players of the layout. Bag Drop: Excellent outside staff to provide you with assistance. Restaurant: Overlooks the SOUTH Layout. We had an early lunch, the food was excellent & a great value. Plus Breakfast service ended @10:30 and lunch service began 1030am which made it all seamless & a no brainer! Range: Large putting green surface, available chipping green and all grass range, no mats on this day. I recently found out there is a new owner, property was purchased for $7 million and steps are being taken to keep BOTH layouts in excellent conditions. I noticed it has been several months for a review & decided to post my OBSERVATION of the SOUTH layout even though I was providing local knowledge to Dcoachl in preparation for the 27 hole HS event.

Played this morning on an internet deal for $32. The first time I have ever been glad not to have checked Greenskeeper before booking a tee time. Reviews are pretty poor for the South course but we found it to be in impeccably good condition. Fairway, rough, traps and tee boxes were all in good to great shape, but the greens were in absolutely mint condition. Smooth, FAST, and rolling true. Super steal at the price we paid.

Also, I've played the North many times and this was my first time on the South and I actually preferred the layout. Great desert scenery and lots of challenging tight fairways. Fun day.

I hate to be so critical, but my this place has gone down hill. Last played here 7 years ago and remembered this as a challenging, well conditioned golf course with great service. Not anymore. From the moment you come into the clubhouse you can tell something is amiss here, everything just seems faded and ill maintained like nobody cares. Tee boxes and fairways are ok. Greens are terrible. Lots of bumps, bare spots and discoloration. Played 2 weeks before at a recently aerated course nearby and enjoyed putting on those more. Worse part was the bunkers. I can understand that cost cutting results in dirt rather than sand but the puddles of water on a triple digit hot day and numerous rocks are unacceptable. Put a nice gouge in my new 56 degree getting out of one. Nice. No cart service and the dilapidated snack trailer was closed. Got real thirsty on the back nine when our water ran out. Lots of better options in the neighborhood.

Overall good conditions throughout. Greens are dry and mostly crusty, but strangely enough held most shots with their moisture. Rolling smooth, and fairly fast as well.
Fairways are fast and firm, sand good greenside, more like waste areas along the fairways. Tees good, rough lush and sensible length. Very attractive manicuring around the greens complexes. Loved the layout and solid challenge with good customer service. BYO water, and stop in at the grill after.

An unexpected surprise. Tremendous (could be treacherous) layout set back in what could be a gravel pit in Indio. Some very clever hole designs and all greens complexes are appealing. Check in was fine, all staff friendly and helpful. Nice clubhouse and bar. Good large prac-fac, a bit remote, but balls included. First time here so shooting blind; ouch. (could have a yardage book-no gps) Tees are a little tired but fine, fairways are good overall, fast, with bare patches in enough places to make it obvious, rough is good and lush, of sufficient length to hit from and promote speed of play. Bunker sand was a mixed bag. Green side sand ok, other areas had rocks (not pebbles). Greens areas were good to great with lush manicured approaches/collars, and surfaces that were mid paced but quite a few ball marks left without repair, making greens a little bumpy; but I loved the contouring designs. BYO water recommended, as few drinks stations are on the South - lots of drinks cart passes today. No marshaler was seen during our brisk 4 ball, 4 hour round on Friday March 1 afternoon tee time. Really worth a look with a deal. Very good course website with hole views and diagrams. Will come back for the North too. Played on 01/19 as part of a 36 hole day after the North course. The North course is in better condition overall, but the South course is still very enjoyable. Tee boxes are in good shape, and about half the fairways are in good/great shape. Unfortunately, about a third of them have some really bare and even muddy spots that really scar the course. A fairway or two is the same way on the North course, just not as many. I'm not sure what the issue is, but the same elevated fairways seem to be muddy year round, even in 100+ degree weather. But I digress... The rough is short and very playable. The sand is good and the greens are in great shape, fast, true and deceptive.
