Played Friday 4-19-13. I agree with previous post. Eagle has the hottest snack cart girls around. The course is getting better. Signs of money being spent on the course. Keep it up. This is a great course and really needs some updating. Tees, traps and greens are good. The fairways need work. Too many tight lies and multiple types of grass growing. Not to mention dirt lies in the middle of the fairway. It appears they are working on it. Greens, tees and traps first. Lets hope fairways next. Gotta punch those Bermuda grass fairways !!!

Played Saturday, 13-Apr-13 about 10 minutes late due to a fog delay. I would like to nominate Eagle Glen for consistently having the HOTTEST cart girls in SoCal. Seriously hot and great attitudes all...those in the 19th hole weren't bad either. That's about it for the positives.

Sorry to say Eagle Glen has sadly reverted to a quasi dog track The greens had evidence of being punched but were very hard and spotty. The fairways were not in very good shape either. Most disappointing was the sand. The greenside bunker on the long par 5 "lang whang" was concrete. When I tossed the rake in it bounced!

Ah well, they are punching the fairways (and hopefully repunching the greens) this week. I look forward to going back to this great layout in about 4-6 weeks.

Played early Tuesday morning 3/12/2013 in a qualifier for the SCGA Amateur Net Championship. Started off as a real CF with first tee times at 7AM, range open at 6AM - er, after the time change last weekend, it's pitch black at 6AM and barely light at 7. (Times were apparently a course decision, not SCGA.) Course staff underprovided and overworked. Warmup was in the dark - no way to see where the ball was going. Free small bucket of range balls. Lucky I didn't chip my foot down the range! Smallish putting green was available. No assigned carts! - Find the players in your group (by tee and time) and pair up!! Just be at your tee at the correct time. A lot of unnecessary anxiety and confusion to start the morning.

Once out on the course, things got MUCH better. SCGA had quite a few staff on the course to move play along (they have new POP guidelines, which they appear to be pretty aggressive about - we played in 4hr20min). And they had staff stationed at challenging holes to do spotting and help with rulings - the guy stationed at #2 was especially needed (and helpful). After seeing recent GK posts about condition I was concerned going in, but the playing conditions overall were very good. Greens were especially good - looked great, firm and held shots, rolled well at pretty fast speeds. Lies in the fairways were tight and dry but generally good. Rough was spotty in places depending on sprinkler coverage, and overall the entire course was dry and firm. Tees were generally level and in good shape, and sand was good. Lots of ESA and natural areas to swallow balls if you get offline, and with the dry firm conditions we had some unexpectedly long rollouts that ended up lost or in hazards.

We saw the cart girl several times. Plenty of water available. Food at the restaurant afterward was good. SCGA efficiently tallied the scores and dispensed resuts. After the initial confusion, the course played great and the weather was fine (pretty hot for March!). Recommended.

Hope that when they are finished aerating they put signs up around the greens telling all golfers to REPAIR YOUR BALL MARKS. Played today and that being the only real problem with the course. Except, ... Continue »

Hope that when they are finished aerating they put signs up around the greens telling all golfers to REPAIR YOUR BALL MARKS. Played today and that being the only real problem with the course. Except, teed off at 8 AM and 2 times the marshal ( yes they do have one) came and told us to move it along as we were behind. Both times we were about a hole behind the group in front of us and 1 1/2 holes ahead of the group behind us. Also, according to the GPS we were 7 min ahead the first time and 10 min ahead the second time. I guess the guy was just bored, he never came around a third time after we had a nice talk on the second stop.

We had a match Saturday AM with a few other local pros. One in our group couldn't make it so we were told that they had a guy set join us who was working on making it to the PGA tour. I went to the range to warm up a bit then down to the practice chipping green. I was stopped buy a guy hitting range balls next to the green who said that this area was for special people only. I thought he was just joking because this practice area is open to the public and I have used this area for years. Anyway, the green was all sanded and not really worth dealing with but I was laughing inside at the arrogant asian that basically told me to beat it, yet he was practicing there. Got to the 1st tee and who should appear but the special guy himself.
Tee boxes and fairways seem to be decent. The special guy hit his tee shot OB to the right. Greens were decent but a little patchy and bumpy. Fairways were ok with good run out but some patchy uneven rough. Pace was fair, if you think 5 hrs. is fair. Still a decent day of golf with one in our group beating all of us with a 65. The special guy shot mid 80’s or so, but he hit his second shot in the lake on 18 he just kept driving away and off the course I guess......... he was special!

Good sand in the bunkers and the greens were so-so as you would have one dry and fast and then a few that were soaking wet and then a few that were just wet and then back to dry. You had no idea if they would be slow or fast. Don't know why they were inconsistent.

Played Sat 9-Feb with an 08:10 time and waited through a 45 min frost delay. The staff were sympathetic/courteous throughout. The service at the 19th hole was excellent as usual. Here you often get to see a few bridal parties checking out the facilities...which brightens up the place nicely.
I agree with Weeman-the course is in overall good condition. Even though it rained (hard) the day before, the traps were in great shape. The only complaint I had was that the fairways were thin at times-nothing too bad. The grounds crew looks like they're doing a good job!

Please keep it up!

I didn't see what previous reviewers were experiencing. On the contrary I found much of the course to be pretty green and quite playable, especially given the time of year. Tees - generally good growth with some divot damage on the threes and a few that were uneven. But about 8.0 overall. Fairways quite nice and green all things considered with quite preferable lies throughout. The bermuda is in nice shape and I suspect will be really good come May or so. Sure, there were a few soggy spots and a fair amount of divot damage in the landing areas but all in all in pretty good shape! The resodding work has taken and you would be hard to pressed to see the more recent growth in any of those parts - of which there used to be many. Solid 8.2 or 8.3. Rough was dormant and generally non existent except for the occassional clumpy and tangly lie. A couple of different growths here and there too but nothing to worry about. 6.0. Sand I did not visit but it looked pretty well conditioned green side and crusty in the fairway traps. Greens were fairly decent with a few bobbles and average speed. Where they were less playable was on 14 and 16 which both had recent hex plug repairs. 14 was the green that they had quite a few problems with a few months ago and it contains extensive repairs that are in the process of taking hold. That green was noticeably slower and bumpier. But mainly the greens were decent. 7.0 Biggest maintenance issue is each green surround contains quite a few gurs which are bare and hardpan - sure they are marked and all but they detract somewhat from the look of the course in those spots. Both the approach hazard on 2 and the fairway hazard on 12 have been extensively cleared so they only contain one large tree and some smaller shrubs or ornamental boulders. I kind of like how it looks but it definitely changes the feel of things especially playing up to the green on 2. The tee shot can now be played long and left as you can easily see the pin through the reduced hazard element on the approach. POP was a ludicrous sub three hour round after I ditched my twosome and did one drive thru of a four. Not typical at all for a Sunday morn at eagle but i will take it as i was in the car and heading home by 11.

Fairways could be classified as "standing water ". Overall poor conditions, cart path only, five hour plus pace of play. Sand traps and greens were fine. This course should have given large discounts for golfers to play this course. Heavy construction by #2...you could drive anywhere on this hole. GPS is worthless due to constant useless massages on screen.
