The course is in great shape, greens are medium speed, smooth and firm, fairways are in the best condition that I've seen there. Well worth the trip. MAIN CAUTION is that the course in the process of changing hands and they only had 10 carts on hand on Friday AM. There appeared to be a few more when we completed our round so check before you go out there unless you enjoy walking.

Played 4/6/13 12:30 4:15 pop $55 from their own T time site. The last time I played here in Jan. it was in horrific shape. After reading deepdvr's review, I decided to go check it out because I'm fond of this course. And I was not disappointed. A great example of the positive influence this site can have. Not only pointing out negatives, but letting other people know when a course might be playable again! The course was a 100 times better. The fairway's were mostly green with a few dead or dry spots scattered, but not much effect for us. T's were plush. Maybe a little too plush, but better than dead. The greens were a little slow for my taste at may be medium speed at best, but were very receptive and you could stick shots close. The biggest issue was two junior amateur groups in front of us that would not fix a single ball mark. It was disgusting. I mean literally 10-15 deep pitch marks on every hole! It would take our four some 2-3 min. on every hole to fix them. On one hole there was one 2 ' from the pin! And they had their coaches walking with them !!!! But overall the course is in decent shape and worth a trip out there.

3/20/13. I haven't played this course in over 5 years but I decided to take advantage of the Bday offer and teed off late morning on a Wednesday. I chose to walk and I was pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. The staff was super friendly and they got me right out. I played as a single without ever catching anyone in front of me. The course played as I remember it from years ago with some nice tweaks. The black tee box on the par 3's, #8 and #16, were pushed back. #16 is a bruiser from that tee box, especially playing into the wind. I think that is a great tweak as a course should force you to use different clubs on the par 3's. The other change is #11 playing as a long par 4. My only dislike of that hole is the mickey mouse green that was truly meant as a par 5 green. Course conditions blew me away. Greens were just a hair past medium speed but all 18 were consistent. Not many unrepaired ball marks. Greens were firm but held well struck short and mid irons. Fairways were on the long side but offered great lies. It also helped slow down a few drives that were heading towards the bad stuff. I don't ever remember the conditions being this good at Woods Valley. I'm putting this course back on my play list.

1/16/13 Tried to play today using the free birthday round. They are having some issues with their carts so it was walking only. I quickly realize my "Cart" bag is not set up to carry very well, so I just played 9. The faiways and rough are 99% dormant & brown. They are shaggy and good lies were hard to find. Greens were "OK" Med. speed and rolled fairly true.
There is fun to be had if you can find a good deal. They said they have a limited selection old fashioned gas carts available to reserve. Or bring your pull cart and go for a long walk.

I played today in rainy conditions and the course must drain decently well since I don't remember seeing any pooling or overly damp areas on the course. The course was fairly empty and we were able to finish in about 4 hours. Most of the course had thin coverage with the back nine being a little more lush. The greens were very receptive but had many bumps. Despite this, putts still held lines decently well. The few bunkers I was in had good coverage and depth. The staff was practically nonexistent. We paid $18.50 through EZ links and at that rate, it's well worth playing. I like the layout of the course but wish it was better maintained. Although the course isn't very long, it provides a decent challenge since there are a number of holes with tight tee shots.

This could be such a great track if they kept it up. The greens were slow, the fairways thin, and rough non-existent most holes. The back 9 seemed to be in a little better shape than the front. The water hazards were nice from afar, but far from nice. Drove all the way from L.A. to play in a tournament, won't ever do that again. Unless they really bring it back to what I can only imagine it used to be. I enjoyed the layout, just not the conditions.

Played here 11-24 7am with rudyclub for our match play. I have the same opinion of the course. i wouldn't say its in bad shape but, its not as well kept right now as I have seen it. Some of the fairways were shaggy and some had bare spots. The greens and around the greens were well kept. The rolled true and were not too marked up. It was early so I am sure that had something to do with the sand quality on the front as generally the bunkers have super fluffy sand here. We got out for cheap, had a fun round, did not wait on any hole.

Tee box's fury but mostly level and full
Fairways mostly brown and fury, many GUR areas and dead spots, Lots of unfilled divots.
Traps compacted and thin
Greens rolled well at medium pace but many have damaged/ repaired areas and lots of left over ball marks.
Over all the course is in tough but "OK to fair" condition. If you can find a good deal, it's still a fun course to play.
