played 5-31 with an early tee time. Not crowded at all. Greens and tees are in great shape. Unfortunately the traps leave a lot to be desired. Little to no sand and unmaintained. There is still a lot of stagnate water in their ponds that is smelly and seams to be attracting a lot of bugs. its a shame because this is a great course to play, generally a lot of fun

The Course was in good shape generally, however, the greens could have been smoother and faster. Yes, it was lush and green but with the lushness and good health of the grass, I think it could be much better. Nevertheless, the course played very good and looked very good. The bunkers were good with sands, and the fairways were completely in great shape for play.

Played this course on January 2, 2014. Late morning tee time. My buddy and I were paired up with two other players.

When I arrived, I went and checked in at the pro shop. Staff was quite friendly. Pro shop was busy. My buddy and I were directed out to the starter, who paired us with another twosome. Starter was very pleasant (in the past, I have had grumpy starters at Tahquitz).

Course itself was nice and lush, with everything green. Fairways, teeboxes and rough were all very good.

Greens were slightly patchy and were bumpy in some areas.

Sand was generally good, though there were some small rocks in some of the sandtraps.

Staff was very pleasant (marshal, pro-shop, starter, and drink cart person).

All in all, it was worth the $59.00 golfnow rate that I got (considering that all other PS courses were $100.00 + for the holiday weekend). With that said, I cannot justify spending much more than the $59.00 rate, when there are many other great courses in PS and the Coachella Valley as a whole.

Played early 12/27/14 morning. First time playing here and had fun here. I read some of the reviews and decided on this course because it didn't run through many houses. By the time we teed off at the Resort course, I saw about 2 groups tee off at Legends. The starter was really nice and courteous. Booked through Golfnow for a good price but didn't realize that it didn't include the breakfast and 2 drinks special. It wasn't a big deal and I should've realized that, but I didn't know that going in that morning. It was nice though because the cart girl came by a few times through the round. It was pretty cold (apparently it was cold all over So. Cal) and it made things a little uncomfortable to start the round. I heard from the Pro Shop that there was a frost delay the day before but I didn't really ask. I think it was around 40 degrees in the morning and we were able to start on time. The course was in pretty good condition. The tee boxes were pretty good. I noticed some that were a little uneven, but not horribly bad. Fairways were in good condition. I don't know if it was my swing (whenever there is doubt, it usually is) but I wasn't getting much roll out on my drives. The rough wasn't very punishing. I hate when you end up a few inches/ft. into the rough and end up losing your ball. There were some holes with some mounds which added to the difficulty. There were also some elevated and multi tiered greens. The layout had a good mix of straight and dogleg holes that made it challenging at times. Not too many forced carries but there were some water holes that could make it tough for some. There was a longer par 3 that had forced carry over a lot of water on the right side. Otherwise, it wasn't too punishing for hackers or short hitters. There were some trees and paths along the side for the community to walk/run/bike along the course. It wasn't much of an issue but you will see some people moving around at times. Off to the side of the paths could get a little rocky mixed in with dirt. Greens were a little bumpy at times. Some holes were worse than others. People needed a lesson to fix their marks here. Compared to other courses in the area, it was lacking in this area. The speed was around medium on most holes. Some rolled a little faster and some were slower. We did go out early and it wasn't very warm even when the sun came out. Had some tricky breaks on some holes which made it a challenge. Luckily I didn't end up in the sand that day, so I couldn't comment on it. I didn't notice rocks/pebbles but again I wasn't actually in the bunker to notice closely. The clubhouse was nice and the staff were nice. The carts could use some GPS. I had my watch on me but my partners in the other cart had to rely on me to pull up next to them constantly to give them readings since they didn't see many markers out there. This caused us to play a little slower. It wasn't a big problem since the group behind us was pretty far behind, but I could see how it could slow some people down if they don't have a GPS or Rangefinder on them. The views were nice and the course was overall pretty good. I'm sure there are more beautiful courses in the area, but I think it was worth the money. I would probably try out other courses next time I'm in the area but I would definitely recommend it to people who are looking for a fun course that's not a dump and not looking to spend too much money. I might have enjoyed it more if it was a little warmer, but that wasn't the fault of the course. I'm not sure how the pace of play was for a later start but we finished in around 3 hours. By the time we hit hole 17/18 we didn't see much of a back up on the holes but it looked to be pretty packed.

Played the Green tees (6705/71.8/125) in 4.5 hours on a prepaid GolfNow deal for $32 w cart. I have played both Tahquitz courses multiple times over the years and definitely prefer the Resort course to the Legends course overall. Both are older, traditional tracks without many upgrades. However, the Resort course does not meander through homes on both sides like the Legends course does on many holes. The greens were firm and rolled well, medium speed. The fairways are mostly generous in width and in good condition overall. The course played long because you did not get much roll on the fairways, they are thick from the recent overseeding. The rough while not overly tall is also thick and can be punitive in spite of the length. Many times the ball really sat down in the rough. The tees were very lush, almost too furry but still very playable. The traps were the worst part of the course, decently maintained with mostly fluffy sand but there were tons of rocks mixed in. The drink cart came around 3-4 times plus they have a nice grill onsite. They have also upgraded the clubhouse in the past couple of years. The customer service was excellent. No GPS on the carts, which is a challenge because they could definitely use more distance markers. All they have are rocks on either side of the fairway @ 150 and lines on some cartpaths @ 100 & 200. Decent middle of the road Palm Springs area alternative $$ wise that is in good condition.

We also played here 10/26/14, in a 7:30am shotgun. $49 include a round of golf, skins game, range balls, cart, 2 drinks, breakfast, and lunch. Great deal.

The course is still healing from recent maitenance. But the fairways are healthy with baby new grass. The greens are a bit slow, but easy to see it won't stay slow for long.

The bunkers looked okay and I really can't add anymore good things on this re view except I'm sure it won't be cart paths only in another week or so. The course looks great and it will only be better as the season deepens.

Services are good: cart beverage, pro shop, and marshalls, they're so helpful.

Played Sunday 10/26. With nearly all desert courses in maintenance mode, this is one of the few 18 holes open. It just re-opened last week so it was Cart Path Only (CPO) for the entire course. The Legends course was closed.
When we checked in, we discovered that EVERY Sunday there is a tournament & skins game on the Resort course. Apparently this is very popular with a shot gun start at 7:00 am. Be aware of this when making reservations.
Because the course was CPO, the POP was horrible. Our 9:50 am tee time was pushed back 30 minutes. We waited on every shot. It took 15 - 20 minutes to play each hole. We walked off the 14th after 4 1/2 hours.
About the course: The Resort course is more interesting & challenging than the older Legends 18. After the recent maintenance, the fairways & rough were lush. The fairways were very playable and the rough was penal enough to scare you away. Some bunkers had good, soft sand, while other were more compacted. So they were inconsistent. The tee boxes were a bit bumpy and uneven. The greens were a disappointment because they were unusually slow even though they were smooth & firm. While they rolled true, everyone was having trouble getting the ball to the hole.
The course has fantastic deals for locals. I received a $16 discount because I played with a local, but still payed $69. Greens fees include either breakfast or lunch and 2 drinks (includes beer!). The staff was pleasant & the beverage cart came around several times.
I'd like to try this course again when it's not so crowded.

Older track with some great Mtn views. The recent heavy rains and flash flooding really brought some water and mud down the gullies but it was still in good shape. As a previous review offered....a very shaggy course. Surely this is to try to keep it alive in the heat. The greens were bad in my opinion. If you want to see some well kept summer Bermuda.....go elsewhere. Desert Dunes perhaps? There were super slow....maybe an 8 on the stimp? Some interesting holes for sure, some nice mounding with both right to left holes and vice versa. It has a couple really nice looking par 3's. I wasn't impressed with the greens and for that reason I will not be returning unless its during the winter months. I played on a late day $10 deal which I used a golfnow voucher for ...so I didn't pay anything for the round. If you're looking for a very inexpensive round....head out and check it out. If you want to spend $15-20 more you can get a course that's 2 or 3 times better or more.

I have played both Tahquitz courses multiple times over the years and definitely prefer the Resort course overall to the Legends course. Both are older tracks without alot of bells and whistles. It was nice playing on a course where I could actually blast out of a trap that wasn't packed dirt like most of the courses traps are in the desert this time of year.
