Hallelujah for the rain this past winter because it did miracles for some courses. Oak Quarry is now one fine recipient of these rains. The course is immaculate. The rough is lush, the greens are smooth as silk and the fairways are butter.

Do yourself a huge favor before it gets warm. Get you butt out there and plays this gem in the hills.

Played Oak Quarry this morning with some great Pals. Watched my buddy Eagle Number two. It was windy today so the scoring wasnt very consistent, but the course from aerating 3 weeks ago is in really great shape, when you place your tee in the tee box sometimes your tee goes all the way down as you have found a covered up punch hole since the tee boxes are very healthy. Fairways were very nice, like carpet in most areas, some wet parts still. Rough was normal 1 to 3 inches with very little bare spots to be found. Green were not as fast they appear but balls rolled smoothly. Bunkers thin, hard pan met your club immediately upon impact to make sand play challenging. Great day inspite of the wind. Have wanted to make it back to Oak Quarry for the longest time and finally had a chance to do so, with even extra motivation after hearing about the conditions from Gregholla the last time we played last week. He raved about its current condition, and he was absolutely right. The Rock is in prime shape right now from tee to green. Fairways have very good coverage throughout (a tad thin here or there on the fringes maybe but most of it is awesome), and the rough is of varying length but mostly lush and playable. The tee boxes are all in pretty optimum shape although here or there a bit shaggy, but no big deal. And the bunkers are good - not great, but very good. The fairway bunkers are firm, the greenside bunkers have ample sand - pretty much just how it should be. The greens, now a few weeks after aerating, are pretty perfect right now. Just the right firmness to hold shots well but also to challenge your putting speed when you're on them. Not too many ball marks at all to speak of and they're very well covered and consistent on the speed, which is currently medium fast. POP was a bit of bummer (a little under five hours) since the group in front of mine was incredibly slow (as evidenced by never seeing them have to wait for a green to clear so they were well behind the pace). I even called the front desk to ask them to send someone out to push them a bit, but never saw any marshall come out after they agreed to do it. C'est la Vie. Saw the cart girl at least 2x before calling it a day, so that was good. If you haven't played Oak Quarry yet, it's a real treat for those optics lovers. Some of the holes are just so cool to play and the challenge is in not getting caught up in all of the awesome scenery. But it's a very unique landscape and the course has really been masterfully carved out of it. Highly recommended right now.

Had an awesome time out here for a little birthday round with @apisarski @fastfish443 and my girlfriend. This course is one of the most scenic golf course's I've had the pleasure or playing. The greens were just punched last weekend, so they were really bumpy. The fairways were great, same with the tee-box's. I can't wait to play here again when the greens are in better shape. I will be back to play this course in the coming months.

I had the pleasure to play at Oak Quarry on Sunday March 12th. This is by far one of the most beautiful courses I have played. The holes are challenging but fair. The tee boxes were perfect as were the fairway's. The greens were punched the week before and very bumpy. I look forward to go back to play with the greens in better shape. The staff was very good, they met us at the car to pick up our bags and returned them to the car for us. All in all this was a very good day on an excellent course.

I had a chance to play Oak Quarry for the first time Sunday 3/12/17 with Gregholla, Greg's girlfriend Hillary, and my dad. We had a 7:40am tee time and were able to see an amazing sunrise while enjoying a fantastic breakfast burrito. After warm ups we were up on the tee box with no groups in sight. It was really nice to have open holes in front and no one breathing down our back. We enjoyed playing at our pace.

Course conditions were great besides the greens being punched and overseeded a week ago. Even with the punch marks and sandy conditions greens peformed pretty well. Most of the time you could get a decent true break without to many surprises. Occasionally you would get a bad hope or under putt due to slow speeds of the green. On the positive note green received shots surprisingly well with good hold and allowed spin. Fairways were pretty close to perfect, allowing drives to roll and roll. Rough was long and lush but not too hard to recover from. The only real negative I have is the sand traps were extremely soggy or puddled. I had a few extra bunker shots that I would have normally have recovered from first shot.

All and all a great day on a gorgeous course. I believe it was worth every penny and will definitely be going back. Breath taking views with all of the surrounding hills so green from recent rains. Do yourself a favor and play before things dry out and go back to brown.

Played last Wednesday with Matt-Matt and David. Conditions were the best I've experienced here. This is not a course you can play quickly but it was even a little slower than "normal". Greens were good but a little bumpy, rough was thick and lush but if you got past that it was hit-or-miss. Fairways were quite good and had a surprising amount of roll considering how much rain we've had. Couple observations - maybe it's just me but I'm convinced the green on #4 is faster than the others. I think it's from the wind whipping through the rock opening that leads to #5 and drying it out. Also, the fairway damage David noted seemed to be heaviest on the last few holes - likely because people ran out of divot mix and there's no place to get a refill on-course. Finally, the only real disappointing aspect was the range during warm-up. The roped off area was as bare and trashed/worked over as any I've ever seen - I'd estimate no more than 15% of the area had grass, the rest was dirt/divots. Not important enough to keep me from coming back but out-of-place when compared to everything else. Staff was great from front desk to snack cart, the Marshall delivering a replacement set of divot mix for everyone speaks to their level of customer service. Recommended, especially in its current condition.

I jumped on a great rate in an email blast from OQ, joined at 10AM on Wednesday, 2/22/17 by GKers HmtGolfGuy, lotrgolfer48, and mpisarski01 on a sunny warm day with some occasional blustery breezes. I was glad to find that there were no cart restrictions after the recent rainy weather, and some of the lakes actually had water in them.

Greens were in very good condition, firm but with good coverage, and generally held shots well, rolling at medium-fast speed. We saw scattered old ball marks on all greens, and in many cases there was bumpiness and scattered debris affecting putting. Fairways gave generally good lies, with only scattered bare or mushy areas encountered. There were many old divots unfilled, and the turf around these slashes was brown and seemingly damaged. Rough was 1-2 inches immediately adjacent and very playable – shots further offline could be muddy/bare/bushy/hazard. Tees were OK – par-3 tees were set wide to provide plenty of teeing area. I was in one bunker (greenside #10) with only a very thin layer over hard base, resulting in a wedge rocket. My partners seemed to have no problems with the sand they encountered.

Very nice golf carts with ball washer/club cleaner, as well as a very good interactive GPS that gives a clear look at hole features and also pin locations. Also a cooler with ice, but no water. Plenty of water available on-course. We got a sand refill from a traveling marshal, but there’s no refill rack on the 10th hole or anywhere, so many divots go unfilled. Saw the cart girl several times, and there is a snack bar after #9. The driving range is on grass, but the setup today put us back on an area that was likely used yesterday, so a good hitting surface was hard to find.

My favorite course in SoCal. Always recommended.

Joined up with Dave, Ron, and Matt for a little midweek fun at the quarry. Dave somehow got a very nice $38 rate for 10am It was very hard to pass up. The staff was super friendly from when I arrived and the staff picked up my bag from my parking spot. The lady at the desk was happy to see us and got us checked in very fast. I purchased a small bucket and the cart barn guys gave us a large and said here have a few more to warm up with.

We got out about 6 mins early and were out on our way. Course is still stunning as usual. Overall I would rate the conditions very good.

Tee's - the tee boxes might have been a little disappointing as the grass was a little long but they were wide enough to find a good area to tee it up.

Fairways - were cut short and were running very fast which is nice on such a long course. They also provided some nice fluffy lies and it was very nice to hit from. One little down side is there are a few poa cancer spots on 3-4 fairways but only about a square yard in size.

Sand- sand was a little firm still due to all of the rains and the sand on hole 11 had a nice puddle in it that Matt found.

Rough- The rough was in good shape and very few bare spots. The grass varied from area to area but was mostly consistent. I did fine one muddy area on the side of a hill where my club dug in deep.

Greens- Green were decent but had some bumps due to foot traffic and easily knocked your ball off line. After having one i started to hit a little harder and pounded the putts into the back of the cup. Speed was running medium fast but nothing special.

I do believe the greens keeper was having a bad day this morning as all of the pins were in tough locations. There were 3-4 pins that were no more than five feet from the edge of the green and on an upper tier. (not a lot of ball marks up there).

In all a fun course in great shape right now and I recommend as always.
