Played 6-12-12 with my buddies who was playing his first round ever. The greens where aerated on 5-30 and they where almost perfect i think if they roll the green one more time they should be back to normal. The fairways where nice with grass everywhere only 2 hole had GUR so pretty stoked. Well worth the deals that they are giving right now 25 weekday while the greens recover from aeration. So play now while its cheap.

Ball marks and chewed up tee boxes because the course is doing more tournaments for casual golfers. Also the tournaments are happening on weekends which essentially shuts the course down to public play (example was 5/19 where no play). Carts are getting worn with breakdowns. And if you play weekends expect 5+ hours

Played on 5/6 and was impressed with the course condition. Most fairway are in above average condition and they are working on the ones that have some bare spots. Greens are firm and in above average condition. Excellent condition for the sand traps. Pace of play was around 4 hours in the AM. Wish this course was a little closer to O'side as it is one of my favorites. BTW, one of the locals we played with told me they are going to aerated the greens in late May so check before you play!

Played 4/15/12 Course is in decent shape. Some of the front nine fairway's are a little thin with many "under repair" areas, but still playable. The back nine are much nicer. Greens are in good shape, but roll a little slow. Over all the course is green and in decent shape. A fun course to play.

Played here on 1/19 and the course is in decent shape for the winter season. Greens are in better than average condition. LOTS of ground squirrel holes in the rough. Fairways are dormant so there are many "thin" lies. Very challenging course. worth the trip from Oceanside.

Lots of animal holes in the rough BUT you are not suppose to be there anyways! Well worth the drive from O'side. Good $ rate for Seniors. Definitely will go back!

This is a fine option if staying at the Valley View Casino - fivee minute drive. Little chilly in the morning tucked up in a valley. Front nine is pretty straightforward with one or two challenging holes. Back nine very interesting and pretty challenging with a lot of hidden landing areas for tee shots. Staff is good natured.

Played here on 4/16. This is one of the few courses in the county that are not currently aerating their greens. I have not played here in a year or so, but I do not remember the greens in being so bumpy. I found myself repairing 4 or 5 ball marks on each green. This is a very fun course, but the greens were in poor shape.

Woods Valley front 9 and back 9 were built at different times and the fairway conditions are quite different on each.
The front 9 is more traditional, with good grass, and the back 9 is more interesting and very pretty as it winds through big oaks, however I don't like the fairway grass as much as the front as it's chunky.
All the greens are the truest I have found in San Diego County. I've had many 30 ft. puts that roll with no bumps right in the hole!
The sand traps are also the best in the entire county. You have to wear sunglasses and bring a fruity tropical drink and a chair! Only thing is that since all the other traps around here have 1 inch of sand (or gravel) and are hard as a rock underneath it's difficult to chip out of the real deal!
All in all I love this course. Yes it can be slow but it cost half as much as say Encinitas Ranch were I have not finished a round in less than 5 hours in two years, and the conditions are much better.
