Had the 8:04 A.M. slot.....rarely saw the group in front of us....and *never* saw the group behind us. I take that back....when we were getting a ride out to the car, we saw them coming down the 16th fairway!! This is my 6th time playing The Quarry....maybe I've just lucked-out, but slow play is rare here. Just a hair over 4-hours to play the beautiful 18 holes here. The greens at O.Q. have been a concern lately, but when we played on 8/17/04 - the greens were as good as I have ever seen them! Perhaps just a wee-bit slow....but nothing to complain about. They rolled true and held most shots well. Fairways lush, as always; the rough was thick enough that you want to stay the hell out of it! Holes #16 (Par-5 with a lake that'll pinch your options for your second shot), #17 (well-bunkered Par-4) and #18 (short downhill Par-4 with water in-play on the right) make for some exciting golf - especially if you've got a match on the line. They did, in fact, lower the greens-fees to $50.00 mid-week (does GolfQ.com still have any discount??) , which makes this a first-rate bargain....always includes a small bag o' range-balls (to hit on a nice, well-marked, all-grass range with a practice bunker and chipping area!!) and a cart with GPS.

Perhaps I should keep my mouth shut. "Our little secret" could end up being the most popular track in SoCal!!

course shows quality from step one, visually dramatic and intimidating, but plays fair as there are bail out areas on all tee shots and approach shots. you need to hit the fairways but they are larger than they look! greens roll true even tho you are on the side of a mountain, no funny breaks here! teed off at 6:30a finished at 9:30a. new green fee of $50 weekday makes this a steal!!! Must play!!!

Fun, Beautiful course, but very tight and bring lots of extra balls. When you hit it out here it may be down a 100 ft. cliff.

Played Friday morning & the pace of play was so good, we finished in a little more than 4 hours. We only saw the group in front of us at 10th tee and never even saw the group behind us after the first hole. Price was reasonable, we got discounted fee from 24/7 for $60. You would enjoy the scenery in this golf course. Course layout is so interesting that you won't get bored with the usual fairway layout. Will be back.

Played on Thursday, July 29th in the morning. Finished in just a shade under 4.5 hours, no pressure from behind. We lucked out. There was good spacing between 4-somes because it was a weekday. Our tee-time was 7:32 and we hit the first balls at 7:35.

According to the starter, the greens had been "lightly sanded" the day before. Not exactly my definition of "light" - they were much too sandy for my personal tastes, but I've played on MUCH worse. Not to worry....I'm sure the greens will calm down in a few days. It's nice to know that the greenskeepers at The Quarry are staying on top of things....the greens here are not the smoothest or best you will see....but overall they are pretty nice.

The rest of the course is in fine shape. Worth the drive from anywhere. Great customer service.....like being a day-member at a country club.

Do what we did and get the discount coupon from GolfQ.com - the regular weekday $65.00 fee becomes $50.00. Print out four coupons for your group and it saves you $60.00 (and that's not chump-change!!) .....with your savings you can buy a few extra beers at the 19th hole!! It can get pretty hot out there in the Summer!! It was just before Noon when we were coming up the 18th fairway.....and a cold-one was sounding pretty good by the end of the round!

Oak Quarry is one of the best courses I have every played. I belong to a private course that I love and Oak Quarry remains my favorite.

My group played Oak Quarry for the first time on Tuesday. The entire experience was great. The greens were a little on the slow side which I suspect is due to the heat (it was in the upper 90s). Our only complaint was the lack of any sand in any of the bunkers. Despite that one flaw, we had a great time.
