Played the course again yesterday. Everything is a little better than last time condition wise. However, the bunkers were all soaked. The customer service was terrible. There was no marshal, snack cart, and the halfway house was closed. Worth it for the twilight rate.

This was a great course. As a junior golfer, i get unlimited twilight golf monday thru thursday for 10 bucks a month! This is my first time playing and i got a 91, pretty good for a 11 year old. The greens are fast, yet have at least 3 types of grass growing on them, very weird. The fairways were nice and rough was very challenging. Finished 18 holes in about 3.4 hours! I reccomend this course for a person looking for a challenging course but fast pace of play. Also make sure to either have a pull or push cart or rent an electric cart. I used my 3 wheel sun mountain speed cart and the walk was still a little tough. Great course, will come back

Played 4/21, walked on 0630 first to tee off, finished right at 3 hours. This course rewards those that can hit the fairway off the tee and punishes those that can't. The starter even tells you not to worry about distance on the first two holes and focus on hitting the fairway. The fairways are NARROW and the greens SMALL and par is an excellent score for any hole. Play the blues, regardless of index as the course doesn't really play that long, a lot of elevation change so yardage is not in a straight line. Beware of #13, short par 3 over the cart path, the markers were set at the very front of the tee box and made it a VERY short hole and easy to fly. Several holes run next to each other and wayward drives become a hazard, especially 10 and 11 and the approach to 14 with drives from 15. If you live in San Diego and plan to play there often, buy the Residence card for $25 and play for $8 less every round, good at Torrey Pines, too.

Played 3/29. Walked on as a single Monday afternoon. Paid $38 green fee. $8 pull cart fee. Balboa Park Golf Course is a fun course to play. Don't be fooled by its short length on the scorecard. 6281 yards from the blue tees. It has many elevation changes and very tight fairways. Some are 20-25 yards wide. The rough was difficult, it gives you all types of lies. I thought the greens were good. They were firm & quick. Difficult from above the hole. I see how they can be inconsistent since there must be 3-4 types of grass growing on them. Customer service is do it yourself. You've got to be pretty fit to walk this course. I got paired up with two local players. Thanks, you guys were helpful with the local knowledge. Monday is the maintenance day for the driving range. I will play it again for sure. Lots of scenic views of the city. Got some good photos.

Played this course on Friday, February 12th. Teed off about 1pm and finished a little after 5pm. Course was in good condition, but did not enjoy the greens. Too bumpy and inconsistent. Fairways and rough were great. Great challenging course with some quirky holes (i.e. Hole 4 and 18). Customer service was HORRIBLE!!! Everyone there seemed to have a major chip on their shoulder, including the cart attendant that cleans the carts out... I felt like we were playing at the "Soup Nazi's" golf course from Seinfeld. Besides the customer service, it was worth it.

Played this afternoon and didn't have anybody in front or behind me for at least three holes! (Very strange) First off I would like to compliment the greens keepers for their superb greens conditions. Best greens I have played on in San Diego (including Torrey), they are fast, smooth and fair. The fairway could be a little thin at times but it was good for the most part. The rough was patchy and had some thick areas and some bald areas, the majority of the rough never got above three inches but there were some wild spots. Course is in great condition but it is (as always) a hell of a walk!
