This course might be interesting once they following problems are rectified: "Fairways" with no grass, "sand traps" with no sand in them (more like rocks), and some system to help people who have never played the course before find the greens easier uphill. There are so many blind tee shots that you spend most of the day worrying the group behind you isn't going to shell you. You will probably be down there a while in the shelling area since you lose tee shots hit right into the middle of some fairways. Worst scoring round I have had in over 20 years, as in since I started playing long courses at age 15.

Personally, I will not play this course again... even if paid to.

Played today. The course is in POOR shape. $24 w/cart after 1pm on w/e was worth the drive from long Beach. I would play it again at that rate and its current condition. It will be a nice to play once it gets back into fair shape. Ham sandwich at the snack bar was good came with chips and a pickle. Look at the course map on the scorecard to make sure you are at the correct hole. Signs are wrong on one side or just gone

Played 2 weeks ago. Will go back. Good deal but need a little more in a course. Greens were firm and decent. I did enjoy one hole only because I got my moneys worth-took a 10 on a par 4. Sweeeeeet.

The wife and I had no tee time scheduled for 6/11/2011, so we decided to trek over to Cresta Verde. We called ahead to check and see if there was a tournament going on. The gentlemen on the phone said no tournament and it was wide open for play. Well when we arrived to the course and journey on down to the first tee box my visual scan of the course showed me why it was wide open for play. The tee boxes were horrible. Basically the tee boxes were dirt patches. Before we got to the second hole my wife was complaining and was willing to sacrifice the green fess for the day and leave. Me being a golf addict, I talked her into staying and finishing. Should had took her advice and left. There were quite a few holes where the signs were wrong or they just didn't want to replace the signage. On hole # 17 when you approach the tee box the sign said #8, but on the reverse side of the sign it said #17. My GPS unit didn't even function right on this course.
Now the bunkers! There is no excuse for a course to leave their bunkers in the condition that I witnessed at Cresta Verde! Those bunkers were a down right shame. As far as I concerned the greenskeeper and the management staff at this course should be locked up for abuse to a course that has potential to be a modern classic course.
We tee'd of around 1:15 pm and it took 4 hours to play at a cost of only $48 bucks. However the paste of play was good probably because there is not alot of golfers out there willing to play this course because of the bunkers and conditions. Oh back to the bunkers on #5 I ended up in the bunker. I now know how Dustin Johnson felt at the 2010 PGA. THIS BUNKER WAS SO BAD THAT, YES I PICKED MY BALL UP AND PLACED IT IN THE NARLEY RUFF INSTEAD OF TAKING A CHANCE AT RUINING MY CG15. JUST WASN'T WORTH IT. Now use your imagination on the condition of these bunkers.
Ok i don't want to continue beating the greenskeeper and management up for the awful conditions my wife and I were forced to deal with on this course, but take that $48 bucks and go have a nice lunch somewhere. This course isn't worth the green fees. oh one more thing, my wife was starving after we finished the course and I suggested we go to the clubhouse and grab a bite, her response was, "are you kidding!! If they will not take care of the course what makes you think they are taking care of the cooking facilities!!"
One last thing!! For real this is the last thing at the turn and after the round and even on the course and in the clubhouse, we notice a lot of the staff sitting around on their cell phones talking or texting on their phones! The cart guy was sitting in a cart trying to keep from becoming a bobble head! Poor guy was so tired he couldn't stay a wake. I hope his neck is ok today. If each of those staff members take five minutes of their time from that day instead of talking, sleeping and texting, and put it towards the course or even one of the tee boxes we may have put a smile on a golfer who want to enjoy a nice day of golf at their place of employment.

OK for the price. Great improvement since my last review3 but still has a ways to go. As you play you can see they're trying. Staff was very nice, took a reservation for me as a single. Played in under 3 hours as 2 foursomes let me play through. Course was pretty empty. tee boxes were for the most part level but one, the 5th was really thin almost bare and a few others were not really level. Fairways were thin, had a hard time telling if I was on fairway or rough in spots. Rough was short. Did not land in any sand for a change but the traps looked poor. Greens were nice but firm. Overall a nice experience which I'll repeat.

The new management(GM) of this course is worst then the course conditions. Save the gas and play any other course in the IE if you want to enjoy a day of golf. Paid for a 3 some online and was told that we didn't and prove it. Had us as a 2 some (Once we did, was told we could just play elsewhere) Played this course many time in the past 2005-2006 and it was much better then it is today. Worst Experience Ever at a golf course, will never play there again.

Have not played here since 2004. The course was actually better than I recall it being. Conditionally is still an issue, with lots of areas that need attention. The greens were decent as were the bunkers, so playing "winter rules" allowed me to overlook the scruffy conditions. First off (In a light rain) nobody there, so walked around in a little over 2 hrs. Staff was great and for $16 (senior rate I think?) a bargin. While not one of my favorites, I will probably return sooner than 6 years.

Played 7/22 at 7:30 AM, GolfNow $32 rate. Employees were very nice, the starter got us out on the back first due to a senior men's club tourney that had just begun. Round lasted just under 4 hours. Marshal was very nice as well. Aside from that, however, I expected a pretty well-maintained track from reading the previous reviews but was disappointed. Tee boxes, fairways and rough were either bare patches or overgrown, sticky kikuyugrass. Greens were somewhat bumpy, and bunkers were hard-pan or full of weeds. Lakes were disgusting and slimy. There were many maintenance workers on the course, so it appears that they are trying to right the ship, but for now I will be sitting this one out for a while. Good rate and top-notch customer service made up for the conditions somewhat though.
