Had a few hours to kill in the High Desert so decided to play Green Tree. The pace of play was amazing. 5 hours for 36 holes. Green fees were very reasonable, $42 for Monday morning with a $18 replay rate for second 18. The course was empty and I felt like I had the course to myself.

The tee boxes were mostly level and always had a good level area to tee off from. Fairways weren't the greenest but mostly had good lies. I don't know if it was the lack of play, but greens were very smooth. Bunkers were horrible. Greenside bunkers were so hard that 3 of 5 shots I hit into the bunker just rolled out to the fringe. Two shots that actually ended up in the bunker had to be played like hitting on the cart path.

The staff was friendly, especially the marshall Dino who noticed I'm not a local and haven't played the course before gave me some tips before teeing off.

It was a Monday... but when I got done and signed for returning the cart, I saw there were only 11 carts signed out for the whole day. Hopefully City of Victorville will keep the golf course. They just completed a nice club house and apparently, decided to open a library instead of a full-service restaurant.

Played 4-15-24. Got out for a $35 rate. Course is still getting back to its one time perfect conditions. There are still some dry areas and the greens are recovering from aeration so a little slower than usual but a pleasure to play. I have always felt that you can put up with a lot of flaws if the greens are good and that is the case here. It is not the gem it once was but getting closer. Check it out if you are in the area it is well worth it!

Played 2 weeks ago. This is the third time in the last 2 months. It was an all time favorite for years, then things went downhill when Billy Casper Golf took over management. It has been slowly but surely coming back but still has a way to go. Fairways are a bit brown but nice to play from. Rough is pretty short and very nice to play out of. Sand was pretty good and was a pleasure to play from. As always here the greens were the highlight! Great hold, great speed and lots of fun putts. I keep hoping it will continue to improve. All 3 times we played here it was pretty quiet and making a tee time was easy. I hope more will come out and play so they won't decide to close it down but enjoying the experience of a wide open golf course. If you are in the area its a must play!

Played 5-22-23. Today was an OMG experience. Used to play this course on a weekly basis and then Billy Casper Golf took over management and it went steadily downhill till it was not worth even considering in our regular rotation. Haven't played here in over a year between bad conditions and an increase in crime. Heard things were improving so decided to give it another try. It is not back to its glory days but wow what an improvement. Fairways were lush and green, tee boxes had a few rough spots but mostly nice and the greens were smooth and soft. Green speed was medium fast though they used to be lightning fast. As seems to be the case in the desert the sand was marginal. Mostly hard packed and a bit damp with some puddles from the recent rains so hopeful they will dry out and get a little softer. We paid $37 senior rate for green fees and a cart so well worth it. We will be returning on a regular basis again and hope to see it continue to improve back to when we called it the hidden gem in the desert! If you are in the area or just looking for a new spot to play check it out.

Walked the Blues (6700/72.0/127) in 4H early afternoon, played with Paul. Breezy, partly cloudy and in the 60's. $15 Sr. rate to walk was outstanding. I see many reviews start with commentary about a poor interaction(s) with course staff. Not my experience here by a long shot. I called 3 courses close by after my morning round to inquire about rates/availability. One could not even reach their pro shop. Another the guy acted like I was asking for some special favor to get him to tell me how much it cost for a single to walk. Here, I got Tony, and he was the reason I chose this course to play in the afternoon. Tony quickly gave me the rundown on fees/availability. When I arrived, he quickly got me processed and on the first tee. But not before hooking me up on their Sr. rate and when he found out my first time here, grabbed a course yardage book and was giving me tips on numerous holes. Customer service is an attitude, and Tony could have run a customer service clinic. Much appreciated! Tees mostly good with a few needing divot repair. Fairways more lush than thin but were spotty. Rough was mostly winter thin where there was rough, lusher around the greens. It had many hardpan areas that looked like they had quit watering those areas long ago to conserve their water for the more important areas? Should not be that far off the fairway anyway. Traps were okay. Texture I liked and I sure sampled enough to be able to accurately rate them. Greens were firm and quick. I had 2-3' coming back seemingly on everything AD. The were smooth and rolled well. Needed to factor in some runout on iron shots. No on course services. Busy restaurant onsite. Okay layout in very playable condition, plus it's right off the 15 freeway. The course was in better playing condition overall than Hesperia which I played in the morning. However, even though hilly, the layout was more vanilla with less fun holes overall IMO. Would occasionally play if local, but liked Hesperia better overall. Recommended.

Tee boxes are in good shape and the bunkers had good amounts of sand. Fairways are real good. The whole course, considering the green fees and amount of play, is in fantastic shape.

Played 1-4-18. Course is still having issues. Without water they have eliminated much of the fairways and the rough is mostly dirt. The tee boxes are in decent shape and the traps though they look bad are very nice and soft. The highlight of the course are the greens. Very fast and very receptive. Downhill putts are frightening but they roll true and make up for most of the flaws. Staff was nice and the marshal very friendly. The cost makes it tempting and since the course tends to be empty you can get in a round pretty quickly. We played in about 3.5 hours and did not see another golfer till the 16th. If you want to test your putting skills you will enjoy this course but don't expect the beauty it had. Keep hoping it will make a comeback but it will take years to recover from the condition it is in now. A strong 4+, almost a 5 because of the greens.

I've been thinking of playing here many times on my way to LV. I played today on a Saturday afternoon on my was tobLV for a convention.

Service just fine.
Course winds through an older community...a bit sketchy late in the day. Carts required back by 630 -- I teed off at 430. I frankly wouldn't want to be on the back nine later than that, as some of the local kids begin lingering. I literally had to shoo off a kid off 5th tee while she lounges there with her golden retriever. By the time I got to 14...I was ready to hit the road. In the early morning, probably a completely different vibe.
This course has good bones. A decent design that they obviously can't afford to keep up...so they choose to focus on greens (good) and fairways (decent), while the rough and cart paths are horrible. Cart was well past its prime. It was bone jarring on the "cart path", such as it is.
Worth the $20 twilight if you need a break, but I wouldn't want to pay much more.

Played 1-17-17. Got in a morning round after a long frost delay. Was out with the second group which was a slow one. Played the front 9 in under 2 hours though. Played the back by myself and finished in just over an hour. Tee boxes are in good shape but not great. Fairways were playable but nothing to get excited over. Only was in 1 bunker all day and it was firm but sandy so not bad. Then there were the greens! They held well and I fixed a lot of pitch marks and most were mine. The speed was FAST! Would think make a 6 ft putt by hitting it about 4 ft and have it just keep rolling on by and leave a 4 ft comeback putt! Was amazed how many time it looked like the ball would stop by the cup but just keep rolling slowly by and go past 3 of 4 ft. Once I got the speed figured out Had a great day of golf! I paid $22 so the course was well worth the price. Nothing like the Green Tree of old but worth playing if you are in the area! I would rate it a 6.5 though it came out higher.
