The course is in PGA Tournament quality condition. Makes you feel like your playing in an event. Unbelievably beautiful. By far, the most visually striking course I've played in California. The carts are equipped w/ gps that gives you yardage to front, middle and back of the greens. Very affordable rate considering the quality and beauty of the course ($65 weekday). A must play.

Not worth the price when the greens were in as bad of shape as they were. The course is definitely scenic, but the greens were very bumpy and very slow. We played on a weekday and the weather was beautiful, but for some reason, they decided to water the greens on holes 17 and 18 before we were done with our round, which made the greens even slower. Not helping the fact was somebody who was giving a lesson to a woman who had obviously never touched a golf club, in the group in front of us, while the group behind us kept hitting up on us. Not cool.

The course is fairly easy, the toughest part being the elevation changes and club selection. There are a lot of Lateral Hazards, which is not as punishing as OB when you hit a bad shot into them.

WOW !!! you gotta play it now, green airation is only 2 holes at a time, everything is in great shape, but the two greens under repair, & those arn't bad.

Headed out on a Sunday morning as a single, and was able to secure a time at 12:30. Actually went out about 12:20. Absolutely some of the best views and scenery around! That’s where the fun stopped. 6 HOURS later (actually about 6hrs 10 mins), we completed the 18th in the dusk. Pace of play was, dare I say it, SLOW. 6 groups piled up at the 10th tee, and it never cleared up for the entire 18. The course is a great layout, but not for the timid or beginner golfer.

used the golf q discount. course is in OK shape. the greens are slower than typical. biggest complaint is pace of play. if you're digging in the bushes after every shot you need to play from the red tees! hopefully the place will be in better shape when all the aeration is completed. they do 2 at a time. the greens are all so slow they may as well get them all done together so they'll play more consistently.

Well, I have played here twice now, and certainly it is a pleasing to the eye course, can be difficult too. But with that said I think it is a bit overpriced as relates to the golf itself.

Well, I have played here twice now, and certainly it is a pleasing to the eye course, can be difficult too. But with that said I think it is a bit overpriced as relates to the golf itself.

Lots of blind shots, carrys, and shots that are misplaced by 10 yards can mean big numbers.

My biggest complaint is that there is a lot of 380 some yard holes, or so it seems - I felt I teed up the the ball and then hit 7 iron into every green.

Nice course, just really wonder if it was worth 75 bucks on a friday, especially since Trilogy or SCPGA are cheaper and in the same general area.

I agree with everything the last poster said. 100%. Slow play was rampant. It was a Saturday, so - one does not expect to race around the track in 3.5 hours....but this particular day (3/6) it was bordering on the absurd!! To put it simply: Our starting time was 10:00 A.M. - and we didn't get off the first tee intil almost 11:00!! I guess it picked up "a little" after #12 or 13 - but, please!!! We didn't get finished until 4:05 P.M. - five hours and five minutes. That's a long day, folks!! I picked a heck of a year to give up "cussing on the golf course" for Lent!!

The greens were .... well..... I'd say just a wee bit "shaggy" - and they are in desperate need of a mowing and a good rolling. I'm sure that the drilling and sanding due later this month will eventually help the situation. But as for now.....give each putt a good ride or you will come up short all day long!

That being said: What a nice place!! Not an easy track, (I imagine from the tips that it can be a brutal golf experience for all but the serious single-digit handicapper out there!) kind of a funky, hilly layout, but - really enjoyable!! Oak Quarry is now officially on my short-list of places to play in my regular rotation !! Great conditions, (other than the slow greens), great staff (they kept it moving as best they could....it was a case of "T.M.G." - too many golfers!) - and not too far of a drive from Pasadena. It may even be closer than Goose Creek, miles and time-wise.

With Hidden Valley going the way of the dinosaur, The Quarry is a hot-ticket item!!

On the "Cheeseburger" scale.....this one gets four big gold stars !!

Spoke with a marshall that said they were having some problems and that in about 3 weeks they should be perfect, just in time to for aeration. Other than the greens, course is in excellent shape.

The course was in much better condition than I had expected given all the recent rainfall. The greens were theslowest I've ever seen them. I suspect they just needed to be cut? Just one of my favorit... Continue »
