Played this past Thursday and teed off a little after 2 pm. I thought the fairways were great with the exception of #3 (something going on with that fairway b/c it is roped off and tons of sand out there). Greens were in good shape with the exception of some people not repairing their ball mark. Other than that the greens did have a good pace to them, nothing too fast and not real slow either. I was in the sand quite a bit and some of the sand was fine but also in the same trap there was some wet sand too, just depended on your luck. The drier sand was certainly good quality. But the rough was thick, I mean you really couldn't advance the ball that far when you were in there. Of course that depended on if you ball settled into the grass or if you lucked out and it stayed somewhat playable. The rough around the green was a bear. There were several times in our group that we tried to chip out of this and the rough just completely ate the club up. Finished in 5 hrs and that was playing pretty quickly. It just takes a little longer here since people have to find the balls in the rough. Overall a great experience and should be taken advantage of before the rates go up.

A thrill to play here. The layout is demanding even with moderate rough. The setting is just spectacular. My only complaint was on the greens, which were bumpy and most had a "donut" right at the hole which I attribute to careless pin-cutting. No excuse for this on a course of this quality and it made "die-at-the-hole" putts a poor proposition.

Played April 29, 2009 late afternoon. Conditons are fantastic great fairways and the rough is cut where you won't loose your balls but still will grab you club if you try to hit it with long irons. Greens are in excellent great shape tournament condition.

Played 4/12/09 Greeens running about an 11. They are almost recovered. Most were in good condition, some maybe 3 or 4 were still showing some signs of the punching, but really not too bad. Some tee boxes had the punched holes but all in all playing conditions were about 8 out of 10.. Fairways were a bit long, bunkers were fine. The rough is not deep unless you really spray it. There was hardly anyone out there today. Teed off 20 minutes ahead of schedule & played in about 4Hrs 35 Min. I would say it is worth the local’s rate, but would have been disappointed if I had to pay the $200 for visitors rate.

This course is great!! I used to play it at least twice a month. Now, whenever I get back to S.D., I play here!! But don't push your luck from the back tees with Sunday tees and pin positions!!

Teed off on Sunday at 8:40 and finished at 1:30 so a little less than 5 hrs on a weekend. The greens were in great shape and I thought they were faster than normal and relatively smooth although I couldn't putt worth a lick on them. The fairways, tee boxes, sand were all great. The rough is thick and you really have to keep your eyes on your ball if it goes in the rough. Don't be a hero and try and hit a high iron out of this, just put it back in play. I've seen it take 3 or 4 stokes for people trying to hack a high iron, wood or hybrid out of it. Saw the cart girl about half a dozen time and the marshall was out there making sure people kept up the pace. Overall a good day and well worth the greens fee for residents.

Teed off at 8:40 here and it started out with some drizzle but the rain stopped after about the 7th hole. We finished in less than 5 hrs which is a good pace here. Getting ready for the Buick b/c the rough is getting very thick and with the rain in the AM there were times where you just had to get the ball back into play. Its foolish to think you can get a wood or high iron on some of these lies. Fairways were in excellent shape and the sand was in great shape as well. I was expecting the greens to be a little quicker so I'm not sure if it was just misreads on my part or that the rain contributed to this as well. I did think that whoever put the holes out today must have been pissed off because there were several pin placements on ridges and I thought down right unfair. Course is in very good condition right now and will only be open a couple more weeks before its shut down for the Buick. The cart girl came around 3 times I think and the marshall was out there making sure the pace of play wasn't lagging. He even helped on guy in our group find his ball in the rough. Certainly worth the resident rate at these conditions.

Played 12/24. Course is in very good shape. The fairways are excellent and the greens are pretty quick right now, they are a little bumpy but that's prob. b/c of the recent rains. The rough is, as usual, brutal. It's very hard to get longer clubs on the ball and chipping from it can be very challenging. Pace of play was about average here, 5 hours. $43 for a city resident is still one of golf's great deals.

What an amazing layout of a course! This place is everything I'd hoped it would be and what I heard about. The rough is the signature part of this course, more so than those Torrey Pines or the ocean. If you hit in it, try to see exactly where it lands. I lost 2 in it, but found 5 looking for mine. Hard to get out of with anything above a 5 iron. No Marshall around the whole day. Pace was decent. Only waited on a few holes for a couple of minutes.
Grandstands are up on the 18th hole, and a big tent is on the side of 16, which I hit on top of. Fairways were great. Tee boxes can use some work right now. Sand is good in some areas, but hard packed in other, probably because of the rain. Very enjoyable course that every golfer should try at least once.
