I was treated to around at Mission Hills Arnold Palmer course yesterday, and played in the mid day heat 105°. Check in was easy (masks required in the clubhouse) and we had single rider carts. Played as a twosome and had the course to ourselves.

The course was in consistently good shape overall, plenty of mature trees to provide shade when you needed it. The fairways had some thin spots but we’re mostly lush. The roof was well groomed and lush.Bunkers were well-maintained and the greens rolled fairly smooth even though they looked as if they would be very bumpy.

The course has a fun layout.There’s just enough water to make things tough in a couples. The par three 17 is a little ridiculous from the blues at 190+ carry to the green, No bail out area other than a bunker to the right. Almost made me want to lay up 100 yards out. After two in the water, I guess my first instinct was right.

It was a long drive to and from the desert but it was worth it!

Rode the Blues (6499/71.2/127) in 3H mid day playing as a single. Slightly over 100 and clear with little breeze. COVID-19 measures in place. Mask was required at all times around people. One to a cart. Plastic insert in the cups but the ball would go in. No rakes or water stations open. Snack shop available for take out only. Pro shop open, and they had divot mix on the carts. The course is firm and very playable, but quite different than the lushness I experienced six weeks ago. I like the fun layout that has a decent amount of water, sand and tall trees. Many holes I can grab driver and have a go at it, but there are also a few par 4's that are strategic, position holes. Tees okay coverage and divots repaired. But areas are worn down and thin after all the over seed has burned off. Fairways mostly lush and still nice to play from. Rough more hit and miss, but still decent. Mowed down to about 2", good POP rough. Sand traps had thick fine quality sand were still good to play from despite not having rakes and plenty of footprints. Bermuda greens were in mid summer form. Somewhat bumpy, firm and rolling medium speed. Customer Service always exceptional here. Quick efficient check-in. Excellent all grass driving range that is closed for maintenance from 10A - 1P daily. No GPS on the basic carts. Recommended.

COVID-19 measures in place, except this was the first time I was told it was okay to NOT wear a mask on the course since I was playing alone. However, it was made clear that a mask was required at all times around people. Raised cups to ground level, no divot mix, rakes or water stations open. Snack shop available for take out only, pro shop and clubhouse closed to the public.

Tees lush and immaculate with few divots unrepaired.

Fairways lush and nice to play from.

Rough lush and mowed down to about 2", very good POP rough.

Sand traps had thick fine quality sand were still good to play from despite not having rakes and plenty of footprints.

Bermuda greens fully healed and rolling smooth @ medium speed. Firm, so expect rollout.

Cutomer Service always exceptional here. Quick efficient check-in Excellent all grass driving range was closed for maintence. Fun and playable layout with a decent amount of water, sand and tall trees. Alot of holes I can grab driver and have a go at it, but there are also a few par 4's that are layup holes. I like the layout. This course has beautiful seasonal flowers planted that adds color to the landscape. No GPS on the basic carts. Highly recommended.

Even though I was playing alone, it was made clear that a mask was required at all times. Raised cups to ground level, no divot mix, rakes or water stations open. Snack shop available for take out only, pro shop and clubhouse closed to the public. Overseeding mostly burned off, the Bermuda has taken back over almost everywhere. Tees lush and immaculate with few divots unrepaired. Fairways lush and nice to play from. Rough lush and mowed down to about 2", very good POP rough. Bermuda greens had been punched during the closed period with small tynes, probably about 2 weeks ago? Almost completely healed. Mostly smooth, firm and they putted medium speed. Customer service always exceptional here. Quick efficient check-in and I cannot say enough good things about Teal, one of the pro's @ MH. Late on a Saturday afternoon and she was out delivering cold bottled water to players on the course since the normal water stations were closed. Nice touch and much appreciated! Excellent all grass driving range was open. Very playable and fun layout with a decent amount of water, sand and tall trees. However, except for several par 4's that are more strategic than length holes, this is a grip it and rip it course. Good collection of par 3's and enjoyable par 5's. Played here Sunday afternoon, 3/15 after I played the Tournament course in the morning. Played the first 4-5 holes quickly by myself but then caught a logjam, although I expected it because the pro shop guy told me the course was busy. A single behind me joined me on No. 6 and we played the rest of the round together. Still a good pace and finished in just about 3:00 total. It got really windy all of a sudden on the 10th hole and stayed pretty windy the rest of the round. Otherwise perfect golf weather all day.

Conditions are very nice. I gave the course 9s across the board. Greens are smooth, firm and medium-fast. Fairways are excellent. Rough is nice and much less penal than the Tournament course... maybe 2 inches deep although some areas around greens were a little thicker. Bunkers were fantastic. Tee boxes too.

First time playing this course as well. It's my least favorite of the three at MHCC. While nice, it has a very generic "desert golf" feel and appearance that evokes nearby courses like Desert Springs, Desert Falls, Bermuda Dunes, etc. To its credit, it has lots of beautiful flowers in vibrant bloom and keeps things interesting with quite a few doglegs. Also some nice dramatic bunkering in spots. It's by far the most forgiving of the three MHCC courses. Recommended if you haven't played it, but if you have, I'd opt for one of the other two courses first.

This layout fits my eye, very playable and fun. Decent amount of water, sand and tall trees. However, except for several par 4's that are not driver holes, this is a grip it and rip it course overall. Good collection of par 3's and I really liked the par 5's. Tees lush and immaculate, all divots were repaired. Fairways lush and very nice to play from. Rough lush and mowed down to about 2". Sand traps were over the top great. Not only the way they were raked and maintained, but the thick fine quality sand was excellent to play from. Greens were smooth, firm and putted medium speed. Suprisingly firm a day after heavy rains, I had a mediocre putting day but the greens were great. Customer service always excepcional here. Plenty of wayer stations on the couse and an open snack stand at the turn. This course is as immaculately maintained as any I have played maybe ever. Beautiful seasonal flowers planted that would remind you of IW Celebrity or Langdon Farms. Lots of attention to detail, workers were out hand edging the boundaries of all the sand traps. Excellent all grass driving range. No GPS on the basic carts. Highly recommended from both a layout and especially a playing condition perspective.

Played out here today with xazntigerx. Thanks to Rob for setting up this round through his Club Corp membership. Only $36 to play Mission Hills in season is quite a steal. It was very busy out here today, but they kept the tee times moving on all three courses. We were paired with another twosome and teed off a little after 11:00. We never pushed any groups ahead and were finished in less than 4 hours.

The course conditions were excellent as expected this time of year. Tee boxes, fairways and rough all beautifully lush and well-manicured. Rough not too deep, so the ball usually sat up nicely. A little trickier on chips around the greens if it settled in a bit. The greens were firm. Chips and approach shots would bounce and roll-out like crazy. However, putts rolled kind of slow. The surfaces were smooth, though, just a bit slower than they looked and sometimes hard to adjust after watching a chip skid way past the hole. Bunkers had nice sand that was raked consistently.

This was my second time at Mission Hills. Palmer is the least favorite of the three courses, but it is still a solid track enhanced by the private club atmosphere and excellent conditions. There is a really fun stretch of holes on the back nine and there are several sharp dogleg holes, but otherwise it's a pretty low-key layout that feels "familiar" if you've played a lot in the Coachella Valley. Pleasant overall experience, but I would still pick the Shore or Dye courses if I have a choice next time I play here.
