Played 2/2 and the course was in fantastic shape. Fairways are still a tad slow from the rain and the greens are slightly more receptive than usual. Be careful when your ball is sitting down in the rough, the rain really soaked the rough making it even thicker than usual. The greens are nice but a tad on the bumpy side, even at 8:30AM. I think they letting the greens grow back to allow for the amount of play the south course gets on a daily basis. By 2/8 the course should be in even better shape.

Played on 1/1 and today. Both rounds took about 4 1/2 hours to play, the group in front of us was in front of us and the group behind us was about a hole behind. So it was like we had the course to ourselves. Greens are fantastic, very smooth and very fast. You really have to get the ball started on the right line. Fairways, rough, and sand were all fantastic as well. The rough is growing so it is getting harder and harder to get out of it. Course is really taking shape for the tournament. Marshalls are out there making sure the pace of play is there. Excellent time, hope to get back out there next weekend.

Played Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas in a little less than 5 hours both days. Greens and fairways are great and rolling very smooth. Rough is growing for the San Diego Open but still patchy. There are some thick areas which the ball can be buried or it may be a little thin and the lies are playable. Sand is good quality, I know because I was in many of them. Marshalls were out quite a lot making sure everyone kept the pace of place up and saw the cart girl quite a few times. Probably only a couple of more weeks that the course will be open before it is shut down for the PGA.

Had a tee time at 7:30 on Friday which was a miracle in of itself. Could have just walked on b/c there was no one here. Teed off as a 2some and didn't catch anyone until hole 8, didn't have anyone behind us the whole round. Finished in a little over 4 hours. It was a perfect day, a little chilly to start but warmed up quite a bit. Everything is in great shape, I don't have a single complaint about any of the course. The rough may not be as high as other times but it all depends on the lie. There is quite a bit more rough around the greens though. These greens are slick so practice before you go out.

Played on 11/21/09 in the Buick AM Qualifier.I have played this qualifier before but wow!!,the course was in fantastic shape.The greens were fast fast fast,and the pin placements were the hardest I have ever seen.I must say that if you get a chance to play here,take it all in.Besides the beauty of the course, there are so many sights and sounds to enjoy.I always enjoy Torrey and lets face it,you get to walk in the footsteps of the greats and thats always exciting.Enjoy!

I played Torrey South on 11/16/09. This is the only course that I can't wait to play and just get excited the whole way there. Then the course gives me a beatdown and reality sets in. The course is in EXCELLENT condition and the greens are running pretty fast. I tee'd off at 12:20 and finished 18 pretty much in the dark. I wouldn't recommend teeing off any later than that if you want to finish. We were definitely the last group to finish the round.

Played Sunday and teed off at 9 am and finished in a little over 4 1/2 hours. Greens were fast, probably some of the fastest I have seen here in a while. The Century Club (formerly the Buick) qualifying is next weekend so that may explain it. Like the post before the rough is cut down than some of the horror stories you've heard in the past but the rough is a little thicker around the greens. Fairways were great and I did manage to find the sand in 9 out of 18 holes so believe me when I say the sand was good quality sand and consistent throughout the course too. I saw plenty of marshalls out there but it didn't seem to be a slow pace out there so I assume they were doing their jobs. Great value for a city resident and a good time and conditions to go out and play.

The fairway rough is not as penal as it can be, the rough around around the greens is longer but very manageable. Simply a great golf course.

Teed off at 9:40 and it was a beautiful day. Sunny skies w/ a little breeze. The greens were fast, it has been a while since I have seen them this fast. I was surprised considering they were areated a month or so ago, I wasn't expecting them to be completely healed yet. Kudos to the gounds crew, really doing a nice job. Tee boxes were pretty good, had some divots there but they were level. Fairways were great when I found them. Sand traps had great quality sand, sadly I found this out. The rough was cut down a bit but because of the type of grass your ball could nestle down and be a pretty nasty lie. I'd advise spending some time on the putting green in order to gauge the speed. For $73 still a good deal for residents and on days like this I think it's worth it for non-residents as well. In fact there were 2 in our group and they seemed to enjoy it very much.
